Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so yesterday with a little today thrown in for good measure, and now it is time for you to post until yesterday's cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LIGNEOUS!
-
We just had thirty-one GUESTS in here. The years 2004 and 2005 were very popular with said GUESTS.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! For those who got all fraught last night about Jill Haworth's death, here is today's NY TIMES obit:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/05/theater/05haworth.html?_r=1
Today in the studio we record coloratura soprano Marnie Breckenridge, who played Cunegonde for the English National Opera two years ago, and Jonathan Michie who is flying up from Florida to record three German lieder and two songs in English, a toast to Pittsburgh's Crucible Club and a patriotic Spanish-American War bit of propaganda.
-
good morning good day
-
ask bk
What was the Guy Haines song dropped from the Sherman Brothers album?
-
Okay, it's time to head off to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. News at 5.
-
Wednesday morning greetings!

...
Thank you for posting this, DR Elmore. CABARET was my first Broadway show when my mother and I visited NYC in the summer of 1967. We saw the original cast and waited at the stage door afterwards. Jill's is the only one of the 5 principals whose autograph I don't have on my program book because we didn't recognize her (short black hair onstage, long blond off) until she was halfway down the block and turned around and shouted "G'night, Loves!" in her raspy Sally Bowles voice.
Having seen her performance, it took me a long time to warm up to Liza's take on the role...
-
It's a shame no one is taking pictures of the Gardenia performances and rehearsals. Those would be quite nice to see.
-
I once held a ligneous rock. I recall that it was very hot and that I was feeling petrified.
-
ask bk
What was the Guy Haines song dropped from the Sherman Brothers album?
Tin Whistle Tune from Busker Alley.
-
I don't quite know why I'm up this early, other than I should not eat a big meal at ten o'clock.
-
BK,
Why are you up so early?
-
BK and Druxy are dyslexic. :)
-
I once held a ligneous rock. I recall that it was very hot and that I was feeling petrified.
You were probably stoned.
-
Question for BK
BK, you've been in contact with two of the original PROMISES, PROMISES pit singers. Do you think you could interest them in performing on an upcoming recording?
-
I am noshing on an unusally good onion bagel with cream cheese.
-
It was always strange to me to learn over the years that Jill Haworth's performance in CABARET was critically damned by many. On the OCR I thought she was perfect.
-
One of the winners of MegaMillions is in Washington. George? TCB? Jed? Ann? Former Governor Gary Locke?
-
DR George, that was very interesting about your Uncle. Glad your family now knows what became of him.
-
Yes loved reading the articles and looking at the pictures DR GEORGE posted last night......maybe that is where you got your artistic gene.
-
Whew......my parents wanted a television set for the living room to watch DVD's on - no cable - so I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours setting it up.....I also bought them a flat antenna so that they could get OTA digital channels.....had to scan several times to get them all.....and one is still missing....but it is working.
I sort of miss the days of plugging it in and turning it on.
-
Sad to hear about Jill Haworth.....I also enjoy listening to the OCR......and of course I am even more intrigued about her life after reading the new Sal Mineo book.
-
Whew......I MAY recover.
-
Now I am eating a yummy lunch of a premavira pasta dish with a few bits of grilled chicken thrown in and a vodka sauce.
-
And I will have for desert a slice of applesauce cake.
-
Question for BK

What's being worked on is a reunion at next December's Kritzerland at the Gardenia Christmas show, where they'd sing Turkey Lurkey.
-
I'm up again. I got three more hours of sleep, so I guess that means a total of about six.
-
Even though I have yet to get one myself, I've still become the set-up expert on setting up HDTVs in my family and circle of friends. This stems from my days as the computer expert. In actuality, all I really know how to do is plug in cables to the right spots.
-
As soon as I feel awake I'll do some writing.
-
This is what I awoke to - I couldn't have asked for a nicer start to the morning. Since it contains a reference to FJL perhaps he'll post this link on his home away from here, All That Chat.

