Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dazed and confused, and now it is time for you to post until the dazed and confused cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ATOMY!
-
I shall now abed, but you all keep merrily posting all through the night.
-
TCB and Tomovoz have posted but ATOMY is missing somewhere in New York New York!

Many years ago I remember watching Superman meets ATOMY man.
DR Vixmom would have preferred Superman Meets Spider Lady.

Poker Game
Six retired Floridians were playing poker in the condo clubhouse when Goldberg loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and drops dead at the table.
Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five continue playing standing up.
Moskowitz looks around and asks, 'So, who's gonna tell his wife?'
They cut the cards. Finklestein picks the two of clubs and has to carry the news.
They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.
'Discreet? I'm the most discreet person you'll ever meet. Discretion is my middle name. Leave it to me.'
So Finklestein goes to the Goldberg unit and knocks on the door Mrs, Goldberg yells from behind the door, 'What do you want?'
Finklestein declares: 'Your husband just lost $500 in a poker game and is afraid to come home. He needs more money.'
'Tell him to drop dead!' yells the wife.
'I'll go tell him,' says Finklestein.

Oscar Madison: I can't take it anymore, Felix, I'm cracking up. Everything you do irritates me. And when you're not here, the things I know you're gonna do when you come in irritate me. You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can't stand little notes on my pillow. "We're all out of cornflakes. F.U." Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Ungar!
Felix Ungar: In other words, you're throwin' me out.
Oscar Madison: Not in other words. Those are the perfect ones!
Oscar Madison: You can't spend the rest of your life crying. It annoys people in the movies.
Oscar Madison: Wait a minute, you're not going anywhere until you take it back!
Felix Ungar: Take what back?
Oscar Madison: "Let it be on your head." What the hell is that, the Curse of the Cat People?

Reprieve for the Pint and the Ounce
By DAN BILEFSKY
BRUSSELS, Sept. 11 — Britons and the Irish can still down a pint of beer, walk a mile, covet an ounce of gold and eat a pound of bananas after the European Union ruled today that the countries could retain measurements dating back to the Middle Ages.
Under a previous European Union plan, Britain and Ireland would have been forced to adopt the metric system and phase out imperial measurements by 2009. But after a vociferous antimetric campaign by British skeptics and London’s tabloid press, European Union officials decided that an ounce of common sense (or 28.3 grams) suggested that granting a reprieve was better than braving a public backlash.
They also feared that forcing Britain to abolish the imperial system would have damaged European Union trade with the United States, one of three countries, including Liberia and Myanmar, that have not officially adopted the metric system.
Remember those giggle times years ago when they tried to get the US to go metric and all the gas stations started pricing gas by the liter?

I cannot read today's discussion title without hearing Darlene Edwards, in my mind's eye[?], singing "Autumn in New York." An experience which, once heard, is ne'er forgotten. :)

Autumn in New York made me think of the wonderful Dawn Upshaw/Vernon Duke album; My Q for mr Kimmel, allowing for discretion where necessary, is what did you think in yesterdays list of Kennedy Center Honorees?

Good morning all!
Off to key more foundations.
-
Good morning, all! I have nothing new to report: it's another day of guidelines till noon, then Brain surgery for the rest of the day. I want to turn in the new synth parts to the MD tomorrow morning - I've got two and a half numbers to finish today.
And that's my news.

Good morning from OZ.

Ny-Quil did come to the rescue. My head hit the pillow just after midnight and that was that. I don't think I woke up once during the evening, a first for this trip. I inner clock got me up just before eight. I think one more night like that will do wonders. And while I'm groggy, I can tell I feel better, if only for having gotten a good night's sleep. I think I'll still be coughing today and my voice is shot, but I think by Friday I'll be okay.

Normally, when doing my weekly complete hard drive backup to mini-hard drive, it takes about a minute. Today it's taking fifteen minutes because of the new operating system.

I have to go do a little thissa and a little thatta this morning.

Great pics from DR ADRIANNA PATTI....I see Hollywood's own Roosevelt Hotel, where all the parties for "This Is Your Life" were held....and that view is very similar to that seen out the window of the Ricardo suite at the Beverly Palms hotel!

Wednesday morning greetings! Everyone was surprised to see me show up at work this morning. I have a nonprofit event here this noon and had made all kinds of contingency plans before leaving yesterday. My managers and lots of other staff members have pitched in and were prepared to host the event in my absence. I am most appreciative.
No word from the hospital before I left this morning, so I'm hoping that means things are progressing smoothly for Harriet. No news is good news, in matters like this.
-
Thanks to DRs Cillaliz and Singdaw for the vibes left here last night/early this morning.

What other DRs are members of Actors Equity? I know Ben is. I assume bk is. Jason soon will be. JRand57 is well on his way. Who am I missing?
-
Q for new AEA member DR Jason, who said:
I screwed up the lyrics and ultimately broke one of the cardinal rules of auditioning - I got flustered and stopped the song and re-started.
Who's responsible for convincing you that stopping and re-starting breaks a cardinal rule? Or an oriole rule, for that matter?
Congratulations, btw

Today, we interrupt the wonderful creative momentum of our rehearsals to appear in a NYMF press event. I hope Fourth Estate DRs are planning to stop by in about an hour.

