A Chris Cooper fan only since LONE STAR?  I've been a fan since MATEWAN.

I've missed MATEWAN.

Thank you, now I'll have to look into it.

8 down and 3 to go.

It COULD HAPPEN!

S Woody: Scorkeeper here.  So far, LOTR has eight.  No multiple awards so far for anyone else.

(I'm a natural-born tally keeper, what can I say?)

I think it's very possible it will happen, or certainly 10 out of 11.

Still a clean sweep as far as I can see.  But how can LOTR:ROTK not have been up for cinematography?  Makes no sense.  And John Seale, a great, great cameraman, should have won.

Not true, S. Woody. MASTER AND COMMANDER has won 2.

S. Woody again - I'd have been happier if Levy had really given Kate a wet one.  Missed opportunity.

The first LOTR film won Cinematography.

I think the "argument" for TROTK is that the bulk of big shots were process...certainly all the battles, the shots of the White City, the shots in Mordor.

Your guess is as good as mine, but, I think the LOTR:ROTK should've been a shoe-in for cinematography. . .had it been nominated.

Strange thought here. . .Stuart Townsend, dating nominee (and probably winner) Charlize Theron, sitting there with Charlize  watching the final film of the trilogy he was fired from win award after award after award after award.  How does HE feel?

Sofia has now won every conceivable award for a script that was, most likely, "helped" by Mr. Murray in a major major way.  Still, people love the movie and you can't fight a roller coaster once it starts going.

We have four awards left, but you're right, that won't happen in 20 minutes unless they skip all the acting clips.

Bill Murray is a muse; funny, he doesn't look like Ava Gardner to me.  Or Olivia Newton-John, for that matter.

Personally, I find it makes the awards rather boring.  Nothing the least bit surprising.  *preparing to dodge the veggies being hurled by other dear readers :) *

Plus, this means that I should probably actually see the movie sometime... which means I'd have to watch ALL THREE!!!  Oy.

Jed, you're so young, but some of us have lived through sweeps like this before. Some years, they are deserved.

Oh, not at all saying it's not deserved!  Just saying that it makes the awards a bit boring for me, personally.

Overall, the show has had no real "moments" or surprises.  Have there been any other clean sweeps in award history?  Where a film has won every single award it was nominated for?

Poor Naomi Watts - should have been nominated and won for Mulholland Drive.

Are you counting things that have only been nominated for ONE award and took it home?    ;)

Ben Kinglsey.  It is so nice to see that man garnering acclaim once more.  I'm still in awe of his "Gandhi."