Very nice article!
-
We now seem to have ALL of the digital channels.
That's really all I do, too, DR DtM - but it can be frustrating and hair pulling!
-
LOL, Bruce! I find it fun that when people stay away for months or years they're greeted with a king's welcome, but miss a day and a half, well you know what I mean. :)

For your penance say four Hail Marys and post the link as it does have that very nice reference to The Last Starfighter. I believe I greet people here with a Queen's welcome :)
-
Hello DR FJL.
-
DR DRUXY I have only seen about 1/3 of THE SPIRAL ROAD, but I like it a lot.....Mr Burl Ives and Mr Rock Hudson are a good pair of adversaries.
Also.....someone YOU know shows up in THE GOLDEN BLADE......I didn't recognize Miss Kathleen Hughes in her long black wig.....but she was terrific in the second lady leading role.
-
I am waiting for the King's Ransom.
-
Bruce - Wow, that's very nice!!!!! And the writer put it on castrecl too. I'll spread it around.
I meet your queen's welcome with two corgis at my feet.
-
Thank you, Jrand.
-
Bruce - Do you know if any guests come through google searches?
(past-employer paranoia)

Kids sometimes say the funniest things.
My brother-in-law is getting a new tv. I asked my niece about it and she said "I hope it gets the shows i like!" :)

DR George, that was very interesting about your Uncle. Glad your family now knows what became of him.
It's interesting and a bit sad...they had been wondering for years.

That's a great article, BK! Congrats! ;D

Anything's possible, but as far as I know, no one else in the family is as "artistic."

I'm really saving up my vacation time...maybe I should also start saving money to actually take a trip.
;)

Back from today's sessions! Marnie zipped through her three songs by noon, and we took a lunch break until Jonathan Michie showed up from Miami around 12:45. We got all five numbers he had to do in the can in about 2 hrs and 20 minutes.
-
I'm up again. I got three more hours of sleep, so I guess that means a total of about six.
I would call that a good night's sleep!
-
Great article! Is Brad a Dear Reader, by any chance?
-
Today I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:

I've written about five pages so far - they're fun, but I have to go back and read this entire chapter to see if it's too long. It's probably okay and I'm still only in chapter three, so I think I can afford to do this sort of sequence early on.
-
DR Vixmom I hope your mother's neighbor will be ok. It is bad enough to rob someone at gunpoint but totally senseless to hit them. Scary & sad.
-

I'm sorry your uncle could not be found sooner but at least there is some kind of closure. Vibes your families connection with Sean is very rewarding & happy.

Thanks, Jane. I also found the link to the pictures that are referenced in THIS (http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F20E12FA3F5B0C778EDDAE0894DD404482) article about my late uncle. There was actually a link near the top of the remembrance site (http://www.trevorlittle.com/2006/02/22/02_26_2005_dumbo_cat/)...I knew that it wasn't difficult to find. Click HERE (http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2005/07/24/nyregion/20050724_ARTIST_SLIDESHOW_1.html) to see them all. Here is the one photograph of him with some of his drawings:

RE: Kathy Hughes (Rubin) -- She's probably best remembered for that publicity shot from IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE of her screaming. It's been published for years in advertisements and on book covers.
However, the fact is that she only had one very short scene in that movie...and she didn't scream.

George does your uncle look like anyone in your family? I suppose you had photos of him when you were young. My mother didn't have any photos of her father. I wish I could find a story, with a photo, of him.
-
I like Kathleen Hughes best in THE CULT OF THE COBRA with Faith Domergue...although she is particularly good in THE GLASS WEB!
-
I'm taking a break and waiting to hear what time I need to go to the tape transfer place.
-
Bruce, FANTASTIC ARTICLE!!! Nice mention for FJL too :)
-
George I bet you wish you had some of those drawings!!!
-
Bruce, it may only be January, but that was one heck of a Valentine that gentleman wrote about you.

Coloratura Myra Breckinridge? Wow.

Gary Locke is in the other Washington now. He is in Obama's cabinet.
-

Vodka sauce? You won't care if the chicken is raw.

It would be a lot easier getting us off of Page Three, if a few people would help out!

ASK BK DAY:

-
It would be a lot easier getting us off of Page Three, if a few ppeople would help out!
OK, DR TCB!
-
I'm having some Chinese food. Then I'm going to crash, watch BONES reruns and TOP CHEF. Tomorrow we have three singers, Ron Raines, Jeanne Lehman, and Marnie comes back to record her last three songs.

I've been unearthing my desks and it's like an archaeological expedition. In the notes that I took at a prospect research conference last May, I found one of the think-outside-the-box mental exercises: "Write down 1 thing you're going to do before Sept. 30 that absolutely terrifies you." Never in my wildest imaginings would I have written down "Have a heart attack."

