Danise and Sandra are thinking about the C.B. DeMille epic, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH with Stewart, Charlton Heston, Betty Hutton, Cornel Wilde, my old pal Henry Wilcoxon (who I got to know in the last years of his life), and many others.
Which, frankly, I think is a terrible picture...and, for my money, has the distinction of being the worst film to ever win an Oscar for best picture. It beat out THE QUIET MAN, IVANHOE, MOULIN ROUGE, and HIGH NOON. With the exception of THE QUIET MAN, admittedly not an exceptional year, but any one of them would have been better than the GREATEST SHOW...
