Title: ACTIVE BRAIN SYNDROME
Post by: bk on November 10, 2019, 12:10:26 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were active, had a brain, and had a syndrome, and now it is time for you to post until the active cows come home.

T.O.D.

I think I came here in 2002.  My friend, Sharry, had asked me if I had any idea where she could find a mailing address for Jerry Herman.  I told i would see what I could find on the internet.  I was searching, and one of the sites connected to Mr. Herman was this site.  I have no idea why, but I came here and never left.

A lot of memorable events, but really, the bottom line is the people who are here now and those that have left us for one reason or another.

About finding HHW, I wrote this on November 09, 2004, 02:27:14 PM:
Quote
I, too, will not attempt to imitate BK's inimitable style.  I started coming to HHW sometime during the summer after it started (June or July, I think).  I didn't know about The Real A on sondheim.com, only BK's notes on FA.  When that site no longer proved welcoming, I drifted without direction until I found HHW.  I've been coming here ever since (except for when my computer permanently crashed in April of this year and I had no easy access.  I wasn't able to spend ALL of my time at work on HHW...that would be unseemly ::) ).

Anyway, meeting Jeff (and Jeff's wife and kids), Mike (MBarnum) and Jane a few months ago was a thrill.  Hopefully, we can have another PNW HHW gathering that will include Jed, Ann and Tom (TCB)*.  Maybe BK can take a field trip to the Northwest!**

*We eventually did.

**BK eventually did, too.

My HMO has a message system which is how I communicate with my various doctors.  In the 25+ years I have used my pharmacy, which is not a big franchise, but a mom & pop store, I have neither expected nor requested an alert when my prescriptions are ready.  However, I do expect my doctor to reply to my messages.

If she had replied something along the lines of "They've been sent to your pharmacy," all would have been fine.

And I slept quite well last night.  I still wonder when this long streak of poor work and income will end and I continue to worry about making those payments by the 18th.  It's difficult to live on the hope that tomorrow  that Ohio property will actually sell as it is to expect s lottery win.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep and awoke to a message that our Mrs. Stanley had a car accident and will not be at rehearsal this day - she's fine but is going to get checked out.  I have yet to have a single rehearsal where everyone has been with us.  I believe TWO people are out today - our Professor Metz is as well.

Some moron posts about the death of Meadowlark Lemon - as always just shares what he sees as if it was new - without even clicking to see the how, when, and why of it.  I called him on it.  What does Mr. Moron do?  Admit it?  No.  Doubles down and says "I didn't know it happened."  Well, had you clicked on the article you would have seen that this happened four YEARS ago in 2015.  And every moron friend of this moron's is acting like it just happened, my favorite of which was the Big Moron who actually posted, "How sad, I just saw him play last week."  And then this guy tells in all CAPS to shut up or I'm gone.  I made a final rather scathing post, told him I didn't need HIM to tell me to be gone, unfriended and blocked.  One less moron.  And remember, these morons friended ME at some point, not the other way around.

My sister and I were talking to the real estate agent.  It turns out she lives just two streets away from me.

She graduated from our local high school....probably the same year or the year after my sister Molly....

She asked me when I graduated and I told 1968....and she said her brother did, too.....Steve....who I knew.....and who just happens to be married to our cousin Debbie....

We shall see.

Small towns.....

Small towns indeed!

The Seattle Sounders won the MLS championship.

I heard about that.  Congrats to the Sounders!

Since my chemotherapy, I have been getting skin tags.

I finally found some Tea Tree Oil in a roll on bottle and have been using it.  It really dries them up.....takes some time - three or four weeks - but it works.

Thanks for the tip. I have a couple I'd like to get rid of them.

I have several. ::)

:P

I also found the English National Opera's version of Street Scene, a copy of Brahms' First and a Rossini opera called Armida that I know nothing about (but it was 3 CDs for $2).

Can't beat that!  Congrats on finding the find during the sale!

Booksmart spoiler alert:

Had to laugh at the soon-to-be high school grad who tells a girl that he really wants to make millions from designing airplanes and then use the money to produce new musicals.

"Enough with the revivals already," he says.

Good! :D

So, one idea for word-of-mouth advertising for Songs for a New World that the producer had was to give people who saw the show a business card sized poster of the show.  They would put their name and contact info on the back of the card and then give it to someone who would then come to see the show and put the aforementioned card in a bowl for a drawing.

At the intermission of the last (today's) show, a name was drawn and that person (who gave the card) won a $40 gift certificate to a local restaurant, Octapas Cafe (https://octapascafe.com/).  Well, I won the gift certificate! ;D

I didn't go to the restaurant after the show today.  Margo and I went to McMenamin's The Spar.  That was good because we each ordered the Happy Hour half Caesar salads, and the cook didn't read the ticket correctly and gave us both the full sized Caesar salads!

The waitress explained what happened and said that since it was their mistake, we get the big salad for the small price!  Score!

We also got the two Happy Hour Cheeseburger sliders (one for each of us).  That's become our usual at McMenamin's whenever we're there during the Happy Hours (3-6 pm, and 10-closing). :)

I've been watching THE KING AND I. It's not my favorite musical, but it was a fine production, with some excellent voices. I've always liked Kelli O'Hara, too.

I watched it tonight, as well.  I don’t know if it was the PBS station or the recording from my cable company, but I had a great deal of ghosting during the broadcast.  Most annoying.
