I believe that François withdrew himself from the Member List.

Perhaps he'll return when he's over whatever brought this on.

Peut-être il retournera quand il est excédent celui qui ait apporté ceci dessus.

Cillaliz, Sam Meranto just called me on the phone. My name was drawn for a free tv and hypnosis session because he wants to help me with depression or to make more money. What a swell guy!

(Cillaliz will remember him; he has the cheesiest tv commercials for hypnosis.)

"Sam Meranto. Sam Meranto. That's Sam Meranto."

Was this an April fool?  I guess I've really been gone a long time...I don't remember him.  Maybe while watching his ads there was a suggestion that I forget

I just got the new issue of my alumni magazine and I was saddened to learn that my friend Bill Aue died last August.  He was a good friend in college, a very good actor who didn't pursue it after he moved here. In the past 29 years I've lived in Manhattan, I probably saw him maybe four or five times.  He clearly did not want to maintain old friendships but every time I saw him it was a nice visit.  I ran into him last year and he looked fragile, but he was always tall and thin so I just thought it was age.

He and Dan Dietrich, a grad student in the very sexually repressed atmosphere of Donald Rosenberg's tenure for far too long as director of Miami University Theatre, dared to become a "couple" in 1968 or 1969.  Dr Rosenberg was as lousy a man as he was a stage director.  He still reminds me of Joseph McCarthy.  He had a lovely wife who drank too much and a predilection for casting cute blondes with huge bazooms in his leading lady roles; most couldn't act, move, or chew gum and walk at the same time. He was evil, narrow-minded, bigoted, and worst of all a boring teacher.

When I got to New York, Dan had given up acting - he has a brief scene in one of Romero's Dawn/Day of the Dead movies - and he was in the Men's Chorus.  I remember visiting Dan in the 1970s on one of my visits to New York and he was working with the WPA and letting some porn maker - Jack Deveau maybe? - film in his apartment for extra cash.  Miami alumni Steve and Rebecca Young, married puppeteers who worked with Wayland Flowers at the Village Gate in an erotic puppet show called "Kumquats,", and I went to see a crazy midnight show at the WPA with Dan. I remember we had to wait for him to lock up the theatre and I have this memory that we went to Phoebe's - another long-gone hangout - on the Bowery.

He and his companion moved to Los Angeles around 1983, and he died of AIDS around 1985 or so.  Both Dan and Bill died too young and I hope they achieved as much as they could from their lives.

And we who survive must tell the tale. They're not for the memoirs.

George, we also went to Costco today.  I purchased more books to read.

Okay, here's an April Fool's Joke that happened to me...it's really funny, but it isn't a joke.  It really just happend today. ;D

At Costco, when I bought the "Fleet Street gift set" for "Sweeney Todd," I also wanted a 100-pack of the "Forever" stamps, so I grabbed the cardboard thing that you're supposed to take up to the register and get the stamps there.  Well, I paid for both and left, but the person at the register forgot to get me the actual stamps (and keep the cardboard thing).  I didn't think about it either and I left with the cardboard thing!  I came back to work and tried to open it, but there was nothing to open!  It was just a piece of cardboard with the notice, "Please take this package to the register to purchase" written on it.  AND the person at the door who marks off the receipt when you leave didn't question it when I left, either!

Back to Costco. ::)

So... The plan for tomorrow, as it stands right now, is that my parents will be taking the 5:30AM bus from Atlantic City and getting around 8:00. I think.  And I may or may not be meeting them for breakfast.  Then I start my auditions at 10:00, and if things go like they did today, I may be done by 1:00 - which means that I might be able to meet them at the theatre before they going into Curtains - and I may even go see the show again too myself!  -Then after they show, we'll meet for dinner before they get back on the bus to Atlantic City.  After I see them off, then I'll be seeing South Pacific tomorrow night.

In other words, tomorrow is going to be a long day.

It claims to let you send emails in the past. So you can send that email you wish you would have sent or forgot to send
