DR Elmore - You were on my mind today.  Difficult as it is, I'm glad you're here instead of trying to cope from far away.

DR Ginny, did you get my PM?  I've got 15 more days in Ohio, unless it turns even worse and I stay longer.

I just finished reading last night's posts.  DR Matt H, I agree about WINDFALL.

I had meant to add that I finished reading a very funny and romantic novel by Steve Kluger (?) called  ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE, which has a lot to do with a high school production of BRIGADOON and its influence on two lives.  This morning I started the most fantastic Shakespeare book, WILL IN THE WORLD.  I recommend both highly.

And so to bed.  G'night, all!

DR Vixmom - what's your job-changing timetable?  Do you get some time off between or go directly from one to the other?

TV NEWS
TV Producer Aaron Spelling Dies at 83
Jun 23, 9:56 PM EST

Aaron Spelling, a onetime movie bit player who turned to television production and created a massive number of hit series, from the vintage "Charlie's Angels" and "Dynasty" to "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Melrose Place," died Friday, his publicist said. He was 83.

Spelling died at his home in Los Angeles after suffering a stroke on June 18, according to publicist Kevin Sasaki.

Spelling's other hit series included "Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," "Burke's Law," "The Mod Squad," "Starsky and Hutch," "T.J. Hooker," "Matt Houston," "Hart to Hart" and "Hotel." He kept his hand in 21st-century TV with series including "7th Heaven" and "Summerland."

He also produced more than 140 television movies. Among the most notable: "Death Sentence" (1974), Nick Nolte's first starring role; "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" (1976), John Travolta's first dramatic role; "The Best Little Girl in the World" (1981), which starred Jennifer Jason Leigh.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Spelling provided series and movies exclusively for ABC and is credited for the network's rise to major status. Jokesters referred to it as "The Aaron Broadcasting Company."

Watching THE GIRL WHO HIRED SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN'S WEDDING DAY.

Noel Neill does a nice job in the latter, and Gloria Talbott is lovely in the former.

Results from thrifting today...

William Bolcom/Clifford Jackson: An Evening With Henry Russell
Marianne Faithful: A Child's Adventure
Little Marcy with "The Jesus Story: A Children's Musical"
THE HAPPY TIME
and
an oddity from the Berkeley, Cal. public schools A-V dept., a record meant to be played with a filmstrip called "A Child's Guide to a Parent's Mind." That is kind of fun.

I'm getting up fairly early and heading to the lake. My sister and part of her family are there visiting my parents. I don't get to see her often, so I'm heading up for a long day.  It's supposed to storm tonight and tomorrow. I'm glad to know that Bootsie won't be out trying to hide from the rain.

Rodz... sounds like you got quite the haul! You must post the picture from the Marcy  album.  When I read the title  I got the awful image in my head of Little Marcy hanging on a cross with that big weird grin on her face......

Get it out! Get it out!

Well I am off to bed.  Hope I don't dream of Little Marcy!l

TCB, my deepest condolences.  You were very lucky to have such wonderful neighbors.

I hope you manage tomorrow without doing any damage to yourself.  Who will be driving you?

I have a vague memory of this Loretta character. But I can't remember what her deal was. There were some characters who appeared for a bit, got a little play, and then never returned.

Like what the heck happened to Rerun, the little brother of Lucy and Linus?
Or the boy named "5"

I think he drew Rerun all the way to the end. On my Peanuts daily calendar, I'm in the midst of the running jokes of Rerun wanting Snoopy to come out and play with him, and this calendar is using strips from the later years.

The syndicated newspaper strip has now gone much farther back in time. Sally Brown has just been born in the newspaper.
