Title: THE SEMI-RELAXING DAY
Post by: bk on November 20, 2017, 12:17:48 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were semi-relaxed, and now it is time for you to post until the semi-relaxed cows come home.

TOD:  The only political one so far that really makes me wonder where the line is drawn is the lady who said that her boss, a Congressman, had asked her to twirl so he could see the whole outfit on a day when she was wearing an especially nice outfit.   (Apparently, she got a bonus not long after that, and thinks she got the bonus because of that.)

i know that, over my 30-something years in the business world, there have been a good number of workplace situations where someone came into the office dressed to the nines for an event later in the day and co-workers or a boss said something like "Oh, let's see!" and the well-dressed person would do a full turn to show what they were wearing.

But I gather it's different if it's a co-worker asking to see the outfit rather than a boss?  Or maybe not?  It's tough to say.

I blew it last night.  I was so excited about Annanelle's eating that I tries to feed her more, which failed, and I stupidly didn't give her her medication.  If I cannot get her to eat this morning and give her her meds, it's back to the vet this afternoon.

Continued Annabelle success vibes.

Great photos in the notes....I like the tug of war with the Levis....most entertaining!

I am off in about an hour for a PET Scan to see if everything worked....if it shows nothing still there or nothing new, I think I am given a six month reprieve from further treatments.  As I understand it, I will get the results at my appointment with my doctor on Nov. 28.

In other news, I am using my new wireless keyboard and mouse.  It is very nice.  My old one was BIG and noisy....this one is smaller and very quiet....and the keys are embedded into the casing so that dust and other stuff cannot get in between them....easier to keep clean....and it has a very light touch.

T.O.D.

It's like a runaway train.  If these accusations continue, as they probably will, Hollywood will be stripped of all meaningful talent.  At least, all meaningful talent that can get a movie made or, at the very least, financed.

Let he (or she) who without sin throw the first stone.

I just got word that the audio adaptation of FLYNN, my one-person stage play about Errol Flynn, is now available for download on Amazon, audible.com and, within a day or so, iTunes. Sam Burns brings the screen's most famous Robin Hood to life in this production, which has been enhanced with music and sound effects. Enjoy!

I'm not a big fan of the movie, but what does amaze me is how much Welles did with so little.

Just reporting in to say that the site has been barely limping along for me for about the last 45 minutes.  It either doesn't come up at all, or a page or a post finally lands after a couple of minutes wait.  It's been kind of intermittently slow the past day or so, since the other night when we were all getting that error message.  But this is really noticeably bad.

Good luck finding the way to the next step, and congratulations on getting this far.

And we are home!

Annabelle's temperature has gone down, which pleased Dr Mohr.  They gave her fluid injections and an antibiotic injection, and when she got out of her cage - after bitching at me all the way home - I noticed her checking out her dry food bowl.  I will feed her and Thatch shortly and see if she touches hers.

I really like Dr Mohr.  She's really wonderful.  I asked her if Annabelle and Thatch would be passing this infection back and forth forever, and she doubts it.  She said that Thatch might have brought it in with him, but if it were lurking like herpes inside Annabelle, it might have been the stress of Thatch's arrival that brought everything up.

So, I think in two days that I will take the cage apart and turn Thatch loose on our family.

I sent the scans of the two orchestra scores to the London conductor Martin Yates when I returned from City Center.  When Annabelle and I came in, I got this email from him:
You've done a great job and so quickly. It's funny, because  we are all so used to looking at sibelius scores, seeing your handwriting made me feel rather nostalgic.... you see the work that went into the scores and you don't see that with sibelius....

Good news about Annabelle. I would suggest that when the time comes, you leave Thatch's cage door open and let him come out when he wants to. Then he can go back in if he wants to do that, too.

It's funny, because over the weekend I answered some siren call ... beckoning me to return to my attempts to learn Finale.  I opened one of the tutorials, and sure enough, I found a few things easier to grasp.

Okay, "a few things".  There are a million things.  But hey.

That having been said, I LOVE a good handwritten score, and DR Elmore's are beautiful.

I think this goes back to my first shows during high school years, when we were getting handwritten scores as often as not, to THE MUSIC MAN, CARNIVAL (hmm, I wonder how I happen to still have that one...? - it's probably accrued a few late charges by now...), and others.  Those things shot right into my bloodstream.

Well, Annabelle turned her nose down at the baby food, and I thought, Jeez, how logn will this continue?

Then, I gave Thatch his dinner of Wellness chicken paté, Wellness kibble, and Meow Mix seafood medley.  As soon as I put the food down and Thatch dug in, Annabelle barged into the cage and started eating his food with him!  So I dumped the Gerber's and gave her the other half of the paté.  She didn't eat much, but it enabled me to give her the second daily dose of .6ml of Clamavox.

Thatch is planning an escape from the cage.  He thinks I don't know it.  Ha ha!

My nose is pretty quiet today, DR John G, but we've just come from 2 hours in the ER after a 4-pound hand weight fell from the bookshelf I was dusting.  It smacked the top of my left foot and I yelled until Richard and Rob came running.  We watched it swell and discolor and decided it should be x-rayed.  Fortunately, nothing's broken, but I won't be tap-dancing anytime soon.

I'm watching a strange Polish cannibal mermaid musical called The Lure. It's really quite a bit of fun in a perverse sort of way.

A Polish cannibal mermaid musical? Just when you think you've heard it all...

It was a bloody marvel. It also takes a bit of strong stomach at times.

Is this the film that was just released by Criterion?  I guess it’s time for me to wake up and get interested.

Yes. It came in at the library. Very strange. Very, very strange.

Unboxed about five boxes and thankfully have all the Indiegogo perks now, so we'll get all that organized.  I really need the helper's husband to come and secure the shelving in the garage - there's too many damn boxes there and I need to get all that stuff out so we can actually find things.

DR John are you pleased with the surgery date?

No. It seems like a long time off, but it was the first date available. I guess I can enjoy the holidays.

I am sorry then.  It does seem like a long time.  I suppose if it was urgent the doctor would have had an earlier slot for you.

Vibes you stay calm while you wait.
