Did I mention we didn't get any rain or snow?   The weather man said that we've had .90 inches since August 9th....we are way behind.  The rest of Iowa got rain or snow...what's up with that?

Had fun at band tonight.   I'm actually enjoying playing the 2nd flute music.  I always played 1st flute music which is often melody.  I'm really enjoying playing more harmony.  I used to be so competitive that I would never be happy playing second.  Now I'm loving it.  Who would have thought at age 50 I'd get out my flute and join a concert band, lol.  For awhile tonight, while counting rests I just sat and grinned.  A couple people noticed and smiled back.  It was a nice moment

Back from a long but really good and fun rehearsal.  I can see that I'm going to have to ride herd on the student actors - it's not their fault, really, they've never done anything like this before - but they are not retaining what they learn so at every rehearsal (well, we've only had three), it's like starting from scratch.  But today they finally all brought something to record with so hopefully that will help, although they each have a CD with all the songs on them.  Jose will have to have a couple of sessions with just them, just to deal with note values, cut-offs, and that kind of thing, because that's not something that it easy to understand when you haven't been trained.  But they're awfully cute and work hard, and that's all I care about.  I must have staged nine numbers tonight, including some real staging, not just walking - really fun stuff, I think, and as folks get off book I'll be able to add and finesse each number.  But I was very pleased this evening.

Good Evening!

Well... My "mountain" is getting smaller. Or at least easier to climb. ;)

Today, I ushered for two, count 'em TWO performances of the tour of Spamalot, here in Olympia.  The matinee had about 400 people and the evening show was practically sold out...the house holds 988 and the final count was 910.  Both shows were quite fun and all the performers were very good.  A great time was had by all. :D
