MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a mission and were accomplished, and now it is time for you to post until the accomplished cows come home.

Happy to say that our Tuesday night show is completely sold out - we're overbooking, however, because I think we all know how reliable people are.  The Monday night performance is over two-thirds gone right now.

The specs on the forthcoming Blu-Ray 70th anniversary edition of The Wizard of Oz look pretty spectacular.

Hmmm...I think I found another advantage to Blu-Ray...

Last night at Target, I saw the new release of WOODSTOCK.  They had the plain vanilla director's cut DVD release priced at $16.99.  But then I spotted the 40th anniversary super special edition for Blu-Ray that contained all kinds of nifty-keen extras (encased in a box that was covered in fringed suede, 'natch!)  Cool!, I thought--now where's the DVD version?  Well, they had it--but it came in a big round drum-like box that had a tamberine for a lid.  That would be fine if I needed a new container for my stash, but otherwise this thing was not going to fit neatly into any video shelf.  I passed it up--if I decide I want it bad enough, I can get it cheaper on Amazon...

Must try not to fall asleep today.  I think it's nap time when I get home this evening.

Later. :)

Last night BK asked:

Quote
How do I set up a Kritzerland on Twitter that's not the same as BK on Twitter - or whatever I am on Twitter.

BK, you can set up @Kritzerland but you will need a different e-mail address other than the one you are using for @haineshisway.

Also, you might want to go out to Twibes.com and join up with the theatre "twibe".  It's a good way to find followers and followees.

Very cool!  I just found the 40th Anniversary WOODSTOCK special edition for DVD on Amazon that is like the boxy Blu-Ray set I saw at Target.  In fact, I didn't even see the drum/tamberine set--it must me a Target exclusive.

Ordered and awaiting its arrival.

I already have my bongos.  I'll be watching WOODSTOCK in Matthew McConaughey style...

Good morning, all! I slept late and that's that.

Today, Jerome Moross: I need to organize all the work I have for his scores. PHI, once again, is taking its time paying us, so I can't afford a walk to the corner.  I may watch a DVD this afternoon as well. I have one last Netflix sitting here, something Mexican, I think.

DR singdaw, Keith Garebian is a Canadan(?) author who, like Gerald Bordman, knows nothing. He works entirely from secondary sources - reviews and other books, often equally inaccurate sources - reports nothing new, and repeats errors from other sources. He has at least three show histories, GYPSY and MY FAIR LADY being the other two. I think for anyone living in the New York area, it's a waste of money: go to the NYPL theatre collection and look at the original photos, scrapbooks, programs, etc.  and form your own opinion. It's much more entertaining than a half-assed history and your discoveries and findings may be different from a hack like Ethan Mordden as well!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Wishes to Baxter the Clown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep! why is it some good writers have a hard time finding a publisher and others like Mr Garebian can get three poor histories published?

See my previous post.

See my previous post.

I have all three of his books and found them poorly researched and written. I wish there were better tomes out there about these classics. They're well represented in that marvelous coffee table book 101 GRAETEST MUSICALS (or whatever it's called), but they really deserve a thorough "making-of" book each.

Good morning!

It was cool enough this morning to open up the house once more, but it's going to be 92 today, so around noon, things will be closed up again. Such is life in the South. And there won't be many more days where I can open the doors and windows in the morning. Soon, it won't be dipping into the low 60s at night.
