Title: FACE TIME
Post by: bk on June 02, 2012, 12:50:12 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Face Time, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently using Face Time to talk to the neighboring sheep.

Good morning, all! I slept in, and now I have a full day of activity around the apartment: tidying, vacuuming, dusting. and a lot more things I really hate to do (but no lugging furniture, I hope!), plus more work on the EILEEN notes. Beyond that I have nada, zilch, to report.

DR JRand61, I look forward to more info on the "theatre events."

DR Ben, I hope the events in MN are going well!

Kudos to the Lassners, but, Nursie, the first reference to Bryan as "my son, the doctor" will get you a kick in the pants or a pie in the face.  What re his plans now?

DR vixmom, good news on your mother!

Good morning, all.

A perfect morning for sleeping in... so what do I do but get up early to organize and put out the trash for pickup, which is normally on Friday but in a holiday week it's Saturday.  In a slightly more perfect world I'd be able to put it out the night before, but when it sits out overnight out here in the "exurbs", it's subject to being overturned and scattered by deer, raccoons, or when things really get bad, giant mutant teenagers.

So, I did it last night.  I really, really did it.  Having taken a one and a half hour intermission to clear my brain after VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS, I settled into A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and watched my first ever spaghetti, straight through, transfixed.  This is a not bad achievement -- if I say so myself (and I believe I just did) -- for someone who rather ignored westerns all his life, up till just a couple of years ago.  Loved it, and at 3:00 in the morning I was still taking in a few of the extras on the Blu-ray.  Tonight the second film, no two ways about it, except that I shall start at a more decent hour.

Many, many, many (that's 3 manys) years ago when we still had drive-in theaters; one of the local theaters offered up a spaghetti marathon of  A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, and THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY; all in one night. (I think they even threw in a bonus film of HANG 'EM HIGH.)  I remember that by the middle of THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY' my friends and I were having trouble staying awake and keeping warm.

Have to say how strange it is that you can "talk" with people you never expected to on Facebook.  I swapped a few comments with Jason Carter who played "Marcus Cole" on Babylon 5 this morning.  Never thought that would happen.

When i took the garbage down, I noticed water on the basement floor, which means - if the leak is coming from my bathrom - it isn't coming from the pipes under the tub. I deliberately haven't used it since Thursday, but I will very shortly need to. I'm pretty much finished with the tidying and vacuuming for today.

I loved the Kiev pictures from DR DOUG R!!!  Interesting and lovely.

Glad you liked them Jrand61. One thing I found interesting was the sheer depth of the Kiev Metro (subway). I've been on many metro systems (yes, I'm a bit of a saddo who enjoys discovering such things!) but never been on one so far underground. It took about 5 minutes just travelling down on one of the escalaters. It's one of the deepest metro systems in the world.

True. Perhaps I should also consult elmore3003 who seems to have the same sort of bathroom leak. It must be due to something in the water.

Well, I was wrong about the tub. I just took a bath and flooded the basement! I guess on Monday we'll have plumbers crawling around, tearing holes in ceilings and making a mess in general. Since it appears to be under my floor, I guess it's the poor lady below me who will bear most of the mess.

Good grief!  Now Anderson Cooper is sending me e-mails about Danise.

Plus, it's a home improvement story gone disastrously wrong. Anderson meets a woman on the brink of bankruptcy after having spent approximately $50,000 to fix up her house. She was told by the contractor it would be two weeks. Almost a year later, and after taking out two loans, she is forced to finish the home herself.

We had lots of fun at my nephew's graduation last night.

Today we trawled at Cheapos, a local used CD and record store. It's not as good as it was in the old days but we still had fun. Anthony is looking for a copy of the Partridge Family Bulletin Board to complete his collection Partridge Family LPs. He had it eons ago when he was a youth but over the years it went missing.

We returned to the Best Western Plus (it's a nice place). Anthony went to the Exercise Room, I napped and then we went to the pool and the sauna.