As far as I'm concerned, Ny-Quil is a miracle drug. It has come to my rescue SO many times. It always knocks me out and provides cold/flu symptom relief. I used to swear by Comtrex, but it in the last decade, Ny-Quil is my drug of choice when I start to feel like a cold or the flu is coming on.

Nestled near New Orleans, among marshy bogs crawling with gators and accessible only by boat, lies Honey Island Swamp, home of the River Pople. With a heap of photos and plenty of storytelling, Swamp Cooking with the River People is enthralling as cultural anthropology - but as a cuisine it's something else. Witness an alligator rodeo, stop in at the Elks Lodge, go wild hog hunting. Features over 100 recipes including Mudbug Jambalaya, Charlies Tree Rat Stew, Smothered Frogs Legs, Coonass Coleslaw and Wanda's Whisky Cake.

The poor thing was straining and strainging trying to poop...she was clearly in pain so I took her right to the vet. Turns out her old problem is back. It looks like she's imacted again. Like she was 2 1/2 years ago. So she's in the hospital so they can see if they can soften things up. Due to her malformed bone structure it took them 9 days in the hospital last time. I'm really hoping it isn't that bad now. They were planning to sedate her and will call me later today. Poor thing. We've done the meds twice a day every day for 2 1/2 years and it worked up until now. I'm really worried what we will have to do next. She's only 5 years old.

Her sublet will be a veritable House of Cards, I mean, House of Flowers

A woman I do not know has just contacted me about performing a Jeanette Macdonald/Nelson Eddy medley at an upcoming benefit.
Should I do it? Will her dress be flashier than mine own?
-
after 3 people at work told me I look terrible today, I decided to come home and recover. Nadia made it almost until noon and asked if she could go.
-
Well, with a screen name like Flashdance, what did you expect?
-
I'm going to try to get some sleep. With the phone next to the bed, of course, in case I hear from the vet.

Feel better, Bruce. And break a leg or whatever will do the trick. If you walk around on NyQuil; you'll probably succeed. Trust me.
While I have been shaving or waiting to go to sleep, I have actually watched a few minutes here and there of TV in my hotel. I have seen 5 minutes each of three different episodes of "Wild Wild West," and I know this wilol be hard for some of you to believe, but each time Robert Conrad has been in his Spandex pants and tied up by someone. Amazing. No wonder my youth was affected!
AND i saw 5 minutes of "I Love Lucy," and again, believe it or not, it was an episode where she was trying to keep a secret from Ricky!
TV these days has nothing on this!
Hugs and good vibes to all!.
I'm off the the beach to watch the waves and all the beach has to offer. ;) I remembered yesterday that I have no hair on the top of my head and to buy a hat. After walking on the beach now since the other day, it's about 2 days late, but what the heck?! You'd think after about 5 years, I'd remember, but the that's noit the image of myself(from around 25 years ago) that i have in my head. Ah well!
Maybe Bob Conrad will be tied up later!

Kerry, I was just wondering this morning if you were still in LA - guess you are, if you're going to the beach.

Aww, poor Callie. I hope Callie and Cillaliz and Nadia all feel better soon!

This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:

Damselfly eating breakfast

I met Maizie and her owner at the river. Maizie had a swell time leaping through the water.

Today was the first of my brownbag lunch events for nonprofits after our summer break. When I left here yesterday, of course, there was every possibility that I would not be coming to work today. One of my coworkers, our managers, their boss, and someone in our PR office all pitched in and it was quite evident that the event would have gone just fine without me. Glad, for a whole bunch of reasons, I was able to be here, but it's nice to know that my colleagues are so caring.
-
That siper had a web that covered the trail -- almost three feet wide.
-
DR DearReaderLaura - exquisite photos, as usual. My favorite is the damselfly.
-
Last night, I watched a movie on a dvd entitled THE COVENANT; there were spiders as well as men in Speedos.

Thanks, Ginny. Damselflies are very small -- the size of a fat needle. I am lucky whenever a shot turns out!

Of course, the spider that DR Tomovoz outed last night probably had a drawer full of speedos.

Not to be too graphic, but Callie has the same problem she had 2 1/2 years ago. To put it bluntly she has impacted poop that is hard as a rock and due to the small size of her pelvic opening she can't poop and they can't get it out digitally. So the poor thing has to have warm water enemas in the hope that they can soften it up and she can pass it.
She had the first this afternoon and there was some progress but they have to do it again in the morning, so she'll be in the hospital for a while. I just hope it's not the 9 days it took last time.
-
I stopped in the office for a couple minutes to check on some things, but I'm about to go back home. I've already sent my regrets for the party tonight.
-
Poor Callie.

