Happy Birthday DR KEVIN H!
I had the opposite experience from the one MR BK had. I decided to watch a L O N G movie that I had never seen.....Nicholas & Alexandra. It looked nice - but the writing and the acting were awful. I remember all of the praise Janet Suzman kept getting at the time for her performance - but.....no.....she acts is though she is on The Guiding Light.....or As The World Turns.....I kind of liked Tom DR WHO Baker who played Rasputin.....but his part was also written badly.I did read one review that sort of sums it up for me: "This film has more history than it knows what to do with."
So guess what I did last night.I THREW UP!!! Following right on the heels of DR George's story.I'd been asleep for an hour or more, and woke with a very slight but annoying belly ache. I soon recognized it as a warning that I should visit the necessary. Sure enough, I did there what we usually do there, but with a bit more than usual urgency, and returned to bed. But all was not right. I still felt the little ache and now I was in a clammy sweat. I laid (lay?) there for a moment doing what we often do, which is try to deny what needed to be done next. But I knew better, and I returned to the scene of the crime. It didn't take much urging, and woopsy -- there it was. I just sat there on the floor for a bit to make damned sure I was done. I knew from long ago experiences that a bad case of this results in repeated visits, like what happened with George. But I felt a certain peace with it and went back to bed, feeling hopeful. And I lucked out. That was all I needed to do, I was back to sleep in fairly short order, and when I got out of bed - gingerly - this morning, everything felt normal. Whew! The End.

I did like Richard Rodney Bennett's score, but I couldn't wait for those Romanovs to get shot.
