ATTACK OF THE MUPPET PEOPLE
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:59:26 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, you've imagined the notes as read by either Miss Piggy or Oscar the Grouch, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently writing about their favorite MOOpets.

TOD:

Kermit, of course, is my favorite Muppet.

Aside from the odd Chung King commercial or two, I would say that I first became aware of Muppetry through Rowlf and his weekly appearances on The Jimmy Dean Show. There were also the Ed Sullivan spots and then the TV specials such as THE GREAT SANTA CLAUS CAPER and HEY CINDERELLA!

My favorite movie would be THE MUPPET MOVIE.

I have to admit that I was never a fan of Jim Henson's fantasy movies such as LABYRINTH and THE DARK CRYSTAL.  Yes, the designs were imaginative but I found both of these movies to be unbearably slow.

My favorite Henson non-Muppet project would have to be EMMET OTTER'S JUGBAND CHRISTMAS.

Love THE MUPPET SHOW.

Really liked the episodes with Rudolf Nuryev and the one with Julie Andrews.

Statler & Hilton were always very funny.

I really liked "The Cat Came Back" - I think that was TPS and not Sesame Street.

Has the Fritz Lang Indian Saga been discussed here......

If you are a Lang fan, I would highly recommend this 1959 film.  It's a two part action romance set in India.  Beautiful color on the Fantoma set I bought.....I watched it in German with English subtitles.....most enjoyable.

Ms Debra Paget as a dancer wears a costume in the second part that would make a pole dancer blush....and does some very suggestive dancing....in part one in the temple....in part two with a cobra!

Lots of fun.

Good morning, all! This could be a bleak week because of Thanksgiving. We may not be paid before next week, if the Calfornia office is closed, as we suspect. We're rarely notified about such things as "turn in invoices before such a date if you want to be paid" since the institute considers us bastard cousins after eight years. Still, I may be pleasantly surprised and find the transfer in my account tomorrow; you never know with them. I have my fingers crossed. Otherwise, it's crackers and water until I'm paid.

This morning, my reporter friend JohnG sent me an email telling me he most likely won't be coming to HHW until after Thanksgiving because of three projects he's currently juggling.

Beyond that, I have work here and I will get to it immediately

TOD: I remember playing the original "Songs from Sesame Street" recording with "Trash," "Ruber Ducky," "Green," and other songs in college but I have no memory of when I first saw the Muppets. My favorite film wth Henson creations is the wonderful Dennis Potter film DREAMCHILD, which has woefully never been made avalable as a DVD.

I arrived yesterday afternoon in Florida, after a rather uneventful trip.  I was expecting mass crowds at the ariport, with people getting an early jump on the holiday week.  But I must have picked a very good window of time for my flight, because that did not happen.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  I got through security faster than ever, and my plane wasn't even full --- I had the whole row to myself.  When is the last time that happened?  For me - years and years.

Anyhoo, it's lovely here.  Nice and warm.  Sunny now, but they are expecting some "weather" later this afternoon, so I think I'll grab some quick breakfast and then take a nice long swim while it's really beautiful outside.

Safe travels to all heading out today.

Vibes to all.
