How wonderful to have DR elmore as our NYC social coordinator! I hope to put your new service to work some day! :D
TOD: Both "Ocean's 11," "Topkapi," and the first "Thomas Crown Affair."
I've always liked capers in my Beefsteak Tartar and sometimes in a salad. But I don't think anyone has ever made a movie about it.Like minds! Serves me right for posting without reading everyone else's posts!
See comment to DR Orr. If the three of us ever get in a room together, there will be great trouble ahead! :D
I also like lox and cream cheese on a bagel with capers.
I don't know why, but I have "Hey...did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world" running through my head right now and it's driving me mad.
Pineapple in cole slaw? Is that any good? Sounds interesting! :)
I am envious of the east coast get together! You all will have a blast. Having talked to Elmore3003 many times on the telephone I can tell you that he is a lot of fun...and he is crazy too! LOL!
Ok, we need to continue thinking of our Pacific Northwest get together! Jane I think you had mentioned that September might be a good time for you to come up to Portland. What do you think? TCB, Ann, George, Jed, JMK...who else is up here?
Alright, my former-library-employee nerdiness has to ask... What system are you currently running, and which is it you may change to?
Howsomever, what I recall vividly about that convention was that the "Theme Song" of the convention--perhaps influenced by "Hello Lyndon" in 1964--was "The Best of Times". And I wondered if Jerry Herman was having a fit hearing his song played over and over, interspersed with virulent gay-bashing rhetoric. Did the organizers of the Convention even know the origin of the song and the irony therein?
Ah...that was my master plan, MB. Perhaps someone else has a different song that they can suggest to run through our collective minds.
It's kind of like when Mary Tyler Moore presented the Tony for Best Musical--you knew when she walked out on that stage that MILLIE was going to win for Best Musical.
My grandmother makes this marshmallow/pineapple concoction that is really tasty. I don't know exactly what's in it, but she uses the mini marshmallows and pineapple chunks and I think Cool Whip or Marshmallow Fluff. It's fantabulous, though I usually end up picking out the pineapple after a while.
Yes all of us are part Lucy part Annette.
This sounds like Ambrosia salad, which, it seems, that everyone makes differently. My sister adds cubes of cream cheese and canned peach chunks to the mix. Unfortunately, it tends to come out a light orangey color and with all the various chunks in it it sort of looks like--er, well, I think you get the picture...

OK...new song...
There's a new girl in town and she's...lookin' good!
There's a fresh freckled face in the...neighborhood...
Alright, Panni's off the hook, for it is now clear that you, Mr. Jason Bratton, are our local devil spawn! :D
Also news of casting for Dracula, the Musical.

Yikes! From what I understand, Nicole Kidman is presenting Best Musical this year. What does that bode?
Dada, da da da dada,
Don't be a fool with your life...
This mini-frenzy brought to you by my taking a break in packing.
With the school year coming to an end (meaning my employment as a substitute teacher ends with it), and because I have yet to land a job on the west side of the state, I'll be moving back home for a little while. Thought I was out of there 4 years ago, but kinda makes sense to avoid paying rent while unemployed, ya know. :D Hopefully, I'll find gainful employment in the Seattle/Tacoma area soon, and won't have to be back down in Ellensburg for long.
One real advantage to living as bare bones as I do... packing an apartment takes no time at all!
Errant and truant the whole weekend? Just because you are moving? Skammen.
Jed, have you ever seen the ghost in McConnell Auditoium?
Well, since she's playing Samantha Stephens in the BEWITCHED movie, and Samantha was a witch, I think it's obvious that WICKED will win.
The only ghost spoken of on campus these days is in Kamola Hall.
Or perhaps it means, since she's Australian, that BOY FROM OZ is going to win.
Nahhh!
Or because she was once married to Tom Cruise that AVENUE Q is ..... oh, never mind. Mr. Cruise might hear of this and bring a suit against me. :D

I just hope that it is all for the best (a Candide and Godspell reference).
Of course the big question in every episode of Enterprise is, "What excuse will they find this week to show Connor in his blue underwear?"
Lamb Chop's Play Along!

Here, as promised several days ago, is another George Eads picture from the CSI daily calendar. Please bear with the image. I've just installed a new scanner, and this is my first attempt at using it. If the picture is too small or too large, I'll try again.

By the way, Star Trek: Enterprise will be moving to Fridays this fall. I think that's a great idea. Sci-Fi geeks will watch a lot of stuff, but it's foolish to have it scheduled opposite another SF show.
He name was Lola
She was a showgirl...
Oh, Tom have pity!!!
I want to put an interesting topic on the table, then must get back to work... Just read that Gwyneth Paltrow is going to play Marlene Dietrich in a biopic. In the article it said that Louis Malle was developing a Dietrich bio to star Uma Thurman. That project died with Malle, (John Guare was to have written it.) So - who do you think would make a better screen Dietrich -- Gwyneth or Una (or someone else of your choice)? And - do you think it's possible to portray someone as iconic? (AND how can you possibly take it seriously and not think of Madeline Kahn as you watch?)
My bathroom is possibly the tiniest bathroom in all of the northwest so it would be impossible to store any reading materials or munch on any foodstuffs in that room.
Uma...Yma, Yma....Uma.
Yes, it's our afternoon siesta, our lull time.
Pineapple in cole slaw? Is that any good? Sounds interesting! :)Follow your fave cole slaw recipe, or use Alton Brown's. (http://.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_21577,00.html) Salting the shredded cabbage is important, as it draws out the excess water, which keeps the dressing from becoming a watery mess. Alton suggested substituting the pickle "juice" with the liquid from the pineapple jar or can, then adding the pineapple chunks as freely as you like. A little lemon juice counters the sweetness of the pineapple, giving the dish balance.
Those photos of Juliana are beautiful. What a lovely dress.
Dan-in-Toronto, candy in the guest bathroom. At first I laughed at the idea, but on second thought it is very sweet-no pun intended. Has anyone ever mistaken the candy for fancy soap? :D

Hope all is well with you Danise. I am sure we all want to hear all your news when you have the time to write in full. I so envy you being able to see those shows. I so want to see "Wicked".
