I took a well-earned day off today.  And I vegged most the day away.

I did spend a couple of hours with the WB DVD of "The Bad and the Beautiful" -- loved every bit of it...both movie and features, especially the TCM feature on Lana Turner with daugher Cheryl Crane.

"Stargate: SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis" are back to showing new episodes on the Sci-Fi channel...and the world is a much friendlier place because of it.

Hey, we just picked up 3 more theatres---2 in Florida and one in Wilmington, DE. Is that where SWoodyWhite and Der B are?

We are in Rehoboth Beach, 1.5 hours south.
Depending on the schedule, we might sally forth.

The "Prestige" showing would be at the The Tenth Annual Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival,  November 7 - 11, 2007

Lasy year, sumissions were due in June ($25 fee).

Last night the Vixter, my brother and I attended an Art Garfunkel concert!

I was suprised to see Mr. Garfunkel was not as  tall  as I had assumed all these years....he seemed to be barely 5'6"... but he was in good voice
we had very good seats. 8th row and we very much enjoyed the show

The Vixter insisted she had never heard of "this guy" before and then he started singing some old  S & G tunes.... "HEY! I know this music!"

Are you going to watch the preview of Painkiller Jane?
(It's fun - I'd give it a B-)

Good Evening!

Thanks for all the "Congrats" on the new-but-not-really-new gig.  I'll be heading up to Westport a bit early tomorrow to cram the keyboard book into my fingers and brain.  I did a fast read-thru of it before tonight's show, and it's actually pretty easy.  However, some of the patch/programming changes are quite fast, so that's what I'll have to get used to.

Mr. Kander had some friends in tonight, so I'm guessing one of them took notes for him tonight.  ;)  Seriously, if there's something that he wants to remember, he'll remember it - if that makes sense.

Tomorrow night is Opening Night, but our press night is not until next Thursday.  -Which sort of takes some of the pressure of me, since I'll have a few performances under my belt - and fingers - before the reviewers come.

...And I have to say, that although I'm very flattered and honored to have been asked to take over the keyboard book, I was actually sort of looking to having a couple of days off in a row next week.  However, at least I can keep some of my usual and preferred nightowl hours - sleep late, wake up late.  :)

-And the extra paychecks aren't a bad tradeoff either.

The only fly in the ointment was the estatic fan sitting directly behind me.. she was singing along to EVERYTHING!!!! Not just under her breath singing along I mean singing so Artie could enjoy her musical talents....  which were sadly lacking

I tried the  "turn around  and glare " move a couple of times as did my brother, and the 2 women sitting next to him.  At one point she sang so loudlu and raucously  all 4 of us as well as three people in front of me turned around to glare at her

she was completely oblivious her husband didn;t notice her singing over his running commentary of the show... finally the woman next to my brother turned around and tapped her on the knee and said' Ma'm we really paid to see Mr. Garfunkle's SOLO act"

The annoying woman turned to her husband and said "Can you beleive that woman?!"

At that point I turned around and said "What I  can't believe is YOUR continued rudeness in ruining the show for everyone around you!"

Commentary man said  "What did she say?!"

"OH! Apparently I"M rude because I'm enjoying the show!!"

At which time my brother turned around and said

"WE would also like to enjoy the show but we can't hear it!"

and she finally shut up

That's what I had always thought, but it sure didn't look like it, unless all the guys in his band were 6'5". We were only about 10 feet away from him, but I suppose the angle of the seating may have thrown  my perspective off.

He was also wearing boots with 3 inch heels.

My favorite "comeback" in situations like that is to turn to the person, and ask them, "Excuse, what's your name?...  Oh, well, I don't see your name printed on my ticket.  I didn't pay to hear you."

HOFFA SIXPENCE - the story behind the missing CD release of Half a Sixpence

(I think we've done that one before, but it's tasteless enough to merit a second try)

"Excuse me can I please have my $(fill in ticket price)  back?  I thought I was going to hear _____________________  not rude audience member"