Anthony is now napping and will rise soon for his afternoon ablutions. We will then head over to my brother's house for the official Graduation and 18th Birthday party for Joe (my nephew).

We have no plans for tomorrow, other than me printing out our boarding passes for the Monday flight home.

Bye for now.

I've spent the last month or so looking into back braces. I've worn one before. Although they are cumbersome (well, that one was), it did help. There are some new technologies available. I'm now trying out the Serola sacroiliac belt. My osteopath said it's what they recommend to their patients, but it doesn't help everyone. I must say it's very, very comfortable. It's worn around your hips, comes in several sizes, and is VERY adjustable. It remains to be seen how much it helps me. My back problems are not typical and are more difficult to address.

Dr Serola has a website that explains the belt.

There's another new technology, as well, the Incredibrace. It's worn like a traditional back brace, but with a new type of fabric. They make several sorts of braces, including those for the knee and wrist. If the Serola doesn't help, I'll try an Inredibrace.

the fact he's directing it means it will be a terrifying production. I thought he was a nice gentleman, but his production of WHERE'S CHARLEY? at Encores! convinced me, after detesting his SWEENEY TODD, that he's not a very good director.

Evening, all.

Just got the second helping of Leone/Eastwood/Morricone spaghetti under my belt.  Having a great time with these, and the Lee Van Cleef character in this one is wonderful.  Will refresh the palate with something completely different tonight, then on to GOOD, BAD, etc. tomorrow.  I'll top this little binge off with ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, probably Monday evening, then enjoy coming back to all of them after a breathing spell.

Stumble-through was very good - but every ballad was too dirge-like so afterwards we fixed all those tempos - Newman writes very conversationally and you can't drag out that stuff or it's mind-numbing.  One singer is not to my liking - she just makes everything difficult - I'm trying to get her to at least hit the jokes in Short People - I've given her several ways of approaching it, but apparently each has confused her and she feels she's getting mixed signals, which I don't think she is.  I think she's one of these actors with too much acting class.  No other singer in these shows has EVER had a problem with my little notes and they understand that I know comedy.  She also made up most of the words to the song, and that doesn't help the jokes.  I told her to go home and makes a choice and then play whatever choice it is with energy.  I gave her a really cute way to come onstage and to look at the pianist during the vamp and give a sly smile.  She thinks that means I want her to "wink" at the song, but it doesn't mean that at all.

I used to have back problems. My back would go out every so often. And it hurt to lift almost anything. I could not carry my niece when she was a baby.  But i started using this thing called Back Magic. And my back has improved tremendously. It never goes out. IF it gets sore at all i just use the back magic.  And i can lift my niece who just turned 3 and carry her around.

Danise, how is the house coming along?

Nothing really physical yet.  Except for the roof vent, it's all been surveys and plans.  Now that they know they can't add the room like I had hoped, I thought they would go ahead and start on the kitchen or install a front screen door but I haven't heard anything about a start date.  Sigh.  I was afraid that if nothing was done in the first month the project would lose steam.  I'm hoping that with the repeat of the show it might spur some kind of action as I'm sure viewers will be looking for an update.

I know they said it would take time and I'm trying to be patient

Sorry for the rant.  I know I should be grateful.

Anyway, it was nice to be seen again this past Friday and then to learn the show is repeating.  To bad I couldn't repeat the trip to NY as well!  :)

I must have missed something, Danise.  Why aren't you able to use your new washer/dryer in your new laundry room?
Mostly because it hasn't been built yet. :)

Well, today's two shows of "Goodnight Moon" went quite well...for the most part.  The irritating part was the second audience.  They just couldn't be quiet!  The were otherwise well behaved (and didn't rush onto the stage at the beginning of the intermission, like Friday night's audience did :P), but a lot of the kids just kept talking during the whole show.  At least they were ooing and ahhing about the show, so that's not too bad, but still....