Wonderful pics as always, DR Laura. So lifelike.
-
I began my afternoon watching GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE recorded from the Fox Movie Channel. Irritatingly, it was pan and scanned, and since it's a Cinemascope movie, well, you can imagine how dissatisfied I was. Still, I hadn't seen it in awhile, and since it always makes me cry (a lot; very sentimental and beautiful take on the influence a teacher has on a community), I watched it anyway.
-
Next, I watched two episodes of GAY, STRAIGHT, OR TAKEN? It's a barely OK game show and the guys are pretty even if the game is a little sleazy.
-
Next, I rewatched Monday night's season finale of THE CLOSER. Such a satisfying end to the season.
And I was delighted to read in TV GUIDE that again this December, we're going to get a two part CLOSER special edition, so that will make the wait until next season not quite so long lasting.
-
I always love DearReaderLaura DR's photos!
-
You can never have enough men in speedos, I always say!
-
I continued my afternoon with a quick scan of today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay storyline as I expected, and no sign of it in the previews for tomorrow either.
-
I concluded my afternoon watching the last half hour of a LAW & ORDER repeat on TNT-HD. This was from the Benjamin Bratt years before the show went to high def, but TNT has up converted the old episodes, and you'd swear they were filmed in high def. Beautiful, rich, and three dimensional picture, and it was an interesting case that involved an incompetent psychiatrist.
-

~~~Vibes for Cillaliz's DC Callie!!~~~
-
So, DR JoseSPiano, is your work on Poppins going to preclude you from being "on call" for Chorus Line?
-
Thanks for the vibes for Callie. I'm really much more worried about her than I am Nadia and I. As far and we humans go, I tend to believe if you stay home and rest for one day instead of pushing it you get better quicker and are more productive when you are in the office...just my theory...so what am I doing in the office proofing a letter in Spanish? Pretty cool to know I can still do that.
-
I'm off to mail the letter (to a client who hasn't paid as promised and then complained about the bill) then I may swing by the vet to see if they'll let me visit Callie since she won't be coming home tonight.
-
You can never have enough men in speedos, I always say!
I find this sadly untrue. Most men who wear Speedos should NOT wear anything revealing of anything.
It's only in movies, on TV and in ads that Speedo bodies are seen in Speedos....seldom in "real life."
-
I wonder how one gives a cat a warm water enema!
Very carefully.
-
Very Carefully....do you really want to know?
Let's call it a "rhetorical" question. I don't think I'd want to read the literal truth....unless a mild relaxant was involved. I guess they don't sedate them under those circumstances.
-
We already knew THE CLOSER was a big hit, but here's conclusive proof taken from an article at Zap2It today:
"The third season of "The Closer" finished in much the same way it started -- with another record night in the ratings.
Monday's (Sept. 10) season finale on TNT brought in 9.2 million viewers, making it the No. 1 series telecast in the history of ad-supported cable. The show also held the previous record, 8.8 million viewers, set with its season premiere in June."
I watched NBC's "The Biggest Loser" last night.
It was a quick two hours (premiere show) and has some interesting competitors. There seem to be more "larger" individuals than in seasons past, although not "that much" larger. Two of the guys topped 400 pounds in the initial weigh-in, but results after one week saw both drop below that. Several women were at or over 300 pounds.
It should be an interesting season, especially since there will be THREE (count 'em THREE) teams. The Red and Blue teams know nothing about the Black team (headed by original female trainer Jillian). The Black team will join the other two in next week's show. It should create quite a stir.
The Blue team won the weigh-in and the Red team had to evict someone. They picked EXACTLY the right person to go.
Bless her heart, she was the heaviest female in the competition. She lost 7 pounds, but should have lost more. It was clear she was weighing her team down (so to speak) because she just wasn't likely to drop the weight she needed to in order to offset her starting weight's contributions to their overall body fat (which is how the winner each week is determined -- combined loss of weight converted to body fat percentage). Add to that her attitude during the first week, including her overstated desire to quite and go home after the first workout, they were all tired of her ass.
Her team now has a chance to be more competitive, IMO.
Even the cars in Oz have speedos.
Speedo the ozzie cossie.
I believe the brand "Speedo" is now back in Australian ownership.
Our football players here often go swimming the day after their game. Many of them wear speedos.
I apologise for posting the spider pic sans speedo! (just bad timing).
DR Matt will be in the Guiness Book of Records as the slowest reader of "Deathly Hallows".
"Mornig" - one of the characters in "Camelot" or was she an aunt of Potter?
That's all well and good in Australia. But in the U.S., the bulk of men who wear Speedos should be wearing overhauls.
Back from rehearsal and a brief stop at the post office. We did a complete run, which actually went surprisingly well. I gave very specific notes today, and then we ran those scenes. There's one scene in particular that was a problem in LA and has been a problem here. It's very difficult to get the tone of it right for one character, and we really worked hard on it this afternoon and I think we finally made some good headway that will really help. It's funny, Rob inverted a line of dialogue today, and for the first time it made sense to me, so I rewrote it and then just added one short line to the end of his little speech. Actors, I do love them.
