DR William F. Orr, I like the carpet.  Thanks for the photo.

It is nice to have you posting again, and with such a fancy flair on the type. :)

If you ever visit Fort Stockton, TX, avoid the La Quinta Inn.

   >:(

[Why you would want to visit Ft. Stockton anyway, I have no idea.  But, that's beside the point.]

Not only did the hair dryer not work (nor did it work in the room next to us), but something is very wrong with the hotel's key activating system.  I've now haw to walk up to the office four times (in an ice cold wind) to get one of my 2 keys reactivated.

So, why did we choose the La Quinta in the first place?

They are pet friendly...and we have 2 dogs/1 cat with us.

 :-\

Since getting Sherlock we have stayed at several when driving between Ashland & L.A.  They have been rather clean, roomy & comfortable.  Considering some of the dumps we have stayed at in the past we were very pleased.  These must have been newer buildings.

Some of those dumps had key card problems-very, very annoying.

I'm quite up after quite a good night's sleep.  It looks pretty out so maybe in an hour I'll go do the long jog.  Then I have to pack up a few more orders and I'll drive those to the post office, then it's on to proofing.

Keith is wearing his skinny clothes today and looks fantastic.  Now I feel like a blimp next to him & shall have to work at getting back into my skinny clothes, after I finish all the Baskin Robins ice cream I purchased last week.

The photographer in attendance last night at the Gardenia, who BK speaks of in today's notes, is Henry Diltz. Over the years, Diltz has shot some of the most iconic album cover photos in rock history. His photos grace the covers of The Doors' "Morrison Hotel" album, James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James," Crosby, Stills & Nash's debut album (in which the trio are on a porch, sitting on a couch) and Jackson Browne's self-titled debut. He's also shot Jimi Hendrix playing at Woodstock; the Who’s Pete Townshend smashing his guitar onstage during the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival; and the Eagles having an Old West shootout in Agoura Hills, Calif., during a 1972 cover shoot for the “Desperado” album. You can view his work at http://www.morrisonhotelgallery.com. Diltz is also a musician; since the 1960s, he's been a member of the Modern Folk Quartet.

Diltz, right!  I remember really liking him during the Partridge cruise and also remember him hanging around the set on other episodes.  I should have reminded him last night, but it was too crazy after the show, as it always is.

DR Jane, re: the hiding of the matzah.

It's been a while. But i definitely remember hiding the matzah (me and my sister did this). ANd then my grandparents i believe went to find it. I cannot remember if it mattered if they found it or not. They always gave us money. But when i was explaining it to my niece i said "you get money or treats" since money would really mean nothing to her.

DR Jose, that link you posted yesterday re: the choreographer from So You Think You Can Dance. Yipes!

I wouldn't imagine it would affect the show since he's not on that much. But still i'm sure it would freak out everyone involved with the show.

Oh when i was mentioning what i will watch on tv tonight i forgot tonight is the female finles of Star Academie (quebec's american idol).

It is very weird. This is the first year i've watched. Last sunday they had the men's finale. And they went from 4 to 1. There are 4 girls left. So i guess the public will pick one. Not sure if that is the end or if the female and male go against each other.

How's your weather, Cilla?
LOL, I woke up to see........a little skiff of snow on the grass and the road and driveway wet.  My parents are about 120 miles from here and got 2-3 inches of snow.  We were supposed to have 7-9 inches of snow and they were supposed to have over 12 inches of snow.

it is VERY windy, so if it was snowing you probably couldn't see much, but it's 37 degrees and not snowing, so you can see just fine

There are tons of birds outside that have either arrived after migrating or are stopping on their way farther north.  It's driving Boo crazy!

BK:

As soon as I read "arrangement of 'The Man I Love' " I had the piano part running through my head.  It is on Sharon McNight's "Sophie Tucker Songbook" album and she uses it in her wonderful Sophie show, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers.  It is by her pianist James "Jim Bob" Followell, according to the album, but I always thought it was exactly the way George Gershwin would have played for that song.  One must remember that many of his ballads were played much more up-tempo then than today.
