THE ME WEEKEND

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very ME-centric, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently laboring but shall cease immediately.

Welcome seven GUESTS.  Come on in, the water's fine.  Even if you don't think you should, do it, do it now.  The time is nigh and you might regret it if you don't take the bull by the horns or the horns by the bull and just bite the bullet and converse.  We need to converse - it makes the world a better place.

Very few people call me anymore to just converse - what a shame.

Thanks to all for the vibes for Opening Night.  We had a very enthusiastic audience.  Some line bobbles here and there - myself included - but all in all it went very well.

The audience was laughing ALL night as though the play was brand new - it is VERY funny.

Of course one of the WEE players - who plays Officer Brophy forgot to bring out his blackjack, so he had nothing to hit me with when I was strangling Officer Klein......I guess I just collapsed from the effort.

And the preshow music started - and it was the scene change CD.  When I called up to the booth, the girl said...."Well we'll do what we can....."  And some of the scene changes had NO music....

Oh well....

DR JRand59, your story reminds me of an article or interview I was reading with some cast member of some production of The Full Monty.  During the final number, the guys realized that the lighting cue had gotten off by one, and they realized that the final moment of the show was not going to be covered by the special lighting effect.  I can't remember what they did - I think they just stuck it out, and the audience got an extra bonus that night.

Good morning!

Another very cool morning that will lead to a very warm afternoon in the mid 80s. Ugh! But right now it feels wonderful!

I had the closest to normal night of sleep I've had in six weeks. Very encouraging. My arm hurt less and the cramping in my right hand was less severe than it's been. It might have happened the day AFTER my birthday, but it was still a wonderful birthday gift from "on high."

I wish those Paramount TV box sets would come today. I don't mind taking some days off after today (it is a holiday weekend), but box sets for a regular TV season take three days apiece for me to get through them, and I don't want to feel rushed and frenzied trying to get through them with deadlines looming if I don't have to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they arrive today.

Good morning, all! A year ago last evening I was in the ER because of my idiot doctor's failure to diagnose my diabetes. I have survived the year, not as gracefully as I would have liked, but I'm here!

This morning I have several errands. The first is to run the music for the recording over to Brent Barrett's apartment, and the second is my first meeting with the mighty talented Rob Berman on FINIAN'S RAINBOW at 11:00. When I get back here, I plan to look up an alternate carpenter so if George's ass isn't in this apartment on Tuesday securing those damned bookcases, I'm firing it. This nonasense is driving me crazy: I can find nothing, the clutter annoys me no end and it's gone on far too long.

TOD:
DVD: too much clutter to find anything
CD:  Merrie England, How To Murder Your Wife, Im Weissen Rossl, Liz Callaway, Guy Haines
    VCR: too much clutter

MEdia Check:

iPod:  ootlegbays of TIMBUKTU! and a show that tried and died in Philly in the 80s, DADDY GOODNESS.  From what I've sampled, they're both barely listenable but I am curious.

Tivo:  PROJECT RUNWAY and the PR All-Stars show from two weeks back

DVD:  an ABC Movie of the Week goodie--DYING ROOM ONLY with Cloris Leachman

I'm glad you had a good opening, DR JRand, but I'm sorry that you're saddled with such an apathetic crew on this one.

DR JRand58, it was your opening night, and I'm sure tonight will be better. I swear the play is foolproof unless you've got two charmless old ladies. And it's my belief that audiwnces today are so obtuse that they would swear there was scene change music under every change.

To All HAINSIES and KIMLETS-

I and My Wife will be leaving Tonight for a Two Week Vacation To Eastern Europe. We are going on a Blue Danube River Cruse(Which I now hear is Brown)

Bratislavia-Slovakia
Vienna-Austria
Durnstein-Austria
Melk-Austria
Linz(Salzburg)-Austria
Passau-Germany
Regensburg-Germany
Nurenberg-Germany

and 3 Days in Prague-Czech Republic

I will take loads of pictures and will report(Not as Well as Jose and Monkey) the Gastronomic Delights that we encounter and Eat

We will be back on September 17th

For Obvious reasons there will be No Song of the Day during our Vacation.
But I will be back shiny and refreshed in Two Weeks .

Meanwhile-The Song of Two Weeks is(of course) THE BLUE DANUBE WALTZ
