If I could bring back ONE show, it would be the Canadian TV show, SLINGS & ARROWS from a few years back...simply the greatest show about actors and theatre EVER!

I bought this series  on DVD "blind" (or "coled") just because Paul Gross is so highly regarded for his part in it.  Haven't watched it, but I appreciate the feedback from Mr. Pogue.

Ron, did you get all three series of the show?  I never like to tell another person "you'll love it" or "over-hype" something, because one can never tell about another's personal taste.  I can only say I love it.  It was like watching years of my life roll by.  I found it incredibly funny as well as incredibly moving.  It hits me deep where I live.

I loved the series and praised it highly when it was being broadcast. Several DRs on HHW were apathetic about the whole thing when they checked it out.

Yes.  At first, I bought them as separate seasons.  A few days after they all arrived, Amazon recommended all three seasons in one box, at considerably less than what I'd paid "per season".   So...back the individual sets went and Amazon was cool with taking them back and sending me the complete series box.

I bought the entire series.  I haven't watched the entire series...yet, but I've certainly enjoyed what I have watched. :)

I've been catching up with MAD MEN.  I guess the few minutes I caught the other night on AMC were from the season premiere.  Some fun stuff this season, am enjoying getting back into the show.

Good season of MAD MEN, although there was much grumbling from some quarters about the emphasis on Don & Betty's home life.

DR ELMORE - my guess is the weather in Ohio was most pleasant as well.

Thanks to all for the comments on my comments.

SLINGS & ARROWS was most entertaining, and sometimes TOO close to my experience.....but Mr Paul Gross was most excellent.

I forgot about the free pastry, and they sure didn't go out of their way to remind me!

Maybe I should make a trip back...

DR JRand - thanks for sharing the stories about your Aunt Betty.  I'm glad your family had a nice day to honor and remember her.

I keep forgetting about flax. I hear it's good for you and it doesn't do anything bad to the taste

I put in flax seed oil. You can't taste that, either.

Robert Kimball was in Atlanta recently (may have involved the Mercer doc since he was in it) but nobody even invited me to meet him. Harumph.

Glad your had a good day to say goodbye to your aunt, DR JRand, and to be with family at this time.

On another issue: I vote for nuts. Somehow a brownie seems lacking in something without the flavor and the contrasting texture that nuts provide. i prefer pecans, but walnuts will do in a pinch. And, if you're making brownies and have plenty of self-will, make up the batter and let it set in the refrigerator overnight. The chocolate flavors will intensify. I learned that trick from Alice Medrich, queen of chocolate.

The last week has been difficult and I haven't been here much because of all of the in-law tending. Greg's dad is now home but his mom is still in the hospital. In a way it was easier when they were in the same hospital because we didn't have to split ourselves up so much. So we've been taking turns dad-sitting and taking him back and forth to the hospital to visit. We hope by the end of the week to have a health care worker check up on him daily and make sure he takes his meds and eats, and my m-i-l will probably go to a facility for re-hab for a few weeks with the goal of getting stronger and coming home. She had been turned down by our two favorite places, but "Christian City" is going to take her, probably tomorrow.

This has been pretty emotionally grueling for everybody and I feel so sad for Greg's dad. They don't have a support group of friends and lead a very isolated life.

Too bad they're not into "social networking"!

I, too, loved it. It was so well done and very like some companies where I worked! Althought it would be nice to have more episodes, I'm glad they didn't go so long that they ended up with a dry well. It had a great three seasons.

I like chocolate and nuts but am kind of a purist. That said, I do love our friend Rachel's fudge. Which reminds me, I need to send some to TCB, who helped come up with the name for her new business: Gem City Sweets.

Today we're trying to think of a new name for our film. The original was: JEWS AND BASEBALL: AN AMERICAN LOVE STORY. But the producer has decided he doesn't like that, so we're kicking around ideas. A few of them I've kicked pretty hard!

But my greatest pleasure with fudge is to mix a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter into the pot before the candy starts to set.

I also think people are over analyzing and/or stressing WAY too much about the Vilanch blurb.  It's not your typical "fawning" blurb, which is what makes it so funny.  I think Vilanch is better known than Pogue gives him credit for being.  If MBarnum knows who he is, chances are the rest of Salem does, too (in a metaphorical sense).  ;)

True, but MBarnum also knows who Karishma Kapoor is, and I am not sure the rest of Salem knows her.