-
It does help watching a run-through when you've had a good night's sleep and are feeling much better. I'm not tip-top but I'm MUCH better, thank goodness. I think I'll lay off any more EmergenC for tonight (had a big cup this morning), and have some at rehearsal in the morning. Tonight I'll take an Allevert and then Ny-Quil, just like last night, and hope I can get another good night's sleep.
-
I wasn't disagreeing DR Ron - your comment is more than appropriate to the situation here!
"Bulk of Men" - I like that.
"budgie smugglers" (a Dame Edna reference to speedos)
Most people who wear spandex items oughtn't.
Here, the guys who "could" pull off (no pun intended) wearing Speedos generally wouldn't be caught dead in what they call a "banana hammock."
Baggie oversized swimwear is what you see on the fittest/trimmest, including our football players.
Were they at least wearing "fanny packs" over their crotches?
That's another U.S.-male-contrivance: Fanny packs were designed to be worn "behind" you, but men began wearing them directly over their crotches.
I cannot tell you how silly I think that looks, but when the fanny pack actually covers up something NO ONE should ever have to SEE, it serves a fair purpose.
Fanny Pack:
Agreed Ron. Silly indeed. I used to think Jodhpurs were the least attactive clothing item on anyone. Bicycle shorts are far worse.
-
Fanny packs are "bum bags" in this country.
-
Agreed Ron. Silly indeed. I used to think Jodhpurs were the least attactive clothing item on anyone. Bicycle shorts are far worse.
I cannot quite figure out why, but we Americans teach boys not to show emotions, not to express affection openly and to be ashamed of their bodies.
Even in a culture that worships the body in magazines and gymnasiums, American men have a great bugaboo attitude toward wearing anything that accentuates their physiology.
Coupled with the overly trashy female fashion trends (does every young woman need to dress like a whore?), it seems very surreal to me.
Plus we get a plethora of buttcracks from men and women who wear clothes much too small for their generous frames, not to mention far too many "workout" garments of questionable stability (i.e. worn out, flimsy) being worn as everyday attire...street wear...and in some very sad cases, "office" attire.
Agreed Ron. Silly indeed. I used to think Jodhpurs were the least attactive clothing item on anyone. Bicycle shorts are far worse.
And I just know "someone" doesn't want me to get started on "bicycle" shorts.
Lord have mercy. First of all, what on earth do "John and Jane Doe" need with state-of-the-art racing togs when they go out biking on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon?
Go into a coffee shop and BE AMAZED at otherwise rational people prancing around in full bicycle racer drag...it's astonishing to me. These items are pricey, yes, and so "courant"....but honestly! Unless you're going to actually RACE on a bicycle, regular shorts and a t-shirt should do you more good...won't chafe the skin and will absorb moisture better and give you a better idea of how much sweating you've done.
Needless to say, I don't see anyone in bike shorts AND fanny packs. And because of that, some of these guys totally need to consider athletic support.
-
Good Evening!
Greetings from Bryant Park! :)
-It's a beautiful late summer/early fall evening here in NYC, and since I had a bit of time before tonight's show, I figured I might as well head over here until I have to head back to the theatre.
*And the 'wichcraft booth had Cinnamon Ice Cream tonight. :)
-
Ron-LOL. Those shorts are truly ugly.
Years ago we belonged to a nice gym/tennis club. Most of the women wore those spandex workout clothes & I was always getting asked for proof I was a member, after all I only wore shorts & a t-shirt. One day I tried on a couple of "work out" clothes. They were horrible, I couldn't keep them on for more than a few seconds, just about the most uncomfortable thing I have ever worn & there was no way I would work out in them.
-
Let's call it a "rhetorical" question. I don't think I'd want to read the literal truth....unless a mild relaxant was involved. I guess they don't sedate them under those circumstances.
They sedate them
-
How is little Callie tonight?
-
DR singdaw - For now, my Poppins duties are restricted to day rehearsals, so if I get asked to come in for A Chorus Line, I can still cover the evening shows over at the Schoenfeld.
And once I get the Key 2 book learned at Poppins, then it's just a matter of scheduling. And keeping track of my schedule. It's actually quite common for some subs to cover anywhere from two-five - or even six different shows. I have a friend who at one point and time was covering five different shows all at once, and there were a few weeks last summer where he was playing a different show each night of the week (Rent on Tuesday, Hairspray on Wednesday, Mamma Mia! on Thursday, Wicked on Friday, etc., etc.). It can happen. Some people thrive off of that. I can't. I don't. And I won't.
-
Went out and bought some more Ricola's and EmergenC, plus a new supply of Alavert. I'm stocked up now, but I hope I won't need this junk much longer. Got my usual tw pizza slices for dinner - I ate exactly the same as yesterday just for superstition sake - I figure if everything is exactly the same maybe I'll get another good night's sleep - and we start a half-hour later tomorrow.
-
bk - I'd be really(!) careful about taking Alavert and Nyquil at the same time. Your excess grogginess this morning could very well have been caused by over-medication.
-
DR Jane - Nailing Poppins. That sounds like something in DR elmore's VCR. ;)
-
Callie doesn't get to come home tonight, she's in the Animal Hospital over night and will receive another warm water enema in the morning. I went to visit a couple hours ago. They encourage pet owners to visit their pets who have to stay overnight. She seemed better than she was at home, but kept trying to poop to no avail. I told her to get even with the people who were doing strange things to her by pooping all over the place.
