And that is why I seldom date younger men!

Me, either. ;)

Good Evening!

Well, fellow Savvy Travelers,

I guess when Mark Cohn sang of "Walkin' In Memphis", he was wasn't staying near the airport.  It's very hard to walk around here since there's basically no sidewalks to walk on.  And since there is a FedEx and UPS hub nearby, as well as a Peterbilt truck plant, well, let's just say, I found myself unexpectedly playing chicken with a semi earlier this evening while walking around.

However, this part of town does seem to have it's share of entertainment venues.  While walking along one shoulder, I passed "New York, New York," - a gentleman's club, where "You Can Come Play In Their City".  Then a few blocks down I came across "Passion Place" - which happened to be featuring women's boxing tonight.  -Oh, and I'm guessing the "Fantasy Warehouse" next door is their sister retail establishment.  Finally, there was the "Black Tail Magazine Shake Joint".  Alas, the neon sign out front did not seem to be working properly... or maybe it was.

In any case, I'll be checking out the Overton Square area tomorrow... Huey's for burgers, The Blue Monkey for a draft and a game of pool, Bosco's for a local brew and great pizza, etc., etc., etc.

Of course, after being tempted by the smell wafting, well, practically being pumped down the jet ramp at the airport, from Jim Neely's Interstate Barbecue and Corky's, I'm sure some "dry" and "wet" ribs, and some pulled pork goodness will be part of my culinary adventures over the next couple of day.  -Oh, and if I can swing it, I hope to make it over to Dinstuhl's for their signature Cashew Crunch and Chocolate-Covered Grapes ( yes, grapes!).

That's all for now.

Don't forget to wipe your chin.

I guess for Dakota Celt's edification I should mention I had a very nice telephonic call from Mr. Matthew Ashford.

I shall shortly be on my way to sup with Mr. Cason Murphy.

I am very happy with the writing I got done today, both the amount and the content.

At first I thought you typed "medicated communications."

I will have to tell him that.... That would definitely put an interesting spin on the related areas of study: Internet and organizational communications....

Cute Laura, I find amusing!! :)

Yep.... Good episode...

SPOILER ALERT>>>>>>>>>

-Except that they should have taken a lesson from "ER" on how to create/re-create a disaster scene.  The CGI wreckage and fire and smoke was distracting.  And there should have been more smoke inside the ferry.  But still a good episode

The few times I have seen it, I have enjoyed it also. I try to watch that and Ugly Betty online.

Good to hear! I know that Elizabeth George is well-known in the US, but then again, she's American. I didn't know how broad Minette's following was. She certainly deserves it.

I have been working my way through the Elizabeth George novels.  I think I only have three left to read in her detective series.

Did you find the Cuddl Duds (no e in cuddl)?  Sometimes I wear one over the other for extra layering.  They are great for the spring and fall too.  Ski shops usually have thin, but warm socks.  Remember several lighter layers can be warmer than one bulky layer.

Just had some Famous Amos cookies, which I don't think i've had in years.  They're still good, but not the extraordinary treat I remember from many years ago.

They're having a Chocolate Throwdown, or something like that, on the Food Network.  My kind of sporting event.

2006 usage stats:

Devil's Feather, 2006 = 127
Fox Evil, 2003 = 27
Disordered Minds, 2004 = 25
The Breaker, 1999 = 15
The Echo, 1997 = 14
The Dark Room, 1996 = 12
Acid Row, 2002 = 10
The Shape of Snakes, 2001 = 5
The Scold's Bridle,1994 = 5
The Sculptress, 1993 = 5
The Ice House, 1992 = 2

It's not uncommon for the most recent to have the highest usage, but it's interesting that the descent in use doesn't reflect publication date directly.  I didn't include the large-type or audio versions.

Wow! Such detail! Thank you, GINNY!

Well, once the original Famous Amos got sold his business - or got bought out depending on who's story you listen to - the cookies did change.  Frankly, I never found the original ones all that "spectacular".  However, crushed Famous Amos cookies mixed into vanilla ice cream.. YUM!

...And if you want some "real" Famous Amos' cookies, pick up a package of Aunt Della's.  Amos' aunt was named Della.  -And since Wally Amos actually lost the right to use his own name on his products after he was bought out by Keebler/Kellogg's/etc...

As for "true crime"...  The Beltway Snipers - or whatever they were called - who randomly shot and killed various people in and around the DC area.  -And even down near Richmond.

Thankfully, they - a father and son, I believe - were caught (due to a sort of fluke), and their trials have produced guilty verdicts.  -And now the justice system - and the loved ones of the victims - are dealing with just how many trials - and guilty verdicts - there have to be to bring everything to closure.

Even more interesting, DR JOSE--the "father and son" weren't blood relations. The "father" was a mentor of sorts. Yes, quite frightening.

Oh, that's right.  And since the young man was a minor... and possibly brain-washed...  Just a sad situation all around.
