And I am back from THE BOOK OF MORMON. which is outrageously funny and even more outrageously rude. I kept thinking it was much ado about two Mormons wiping out their past, very similar to Christopher Durang's hysterically funny and rude anti-Catholic comedies. At one point I thought the show was going to get really dark but the subsequent scene and the x-ray were so much ruder than an assassination. I don't know if "The Small House of Uncle Thomas" inspired the native pageant, but I kept thinking of THE KING & I during it.
I didn't think much of the score beyond that it served the piece well, but the arrangements are fantastic and the tiny 9-piece band sounds huge. The cast was great and I laughed a lot. I think Casey Nicholaw is an amazing talent and the show moves fast and furiously funny. The casr is really quie wonderful, and I saw my friends Michael Jablonski and Kevin Duda afterwards. Kevin and I stepped out for a bit; he the producer of our Appalachian show. I had hoped to see Nick Spangler, my friend who was an AMAZING RACE winner several yearsag, but he'd already vanished. They have another show at 7:00 tonight.