Anyway, we won't know for a while. I'm hoping she can come home tomorrow. They were able to break things up a little by manipulating from the outside. That had to hurt after the sedative wore off. She was pretty good with me, but when the assistant came in to take her back to her cage she gave me a very evil eye then started howling and hissing.
-
Oh... And to "garnish" the cinnamon ice cream I had earlier: brownie chunks. :)
-
In other news..
I'm feeling better about Poppins. I was a bit more hands-on during the teaching portion today, and that helped a lot. I, still, for some unknown reason, just want the fast songs to go faster - and even the slow songs to go faster. But I do sense that whatever "block" I put up for myself with this show is finally eroding.
The second part of rehearsal was devoted to choreography, mainly "Supercal...". Consequently, I had a very easy afternoon. There's a whole lot of spelling going on!
And tonight, I will be auditing the show from the Conductor's Suite. I may just end up staying for Act 1 - I just don't want to Poppins myself out. -Or would that be Mary-ing myself out? ;)
-
Hmm... And I think I will be making a stop at Starbucks on the way to the theatre.. -I've already nodded off a few times here in Bryant Park. -It's really is quite a nice, cool evening here in NYC.
I may just end up staying for Act 1 - I just don't want to Poppins myself out. -Or would that be Mary-ing myself out? ;)
If you are a pianist and in the pit you are behind the pianist, does that make you pianist number two? And is there a pianist behind you? And does that make you nervous?
The proper typo was "'wichcract", not "witchcract".
A question for the computer-knowing:
If one doesn't have an icon on the desktop for the recycle bin to click on, how does one empty it?
The trains will meet in Lafayette, IN at 12:05pm. ;)
???
I'm not sure how to read your query... And whether or not I should be reading anything into your query. In any case...
For Mary Poppins, there are two pianos in the pit. The "Key 1" player plays the Grand Piano, and the "Key 2" player plays the Upright Piano. There is ample sitting room behind the Key 1 player. However, the "observation chair" for Key 2 is makeshift cushion that folds down from part of the set rigging.
Now, if I were at the Schoenfeld tonight... There are three keyboards, and three keyboard players. Key 1 covers the "original" piano book with some Rhodes and celeste here and there - much like how the original piano book was set up. Key 2 covers guitar and harp (and some celeste and strings). Key 3 covers strings and some synth effects. The observation chairs in that pit are next to the keyboards, players.
As for getting nervous when someone is behind me, someone is observing... No. I actually like when I have someone auditing - it actually sort of takes some of the pressure away strangely enough. I go into "teacher mode". Plus, I have someone to talk to during the breaks. -And over at A Chorus Line, since we're in a room under the stage, we can talk in non-hushed tones, as well as watch the show on a nice flat-screen TV monitor.
Is that what you wanted to know?
-
<SNARK>
Kiss my grits!
-
...And if were talking numbers... The last time I checked - and this was last summer: Over at Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden, I'm one of at least 10 designated subs on the Key 2 book, and one of at least 15(!) designated subs on the Key 4 book. (Since I had played the show on the road, I was sort of automatically put "on the list", but I have no illusions that I'd be getting called to play any time soon.)
-
OK... Time to head back to the New Amsterdam...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
So... Who has the Honey Cake? And the Macaroons? :)
I have almond macaroons & challah. I'm missing the Potato Latkes & kugel.
I also miss going to evening services with my father.
Happy Rosh Hashanah to all those who celebrate.
-
Happy New Year!
Happy Rosh Hashanah to all those who celebrate.
And a very merry un-Rosh Hashanah to all those who don't.
And a very Merry UN-Birthday to everyone, too!
DR Jane, Callie takes lactalose twice a day
We had to gave that to Bogie so I know what you are going through right now. I hope the dose is low enough you can increase it, just enough to keep the problem from returning. Poor Callie. From what you said it sounds as if they will be able to get the rest by tomorrow. Vibes I'm correct.
How much lactalose his Callie getting per dose?
-
I like that DR Laura
-
Happy Rosh Hashanah to all those who celebrate.
And a very merry un-Rosh Hashanah to all those who don't.
:D Cute.
Thanks to all for the good wishes.
Does anyone attend services or have a big family dinner? If there is a dinner will you have another one on Yom Kippur?
We could increase it. It's been the same for 2 1/2 years. I'm hopeful, although with her pelvic deformity, they can't use the methods they would normally use, so we don't know how long it will take. I'm assuming they will be successful eventually, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.
-
Laura, if you have a mac, right click on the trash and you should get "empty trash" icon.
-
I watched SACCO AND VANZETTI this evening and enjoyed it very much. It was a subject I knew next to nothing about, and found it fascinating and important.
And that Sacco guy sure was good looking.
God, not only would this one be old, but dead, as well.
-
Thanks, DR Adirana Pattik, for the photos.
My, BJ is tall, even when sitting down!
Probably has big feet, too.
-
That's the trouble, BK. There is no icon on the desktop.
-
Apparently my DH deleted the icon at some point.
Its probably in the recycle bin or the trash can, which ever your computer has
DR Laura PC or Mac?
-
