So I guess I'm talking to myselfff. That's how you know you crazy, you start to jabber.
Okay, then, by postmark deadline Monday, May 3, I'm sending in the WHOLE dang pack o' stuff for the New Yawk Musical Theatre Fest in September. It is a sort of juried Fringe Festival for new musicals, from what I gather. They select 18 pieces, and give them 6 performance dates during a 3-week period in a "Theatre District" theater - my guess is 99 seats, to comply with Equity blahblah. Ya also get a tech director, lighting designer and board op, a piano, front of house personnel (box office, house mgr, ushers), and what might be referred to as (yeah, right) "publicity" - one is responsible for one's own casting, direction, costumes/set, actors, musical director/other musicians - and, true to Fringe Theater - must be able to set up and strike in a very limited time.
Well, I am the Queen of Low Budget, and have successfully Fringed several times, so what the hell, go for it.
What'll I do, if they actually choose MY piece??? I would have to go to NYC for 10 days in June, and cast that sucker, that's for sure. Oy, hard enough to cast the reading in Seattle...