-
George, do you know what caused the break-up in the family?
Not specifically...they think that it was probably because their father was a tyrant, but because Charlie didn't tell them, they're only guessing.
-

Laura, I think I have been seeing your incredible photos for so long that I have almost become blasé. And I shouldn't, because your photos are all so wonderful.
-
I'm very annoyed with myself that I did not take my camera with me on my hike this morning. I could have gotten some great photos of Sherlock. Thanks to the frozen fog we have been having our world this morning looked like this tree.

Stilts always alert everyone at the pond when there is danger (which they consider people to be). When they see you, they start flying, and they call "Quit, quit, quit!"

I'm searching the internet for better photos of the results of icy fog.

I would like to know why FB is not recognizing my computer again.
-
Can anyone explain the following?
The requested URL /home.php was not found on this server.
-
It seems like every grocery store and every other type of store that you go into these days, has those "customer cards" that they want you to use. I think they are basically a scam, becasue what they do is allow the store to chart your likes and dislikes. I am so sick of them, that I almost turned down the customer "Wellness Card" from RiteAid Pharmacy when they offered it to me last year. Well, today I got a letter from RiteAid saying that I had reached "silver" status with my card. As a result eveything I buy at RiteAid, each and every day for the next year, they will automatically deduct 10% off the price.
Now that is what I call a customer card!
-
I would like to know why FB is not recognizing my computer again.
Consider yourself lucky.
-
Just fill out a fake name, TCB. Or a fake address.
-
Can anyone explain the following?
The requested URL /home.php was not found on this server.
That's easy, Jane. Apparently the URL that you requested is not found on that server.

;)
-
Just fill out a fake name, TCB. Or a fake address.
Then I would have missed out on this discount. It applies to evrything including prescriptions.

Oh. Ok then. I have always wondered if those records can be subpoenaed for any reason.
-
DR George, your family story reminds me of the book I'm reading MISSING LUCILE, Suzanne Berne's memoir in which she attempts to get to know her grandmother who died when Suzanne's father was a child. It really makes you think about what you don't know about your own family...
-
Can anyone explain the following?

That's easy, Jane. Apparently the URL that you requested is not found on that server.
Thanks. I need to get in there too. Apparently, according to the comments, I said Sherlock is five when I meant four. This month he will be four and a half to be more accurate. :)

If it helps, MR BK's landlord, James Marsden is in a hot tub scene on MODERN FAMILY tonight.

Amazing drawing by our uncle, George..
I agree wth Jane and TCB, they are very striking gentlemen
-
Yes lovely photos from DR GEORGE and DR LAURA.....
LOL DR DRUXY......Kathleen Hughes seems like a very nice person in the couple of interviews I have seen - and like DRMBARNUM, I also think she is fabulous in CULT OF THE COBRA......I just didn't recognize her in THE GOLDEN BLADE.....but she had some very nice scenes with Rock.
And as I said.....sometime this weekend I will finish THE SPIRAL ROAD.....
-
But it seems WELL WORTH the time.
-
I have the book, but haven't read it....maybe I will after I finish the movie.
-
I did finish a very grim book about the Sir William Franklin expedition of the 1840's to find the Northwest Passage.....