I don't know what DH was talking about. I looked at his desktop and I found the icon.
-
Yes, I don't think it's possible to delete "trash" icon.
-
I wouldn't think so either.
-
And I'm VERY disappointed I haven't gotten the Amazon shipping notice for BONES yet. Don't know what the hold-up on it is.
I think it might creep me out to get a shipping notice for bones.
;D TCB
Did you speak to the physical therapist today, or your surgeon?
DR Jason ~ Bing said to tell you "Ba-ba-ba-boo, that's my boy!" and then a button popped off his jacket -- and then Esther's bathing cap popped off her head as she did a jig before diving into the pool.
Needless to say, but I will any way, they were excited for you.
Cason, does she always drink this early in the morning?
I'll drink to that!
I just finished the synth fixes. Tomorrow morning I'll run down to Toyland and assemble the new "Brain Tap," get a bit of work done, see if I can learn what internet services our neighbors are using, and stop by rehearsal to give the MD the synth parts. I figure it will will take me to Sunday to finish the other three parts.
Jack, did you catch GOING STEADY on TCM? Molly Bee and Kenny Miller!
Wow! Next week, maybe they will show The Chartreuse Caboose!
There they go, exploiting Cady again. Hope she's getting residuals!
I woke up feeling very cruddy today but thought I'd tough it out and go to Sioux Falls to visit the client I need to see there. I went to the office and here came Nadia...also sick and not looking well at all. I made the executive decision that we would wait to go to Sioux Falls until Monday.
I came home to check on Callie who had been acting funny last night and this morning. The poor thing was straining and strainging trying to poop...she was clearly in pain so I took her right to the vet. Turns out her old problem is back. It looks like she's imacted again. Like she was 2 1/2 years ago. So she's in the hospital so they can see if they can soften things up. Due to her malformed bone structure it took them 9 days in the hospital last time. I'm really hoping it isn't that bad now. They were planning to sedate her and will call me later today. Poor thing. We've done the meds twice a day every day for 2 1/2 years and it worked up until now. I'm really worried what we will have to do next. She's only 5 years old.
Good health vibes to Callie from TCB, Angel, and Nicky!
A woman I do not know has just contacted me about performing a Jeanette Macdonald/Nelson Eddy medley at an upcoming benefit.
Should I do it? Will her dress be flashier than mine own?
Which part will you be singing?
Who's Cady?
I'm pretty sure that that's Cady Huffman, Ulla in The Producers and Ziegfeld's Favorite in The Will Rogers Follies.
Last night, I watched a movie on a dvd entitled THE COVENANT; there were spiders as well as men in Speedos.
How did you notice the spiders?
-
I wonder how one gives a cat a warm water enema!
No, the problem is convincing them that it is erotic.
-
How did you notice the spiders?
The spiders were in the scenes with the ladies. . . ;)
Try looking in the folders just below and to the right (or left) of where your recycle bin used to be. I wouldn't think you could move the recycle bin into a folder...but maybe you can...
George, thank you for the rescue story & photo. :D
Hi everyone. Happy Wednesday evening.
-
DR Jose, i want honey cake. I was actually thinking of making one. But alas i did not. We had a big New Year's dinner. I made meatballs, mashed potatoes, mashed turnip, and peanut butter chocolate squares. My mom made bean and barley soup, apple cake, and brisket. And everybody else just came and ate.
It was very yummy!
-
I almost want to write the notes and post them now and go to bed, but I know better - if I did that, I'd be up at five in the morning.
-
Jennifer the soup, mashed potatoes & apple cake sound yummy. I would like to have tried the mashed turnips.
;D TCB
Did you speak to the physical therapist today, or your surgeon?
No, I see the therapist tomorrow after work.
Things are going really well at the Starfighter rehearsals. We did two run throughs of Act 1 yesterday. The hardest part is trying to stage and block around one or another actor who is not there. Seems someone is always out - usually at an audition. I must say, that's one scary concept for a producer. I cringe inside each time someone has to leave early or come late to go to an audition. I know this is what they constantly do. But the thought that someone could pull out of the show at any time . . .
They are all so talented, and I hope they all get amazing jobs . . . right after Starfighter is over!
-
DR Laura, Vixmom, Cillaliz, George, & Singdaw, thank you for the DS Bryan vibes.
Due to the delays, beyond his control, getting his first applications sent, he is working very hard to send all the secondary applications out as quickly as possible. So far he hasn’t received secondaries from 5 of the schools he applied to. Hopefully they are slow & haven’t crossed him off their list.
-
HAPPY CELEBRATIONS TO EVERYONE...FOR ANYTHING!!
;D
-
Julie that must be nerve wracking, almost as much as this waiting game we are playing with the schools. ;)
-
And the audience member in me is getting very excited that NYMF is about to start. I LOVE going to NYMF shows. While I know I can't go to as many this year as I usually do, I've been busily mapping out a potential NYMF schedule, and hoping that I'll be able to make it to the majority of the shows I pick out.
-
Poor kitty Callie! I am so sorry she has to go through that.
I already bought my BRAIN ticket. Got for DR FJL, too.
And I'm all set for Noel's show, as well.
And I've been juggling around the rest of the possibilities.
Wow, I just hit 10000 posts....I wonder how many misspelled words that comes out to be?
I stayed out of the rehearsal studio today, because it was a shortened day due to the holiday, and I needed to concentrate on some other stuff. Like ticket sales. Press releases. Ticket sales. Sets and Props issues. Ticket sales. Publicity materials. Ticket sales.
