As for the Topic of the Day...
My favorite at-home breakfast: Cheddar cheese omelet*, thick-cut pepper bacon, rye toast. *A couple of years ago, I was experimenting and came up with a "crispy" cheese omelet. I start off with the cheese in the pan - a non-stick pan - and let it cook/fry gently until it crisps up, then I pour in the eggs. YUM!
Favorite diner breakfast - Corned beef hash, two eggs (over easy), biscuits. -Although, good corned beef hash is hard to find. -Alas, the worst corned beef I had was at The (beloved) House of Pies. They used the canned stuff - which is OK - but they microwaved/steamed it. It actually came to the table runny.
Best corned beef hash: 3rd Street Diner in Richmond, VA, and/or Good Enough To Eat here in NYC.
Other favorite breakfasts: French Toast, Pumpkin Bread French Toast, Challah French Toast, Cream-cheese and Peaches Stuffed French Toast, etc., etc. Pancakes and waffles too.
I also like the "bacon, egg and cheese on a bun" sandwiches which are sold all over NYC. And they usually only cost a buck or two - and you get coffee too!
