I just received the sweetest teddy bear (a doctor Bear, no less!) from DRvixmom. If I weren't feeling so anxious about tomorrow, I'd burst into tears over how wonderful you all are!
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT were both renewed.
.
I also thought James Kirkwood's "American Grotesque" was a great telling of moron Jim Garrison's attempts to turn gay Clay Shaw into a Kennedy assassin out of homophobia and, so gossip says, his own queer bent.
I am enjoying (among other books) Frank Rich's book Ghostlight.
DRvixmom, if the rumors about Jim Garrison molesting a boy at the country club swimming pool are correct, I'd guess good ol' Jim, played as a hero in Oliver Stone's shameful attempt to make him a good guy, had already turned gay.
I hope Jim Garrison is rotting in hell wherever he is, and I sort of hope Mr Stone ends up with him.

DR elmore - Did your What If? DVD arrive safely?
Thanks for the pics, DRVIXMOM, and the thoughts on Anthony's show.
Anthony’s show has Bicycle Built for Two! My mother sang that all the time when I was young. :)
DR MBarnum, last night you commented that you were the only one here who watches Survivor. You forgot about me! :) Let me guess, you loved the finale. Me I hated it! I thought Ian was stupid. I just didn't like Tom (although I suppose I should have since I'm always saying i like the best to win). Me I liked Steph. I just didn't like the finale at all. Not at all interesting. I was sort of starting to respect tom (for saying he'd keep his word and keep ian). But then he went and voted for him over jen (was really unimpressed with that). And it went downhill from there. :(
Does that mean there will be an hour of the week where no LAW AND ORDER programming is on at all??
Nope. Law And Order: Trial By Jury is being replaced by Law And Order: Electric Boogaloo.
Just wonderin'...
What the deal with all this German spam lately?!?!?!?
I think it's making it through the filters since the filters aren't catching the German words.
:-\
No, there won't be any video or audio record of the show. Equity rules are fairly stringent on points like this so shows such as these will have to live on in memory.
JMK, I would say your reviewer is right on the money. I'm not expecting particularly good reviews. It's very hard for anything that was intended for four hours and ends up three to have the resonance and depth it was suppose to have.
We got a notice in our work e-mail boxes this morning from our IT person about the German spam. Apparently there has been a huge outbreak of spam and, as Jose said, it doesn't get caught by the filters because it's in German!
Wow! What did you think Ian was "intending" when he spoke to Katie and Jenn about voting Tom out? Does that sound like someone who was going to "honor" an agreement?.
Ian made his own bed....he outsmarted himself. Tom reacted the right way. Katie should have voted for Ian as well.
Tom confronted Ian who confessed. Did that mean nothing to you?.
Tom played the game the best...and he played it with honor. Even Greg, Katie and Jenn were planning to vote out Tom when they were on the yacht..
Greg and Ian, both, were plotting to dishonor their agreement with Tom before Tom found them out.
Re: Jack the Ripper. What do you who are in the know think about that mystery writer (sorry, can't remember her name right now) who says she's definitively proven the Ripper was some English artist (can't remember his name, either--my I'm getting forgetful in my old age).
Re: Sickert & Cornwall. Yes, that's who I am thinking of. I seem to remember her being interviewed on 20/20 or something like that and she had gotten DNA evidence from the back of a stamp or maybe the envellope that one of the Ripper letters came in. I may be completely misremembering that, though--it was some time ago, and I can barely remember what happened a moment ago.
Re: Sickert & Cornwall. Yes, that's who....ooops, never mind. ;)
BK, i'm in the process of planning a baby shower. Were there any games at the party that were really good?
(anyone else can answer too).
There once was a person who sent ten different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh.
No pun in ten did!
I think Ian was considering voting out Tom. But I don't think he was necessarily going to do it. But IMO that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether Ian honored his end of the agreement. Tom should have honored his end (since he had no proof that Ian was definitely going to vote him out).
Just read some tidbits about canceled and returning TV shows.
Surprise cancellations: LAW & ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY,
We had to guess how many jelly beans were in a baby bottle. And they had ribbon and we all had to cut a size of ribbon which we thought would fit around mummy's tummy.
My I just noticed the number of posts I have made since joining these here envirions
as Ralph Kramdem would say
"I'm a blabbermouth!"
Good Afternoon!
Had my lunch. Washed the dishes. Vacuumed the rugs -
In other news...
But such a funny & delightful one. :D

Hi, DR George - I enjoyed your pictures yesterday, too.
Danise, no...pre-movie jitters. By the time something has come out I have at least seen it and sometimes I've seen it many times. I pretty much know by then what kind of film has been made out of the script and whether it is good or not and whether it will do well or not.
You sometimes just want to go hide, because you just can't go around flinging the script at people, saying: "It's not my fault! Read the script! You'll see!"
DR Jose, there's a hurricane with your name on it coming this summer. (hopefully, it will be a non-destructive one that stays at sea.)
The interesting thing about cutting a four hour time slot to three is that the movie itself ends up being less than two hours because there are twenty-four minutes of commecials (sometimes more) per hour. That is the most shocking thing about television today. Pretty soon a half-hour show will run eighteen minutes.
Danise, I don't know if you've seen this yet, but:Michael Ball to Make New York City Opera Debut in Patience (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/92978.html)!
According to the Playbill article, Michael "will star as Reginald Bunthorne in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience."
It goes on to say, "Patience will be performed at the New York State Theater Sept. 10 at 8 PM, Sept. 12 at 7:30 PM, Sept. 17 at 1:30 PM, Sept. 23 at 8 PM, Sept. 27 at 7:30 PM, Sept. 30 at 8 PM, Oct. 2 at 1:30 PM and Oct. 5 at 7:30 PM. Single tickets will go on sale Aug. 1, although tickets are currently available through subscriptions and group sales. Visit www.nycopera.com for more information..
So, are ya gonna go?? ;D

Not to dish DR George but when I went to that site, I didn't see anything about Michael Ball.
Ozderek, I also am a fan of LOVE IS WHERE IT FALLS, by Simon Callow. I've an autographed edition of it...though I didn't know it was autographed when I bought it.
NYC is nice in the fall. But since it isn't as green as other places, one wouldn't have as nice views of foliage turning color as elsewhere.
