I didn't start playing Candy Land until I was a teenager in high school! A neighborhood friend's much younger brother loved it but his brother (my age) wouldn't play with him, so I'd go down there every afternoon after school and play Candy Land for an hour.
Also loved two off-the-wall board games which were of their time but didn't make history (like Monopoly):
77 SUNSET STRIP
DISNEYLAND
I played Disneyland at a friend's birthday party when I was 7 or 8, and I was so enraptured by it that I begged my mother to PLEASE take me to a toy store after the party so we could buy it. Yes, I guess I was spoiled but she did it, and we played a bunch of games with the family that night. I was in sheer heaven.
