Title: THE LATE, LATER NOTES

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both late and later, and now it is time for you to post until the late and later cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  well...I vaguely remember watching reruns of The Lone Ranger and Bonanza.  That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge of cowboy actors of the Golden Age. ::)

I didn't sleep well last night, so after feeding the cats I went back to bed.  Within 15 minutes Annabelle was tossing objects and Stella wasa walking over me.  I did sleep a bit, but at 7:30 Annabelle started tossing things again and I decided that was it.

I had a long dream about Steve Sondheim last night.  I don't remember how the two parts linked up, but in the first half I was riding in a taxi with him; in the second half I was at Chelsea Music.  At Steve's request I was working on a "festival" piece he had composed for soloists, chorus, and orchestra.  A lot of my music copyist friends were there, some giving me instructions on what needed to be done, others working on projects who stopped by to offer their thoughts or to say hello.

I must make a bank trip this morning.  I received my beneficiary check from the estate of my late friend Bob Ulman in yesterday's mail, and the estate wants a notarized acknowledgement of receipt.

The earliest westerns I remember are the Saturday morning shows:
Annie Oakley
Roy Rogers
The Gene Autry Show

My dad loved westerns, so during high school and junior high we watched:
Bonanza
Rawhide
The Lawman
Sugarfoot
Cheyenne
Gunsmoke
Wagon Train
The Rebel

I need to take advantage of this digital age and try taking some of my own photos in B&W.

My trip for a notary public sent me to two banks. The notary at the corner bank was tied up until 1:00 and I didn't fancy a two-hour wait, so I took the bus to 72nd Street and went to Citibank.  I was out in 10 minutes.

Speaking of B&W photos, would you believe I have a real darkroom in my house that’s set up for black-and-white film and photo developing? (Color is a lot more demanding in terms of equipment and temperature and light control.)

When the house was being built and it was decided that I was to be its owner, I was able to ask for a few custom things, and this was one of them. I sketched out what I needed in terms of a sink and countertop and cabinet space, and they made room for it by taking a few feet of interior garage space which didn’t impact the parking of a car there, and building a narrow room out into that space. It’s entered from the Music Room and looks like just another closet.

Sadly, that age has passed, even though I’m often tempted to shoot a few rolls and have at it for old times sake. And I’m afraid it’s just a storage space now, even though all the equipment is there and it could easily be made operational again if I cleared everything else out of there. But I really need to accept that that ain’t gonna happen, and clean it up and sell it.

That is interesting DR CHAS SMITH.....I have never lived in a house that was specifically built for me.....

It wasn’t built for me until the end stages. But the builder was a friend, and he was able and willing to accommodate my few crazy ideas, such as including the darkroom, having the laundry room upstairs with the bedrooms, and a couple of little things I can’t even think of now.

DR Chas that is cool you have a dark room and used to develop photos.  Our first home in Michigan had a dark room in our bedroom which was a converted art studio.  We used it for our closet.

You know what’s sad? I don’t even have a picture of the darkroom! :)

Fortunately, I’ll be able to remedy that, both as a means of listing the equipment for sale and of course to have the memento.

It was a wonderful experience to be trusted by Jim, and his rep then for his novels Jesseca Salky, with making a musical of that novel.

The last thing he wrote to us when we sent him the latest 2019 version of the script was:
"I appreciate the script PDF. Rest assured that I am delighted to be with you always on the VIVA MAX! adventure. My best, Jim"

My father had a dark room in his house in Canada ...he owned two hasselblatt cameras and did some lovely work.  My nephews wife is a photographer so we all agreed that he should inherit the bulk of his grandfathers phitography stuff.
