Our Father's Day celebration at church is that the children make root beer floats for the dads and everyone after the service.

DR ELMORE the Hal Dream0-O-Matic 6000 tells us that little Taylor Kincaid is the person you are writing your BABES IN TOYLAND book for, even if you don't know it.

You have been "in the audience" with him since you started.

Happy Father's Day!  ;)

DR JRand 56, I am so floored by such a brilliant explanation that I do not know what to say.  Thank you.

And so, I head off to Toylamd.

DR td, I do not know the Eric Larsen book, although I loved DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY. I know of Dr Crippen because of the Act One finale of ONE TOUCH OF VENUS, "Here's to Dr Crippin, Hawley Harvey Crippin, lying in a felon's grave . . ." and the British musical BELLE, in which Dr Crippen's pathetic music hall wife Belle Elmore(???) is sung so wonderfully off-key by Rose Hill.

And so, to Toyland.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I guess I should be running around the Reservoir right now, but I'm not.  Which is OK.  It took me a while to fall asleep last night - there was a lot of noise out on the street, and I don't think I really fell asleep until around 4:00am.  Of course, the original plan was to get up around 8:30am and then head to the Park, but two laps around the Reservoir after just four and a half hours of sleep... I don't think so.  In any case, depending just how hot and humid it gets today, I may go for a run once I get back from the matinee.

OH!

DR Ginny - Only because I don't recall ever seeing an answer to your query over the past few weeks...

I believe this is the simplest way to put it:

Hainsie = Someone who came to this site because of and/or who adores Guy Haines.

Kimlet = Someone who came to this site because of and/or who adores Bruce Kimmel.  -Although, "adores" may be the wrong word.  ;)

I guess it all depends what terms you put into your search engine.

Good morning!

Hot weather has returned with a vengeance, and I suspect this will be the last day I'll be able to endure without turning the central A/C back on.

Oh, well. It was VERY nice while it lasted.

Very sorry to read about Thommie Walsh, but thank you for the information and the heartfelt tribute, DR Jose.

I met him in NYC when some of the original ACL members had a book signing for ON THE LINE, and I got his autograph. Didn't have time to stand and talk as I would have liked, but he was certainly charming and seemed pleased (as did the others) that so many people wanted autographed coipies of the book.

DR Jose - thanks for the touching story about Mr. Walsh.  In his memory, today I will listen to the original cast recording and tomorrow will check this book out of my library:

The season four premiere of ENTOURAGE is tonight on HBO, so I'll be looking forward to that. Nothing else on TV of interest to me since THE SOPRANOS and THE TUDORS have ended their seasons.

I received this from Baayork Lee last night, and I don't think she would mind me sharing it with all of you here on this wonderful site.  It made me cry a little as well as smile.

Quote

Dear Friends,
Our Thommie took his journey into the light today, Saturday at 2:35 PM. I was there to represent all of you that loved him. He smiled when I arrived and proceed to try to talk to me. I knew he was waiting for me, as my train was late. I reminded him of our pact that I would be there to help him go into the light and he smiled again.  We breathed together, and I talked to him for about 10 mins till he took his last breath. I continued to talk to him for 45 mins, so his transitions would be smooth.
Barbara and Ellie are coping with their loss and Barbara is busy making plans for the celebration of Thommie's life.
I will continue to write you to let you know what Barbara has planned.
in loving spirit,
baayork

Hmm... Now I'm wondering if my father - and my mother - finally got the phone (and internet) set up at their new house.  And since my parents have a bad habit of leaving their cell phone ringers on, I'll give them a call a bit later since they're probably in church right now.

And now for something completely different...  And I really mean that...

The Conan O'Brien Show: Triumph at the Tonys

*If you don't know who Triumph is, it's probably best to keep your cursor on the pause button.  This is from NBC, so there's no cursing, but since it is Triumph, well...  I just found it soooooooo wrong.  And soooo funny!

Hysterically bad taste, as usual. I had tears running down my face as I was watching.