Oh, and ticket sales.
Can you get Nintendo thumb from pressing the send button on email too many times?
I have just returned from my friend George's service. It was very nice and was held at a chapel in the old Hollywood district of Portland.
There was one of those after the funeral things at someone's home in Lake Oswego. George's friend Jim wanted me to attend and I made an effort...driving all the way over to Lake Oswego...but I got lost and was feeling sick to my stomach and stressed...saw a sign with an arrow that said I-205 and headed for the freeway and then home.
Jim lives in Keizer, which is near Salem. I gave him my phone number and so I think we will get together for lunch sometime and talk about George and stuff.
Right now I am exhausted and am ready to hit the bed...but it isn't even 7pm yet.
-
Poor kitty Callie! I am so sorry she has to go through that.
Thanks MBarnum, me too. I'm just really hoping that everything passes tomorrow. I'm more hopeful than I was the last episode. She has been very healthy up until the past few days. The fact she got very mad when the assistant picked her up was a good sign. Last time she just laid there limp and didn't fight at all. She's definitely feisty. That gives me a lot of hope.
-
Hi Jane!
Yes, - anytime something is out of one's ability to control it - it can get very frustrating.
I hope things work out well with the schools. Sometimes they are just slow - and it seems like they are intentionally trying to torture, but really, they are just slow at doing everything.
I hope he hear's some good news soon!
-
"budgie smugglers" (a Dame Edna reference to speedos)
And a brand odf underwear. the ads are great. And the models
-
I hope Callie feels better very soon.
-
And since I was sad, grumpy, and not feeling good I stopped at Best Buy and bought the Sci-fi set of 1950s Universal movies. Shopping always makes me feel better.
JRand, you are correct...the horror set doesn't come out until October, or so I was told at the store. I guess I thought they were being released on the same date.
Is bk off writing the notes already?
I talked about the Equity Showcase contract in yesterday's posts. It's very unappetizing for everyone except the actors. It's understandable, of course, for the pittance they receive, but very unnerving for the producers and creative team.
-
Dear DR friends - I am sad to report that my mother-in-law, Harriet Lacy Dole Palmer passed away about 3pm today. We are about 95% sure that her memorial service will be Monday afternoon.
We have been with Richard's brothers and niece doing some of those things that need to be done at this time.
-
Thanks DR Julie. This process could continue through January, or longer. :'( ;D
If Bryan gets just one interview & one acceptance, to anywhere, we will all relax some. He could have applied to more schools but it is too time consuming & expensive. He had to pick & choose the schools he calculates are most suited to him that offered the best chance of accepting out of state students with his GPA.
Oh Ginny, I'm so very sad for you and DH Richard. My condolences to your family.
DRs Cillaliz, Julie, Tomovoz, Kerry, George, MBarnum, TCB, and Jane - thank you so much for your thoughts.
-
Ginny, your family will be in my prayers. I am so sorry to hear the news.
-
DR Ginny, how are you and DH Richard? I'm glad you are still here with us.
You love Harriet very much & she was surely blessed to have you for a daughter. I know this will be hard for both of you. At least the results of the surgery confirmed there was no other choice but to do it. So very sad, at least you did everything possible.
-
MBarnum, I am sorry to hear about your tough day. I hope you and your friend get together and share happy memories about George soon.
-
And I missed DR Kerry again!
-
I hope DR Kerry is enjoying his stay in Hollywood.
-
I am often amazed at how much of a family we have all become thanks to Uncle Bruce. Last night, you could feel the joy and excitement when we all learned about Jason's new job. Tonight, the reverse is true, due to Michael saying a final good-bye to friend, George; and now to find out about the loss of Ginny's Mother-in-law. I feel very lucky to have found such a caring group of friends.
-
DR Ginny, how are you and DH Richard? I'm glad you are still here with us.
Jane, I think we all knew in our own ways that this was coming. It's hard to lose anyone anytime, but we're taking comfort in the fact that her mind was sharp her entire life and that she lived well into her 91st year.
You love Harriet very much & she was surely blessed to have you for a daughter. I know this will be hard for both of you. At least the results of the surgery confirmed there was no other choice but to do it. So very sad, at least you did everything possible.
We thoroughly expected to be dealing with this at this time yesterday, given the risk of the surgery. I even think Richard and I thought Monday morning was "it" when we were called over to be there for her heart fibrilation. She went into the surgery with her fighting face on and, without the operation, would have suffered longer and more painfully, with probably the same outcome.
-
Thank you, DR DearReaderLaura.
-
DR Ginny, that is a great comfort at a time like this.
May you have a united family in the days to come.
-
So true TCB.
'night
-
Sorry to hear it, dear reader Ginny. Sending you many vibes of support and sympathy.
-
And, I doubt that I know more than one or two people who are even half as excited about going to an upcoming family reunion; as this group is about joining togehter in New York for a HHW gathering at the end of this month.
-
Thank you, BK. I agree with DR TCB that this community you sustain for all of us is a special place to be in the peaks and valleys of our lives - even the humdrum days (maybe those most of all...)
-
We've seen each other through a lot of things on this board, haven't we?