ASK BK DAY:
What day is the March Gardenia show? What is the basis of that show? Any idea who may be in it besides Alet?
The March show will be called The Sherman Brothers Album - so far we've got Alet, Kelly Sullivan (who just starred in Robin and the Seven Hoods at the Old Globe and who played the female lead in our reading of The Roxy), and Juliana Hansen. We'll know about guy one on Saturday, but it's looking good and hopefully he'll remain available - and all I can say is people love him and he's dreamy. Once I know about him, I'll know which way to go with guy two. And we have a guest star we're approaching, someone who has ties to the Sherman Brothers. Best of all, Richard Sherman will be there.
-
LOL, Bruce! I find it fun that when people stay away for months or years they're greeted with a king's welcome, but miss a day and a half, well you know what I mean. :)
You know we are just jealous when you go play with your other friends - we want you to like us best :-* :-* ;)
-
Oh, so darn soon DR TCB. HUGS AND VIBES!!!
-
Well, I'm done for the day. I'm off to TAO (http://www.olytheater.com/)'s play-reading committee meeting. I don't know how long it'll take, but we're meeting at a local pizza place, so it'll also be dinner!
Until later.
-
I used Craig's laptop to make a "quick" post on FB. He doesn't have a desk in there so using the laptop is physically uncomfortable. No wonder he keeps complaining his back hurts.
FB said I used the wrong password and sent me email with a code to use to change my password. Back to my regular computer and then back to Craig's to submit the code so I could make the change.
Ten minutes after I knelled down to use the laptop I was finally on Facebook. ::)
-
Excellent article Bruce and Fred!
-
I hope I win the PowerBall so I can come to March GARDENIA show.
-
George lovely articlwe about your uncle - how sad that you never had the opportunity to know him
-
George you really look a lot like your dad!
-
Someone with ties to the Sherman Brothers.....Tommy Sands....Hayley Mills.....Dick Van Dyke.....
-
So sorry DR TCB. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have a question for Cillaliz:
Dear Cillaliz,
If someone is arrested and is released on bail because someone at the court (or jail or wherever) makes a mistake, is that person a fugitive?

You have been told this repeatedly - you really need to publish a book of your photos
"Today I went for a walk..."
or "Walking with Laura"
I would buy coppies for gifts and one for me of course!
-
Been working on revamping my resume.
I am really uncertain in what direction to go since my hearing is an issue
-
Well, seeing how the IT guy erased the hard drive...
-
Um Laura I am sure soem still exist on the pages of teh archives.
I think I stillhave one in email..
I do agree with vixmom.... These pics are amazing
I would buy one!
-
:( You never retrieved your photos?
-
or even a wall calendar complete with witty remarks or insightful throughs
-
Everything on the laptop is gone. I have some others saved on this computer, but not many.
-
DR Dakota are there groups that can help you with your resume regarding the hearing issue?

-
I did have one photo printed in a local calendar.
-

That is neat that you had a photo used in a calendar
-

I have a question for Cillaliz:
Dear Cillaliz,
If someone is arrested and is released on bail because someone at the court (or jail or wherever) makes a mistake, is that person a fugitive?
I don't think I'd call them a fugitive, but I'm not sure what it was technically. They could be required to go back into custody. How does this person know it's a mistake?
-
Edith is quite funny. I thought she wanted to be Martha this year, I called her Martha and she said "No, this year it's Edith" LOL,
-
George,
I know you like Doctor who
Have you seen this article

This is what I awoke to - I couldn't have asked for a nicer start to the morning. Since it contains a reference to FJL perhaps he'll post this link on his home away from here, All That Chat.

Wrote another couple of pages and am onto a new chapter.

Beautiful photo Laura

Whew - I tried to do a software update and thought I'd fried my computer. Rob helped me through it and now he's helping Richard install a new light fixture above the stove.

They can issue a warrant on the new charges, which I'm sure they have. No one wants to claim responsibility because they may be liable if he commits more crimes
-
Laura,
would you like me to forward the picture i have back to you so you an rebuild your collection
-
Laura, you haven't lost the photos posted on Facebook.
-
Watching DON PASQUALE - very funny.
-
There might still be a few in the HHW archives also..
-
Don't worry about the photos. Some are saved elsewhere. I haven't had the need to retrieve many of them. Most weren't worth saving, anyway.
-
I wasn't worried, just saying....
-
How is Callie feeling today?
-
Watching a motion picture on DVD and then at ten Doug Haverty is coming to pick up some material for an upcoming release and we'll go get something to eat - at about twelve-thirty I had a foot-long Subway turkey sandwich which was one of the most vile things I've ever eaten, thankfully only 580 calories and actually less since I didn't have cheese on it.
-
So the idea is to get this awful taste out of Ye Olde Mouthe.

I have put together my trip notebook for the anniversary trip Richard and I are taking this month. Major destinations: Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; St. Augustine, FL (where there's a clergy meeting Jan. 19-20). We are driving, so the Weather Channel has become my new best friend.

AARRGGHH!! I don't suppose anyone recorded tonight's People's Choice Awards. I said that I'd record them for my friend Margo, but I forgot and just realized that. I missed the first hour and 15 minutes...only 45 minutes left.
Dopey me.

Back from eating a GOOD turkey sandwich and a cup of chicken corn chowder. I'm full.
