SHOOTING BLANKS
« on: June 20, 2007, 12:02:40 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no blank pages, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've been shooting blanks and having quite a good time doing so.

I had chips for dinner.  That's because I was still full from my late lunch of chicken salad sandwich and chili cheese fries.

I wonder which song DRs have the most recorded version of in their collections.

I remember Michael Shayne compiling versions of "Send In The Clowns".

I've done Cds of Ebb Tide and Volare (for MBarnum) and more recently, "Begin the Beguine".

My next collection may be "The Shadow of Your Smile"

I remember DR Pogue having a collection of Teddy Bears' Picnics (compiled by a friend)

But what of DR's own collections!

One of my very favourite songs of the twentieth century is "Misty" but there are surprisingly less versions than I would have thought. Perhaps you need a remarkable talent to sing it or compete with the Mathis, Vaughan and Garner versions. (The Ray Stevens one is cute though!)

I have a whole CD put out by Verve of nothing but versions of Round Midnight.

I have 15 different recordings of Meadowlark...including four, count 'em FOUR different versions by Betty Buckley herself. ::)

You should have two or three produced by me - or did I only do two?  I know I did Liz Callaway and Susan Egan.  Is that it?
