1965. So, I was at a New Year's Eve party in December of '65. Can't remember much about it, or whose party it was, other than it was somewhere in Beverly Hills. I left the party at, let's say, three or four in the morning. I had no way of getting back to the disgusting place I was living in (an interim experience, staying if a fellow student's tiny cottage with my friend Alan Abelew - we both slept in the living room - I would soon move into a nice apartment), nor did I want to go back there. So, I was going to see my mother at our house in Beverlywood, but not until around one on New Year's Day. So, I just walked around Beverly Hills all that early morning - street after street, gazing in store windows, just killing as much time as possible. I can't remember if I actually found an eatery that opened early, but I think I ate something somewhere around eight or nine. I then walked by the Beverly Theater, but their first show wasn't until noon. Then I walked over to the Stanley Warner Beverly Hills and they had a show starting at ten. That was great news. I hung out until the box-office opened at nine-thirty, bought my ticket and went in. I believe I was the only one in the theater, or maybe there were a couple of other people. The movie? The Slender Thread. It began at ten, and I enjoyed the first ten minutes of it, then promptly fell sound asleep and I woke up just before it ended. I left, went home, got into bed (my nice bed), slept another six hours, then had dinner with my mother.