-
DR Ginny, that is a great comfort at a time like this.
May you have a united family in the days to come.
There were a few mini-dramas this afternoon/evening, but Harriet had everything written down as to how she wanted these arrangements to occur. Her preferences are not to the tastes of everyone in the family, but they are very specific and hard to argue with.
Thank you, all, for letting me spend this time with you while DH Richard decompresses with a Steven Segall movie.
-
DR Ginny,
The tribe here sends our sincerest condolences; do check in often for sustaining hugs.
der Brucer
-
Thank you, DR derBrucer.
I find this sadly untrue. Most men who wear Speedos should NOT wear anything revealing of anything.
It's only in movies, on TV and in ads that Speedo bodies are seen in Speedos....seldom in "real life."
I'm afraid I must agree. I also see many women who would have looked better more fully clothed.
-
Well, I must be off.
Again, Ginny, I am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law...however, the fact that she lived well into her 91st year is definitely something to celebrate! Not everyone makes it that far. :)
-
Dear Ginny. My thoughts are with you tonight and my sincere condolences.
-
Thanks, again, George and thank you to Dr ArnoldMBrockman.
-
I say this with no bragging - this place is something else again.
DR Matt will be in the Guiness Book of Records as the slowest reader of "Deathly Hallows".
Deliberately so. Maybe you weren't here when I explained why I'm stretching it out. It's the last one we'll ever have so I'm enjoying the hell out of every page.
-
Ginny I am so very sorry for your family's loss.
I wish I could do this in person
((((((((((((((((((((GINNY & RICHARD)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
My prayers for you all during this very difficult time
My condolences to you, DR GINNY. You seem to be coping well.
Deliberately so. Maybe you weren't here when I explained why I'm stretching it out. It's the last one we'll ever have so I'm enjoying the hell out of every page.
I know what you mean Matt, When I got about three chapters from the end I started rereading the chapters before moving on....and when I was done I wnet back about 6 chapters and reread it all again.
-
DR Vixmom - thanks for the virtual hug. You can save the in-person one for Sept. 29, OK?
-
Bruce, you have an email.
I think it might creep me out to get a shipping notice for bones.
I guess my post wasn't clear enough. I was talking about the television program BONES on DVD.
My best to DC Callie, too. Cilla, I used to have a cat named Callie, but I spelled it Caley. I recall one time when she was hospitalized. I missed her so much I went to visit and asked for a loan cat.
Thanks, DR Jeanne.
There are many many times when I think of this group as my "real" family. TCB, I couldn't agree with you more.
I know what you mean Matt, When I got about three chapters from the end I started rereading the chapters before moving on....and when I was done I wnet back about 6 chapters and reread it all again.
Oh, it's going by even too quickly for me now. I just crossed iover page 500, and I wish I were just starting. It's just flying by with all the chases and narrow escapes. Zowie!
Happy New Year to all who celebrate.
My coworker who just celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in June (since she never did and wanted to before her daughter makes hers in 2 years time) brought in apples and honey... I looked up the appropriate prayer on Google (www.jewFAQ.org) and she read it to us (in Hebrew) and we all dipped our apple slices in honey and wished her a happy New Year.
-
DR Vixmom - thanks for the virtual hug. You can save the in-person one for Sept. 29, OK?
you betcha!!
In honor of the record THE CLOSER set on Monday night, I decided to watch some season 2 episodes. I watched three of them: the one with the death of the restaurant owner, the one with Brenda being a character witness for Chief Pope, and . . . .
the one she submitted for Emmy consideration - "Slippin"' about he drive-by shooting of three college age kids.
-
Well, DRs, I'm going to bed. Even though I'll log off from my home computer, I have a feeling that I forgot to log off HHW on my work machine when I left abruptly this afternoon.
Goodnight and thanks for being here.
-
Next, I watched tonight's episode of BONES (the TV show, just in case DR TCB is confused). It was the season 2 finale episode setting us up for next week's season premiere.
-
And then I concluded my evening with the season finale of RESCUE ME. Oh my, Denis Leary is clearing the dockets. We already had one death in the regular cast earlier in the season, and tonight we had another.
-
TCB... very well said and very, very true.
I find myself often thinking of each of you during the day, wondering how you are doing, and sending "mental vibes" and of course prayers, that things are going well for each and everyone of you
even for DerB, no matter how mean he is to me.
-
My best to DC Callie, too. Cilla, I used to have a cat named Callie, but I spelled it Caley. I recall one time when she was hospitalized. I missed her so much I went to visit and asked for a loan cat.
LOL! That's pretty funny. I miss Cal, but I know that she was in a lot of pain and that what they are doing is the only way she will get better. I wanted to visit her and am glad I did, I just hope she doesn't start associating me with what she's going through.
I don't need a loaner, I have Boo Boo Ann who is starting to sleep with me because it's getting cold at night. I was looking for something feminine to add to her name and all of a sudden started singing Boo Boo Boo, Boo Boo Boo Ann. Boo Boo Boo, Boo Boo Boo Ann... oh Boo Boo Ann, take my hand.... so that's her name
Callie's song is Callie Sue to the tune of Peggy Sue. Somehow she's become Callie Sue Marie, not quite sure where the Marie comes from. The vet still calls her Miss Callie....that is so 2 years ago, lol
