TOD:

I can't recall at the mo' exactly what was my most extraordinary dream, but I've had a lot of interesting ones.  In fact, last week I had one which I kept meaning to relate here:  in it, I somehow found myself playing the lead in a professional and prominent production of SWEENEY TODD.  It was opening night, and I kept telling the director (it must have been John Doyle) that I was familiar with the role and that I probably knew the lyrics to most of the songs, but there was no way that I was prepared to actually perform the show.  He kept saying, "Don't be such a worry wart--you'll be fine!"  and he walked away to wish some backstage person good luck.  My anxiety increased as I began to realize that there were only two other cast members (which is why I'm sure the director was Doyle.)  As I was standing backstage waiting for the curtain to rise, someone told me that I was supposed to be out on stage playing the opening organ music.  I peeked onto the stage and saw that the organ was the size of the Wanamaker organ here in Philly!  That's when I woke up.

I really don't expect DR JRand to run all the dreams he comes across here today on the Dream-O-Matic 6000.  I'm pretty sure I have an idea that this dream means that I'm over-anxious about undertaking some task that I should actually enjoy.  That, and I have issues about John Doyle.

DR singdaw, I think the term you're looking for is lucid dreaming.

Thanks, DR DtM!!!  That's not the term that I remember, but the description certainly sounds accurate.

I have had some erotic dreams in this state that were...well, interesting.    :)

...OR...

It could just mean that you like large organs.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I am indeed watching President Bush's previously unannounced, final news conference.

And is he speaking in gibberish, in honor of the title o' the day at HHW?

No.

*But I am wondering if his lack of "prettification" - not the usual grooming and TV-friendly make-up - is on purpose.

**And I'm also wondering if all the reporters had to check their shoes this morning?  ;D

WOW?!?!?

I just had to switch to CNN since the NBC affiliate just switched back to "regular programming": the fourth hour of "The Today Show" with Kathie Lee and Hoda.  ::)

Good morning!

Beautiful morning though cold and only getting to 50 today. I'll be bundling up when I go out to lunch later with best friend John.

So... Now that the news conference is done, I have a choice of watching "Maury" (which I didn't realize was still on), "The Doctors" (where they are doing a cervical procedure, and showing the results of a "full body lift"), or "Regis and Kelly" (not the fourth hour of "The Today Show" which comes after "R&K").  Hmmmm....

Since I retired, I have had a series of dreams about being back in the classroom but always with unruly students which I really didn't have much of when I was actually teaching. (I ran a very tight ship.) The dreams seem to come in spurts, a few during the course of a couple of weeks and then none for months at a time. I really hate those dreams.

I remember one dream I used to have all the time in my younger years. I was asleep on the edge of the world and could feel myself slipping off and falling into space. Then I'd wake up. It wasn't like I was on the side of the bed about to fall off or anything. Never could figure that dream out or why I had it so often. I haven't had it for decades, but I remember I woke up dozens of times from that same nightmare.

As I mentioned last night, today I'll be watching MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION, Douglas Sirk's 1954 melodramatic adaptation of the book, first filmed in 1935. That original version is also in the set (on disc two). With both films in the package plus a bunch of other bonus features and a commentary, I'm not sure I can get the entire package finished today. We'll see how well I progress this afternoon.

Good morning, all!  My final edits initiated a panic attack so I've been doing riot control this morning. I hope things are fine now.

DR Nursie, I loved IN BRUGES; very funny, rather violent, but I love the writer Martin McDonagh's sense of humor. His LIEUTENANT of INISHMORE was one of the funniest plays I've ever seen but also one of the bloodiest. And Colin Farrell was really wonderful in IN BRUGES.

Today, more Frank Loesser and my walk.
