Well, you've read the notes, the notes had you on both pins and needles, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're off playing the cast album of Pins and Needles.
-
And the word of the day is: NEOLOGIST!
-
I suppose I have to go to bed, but I swear I could have danced all night.
I got very excited to see that My Fair Lady opened at the ahmonson on April 9th, and really wanted to go see despite any and all costs. I absolutely love Matthew Bourne, and support his work when possible.
Sadly, someone called to my attention that My Fair Lady starts
April 9th at the Ahmonson NEXT YEAR!!!!
DO YOU REALIZE HOW LONG A YEAR IS TO WAIT FOR SOMETHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*sulks silently*

Welcome fifteen GUESTS. Who are you people? And perhaps one of you can answer the question: Will we never get to page two?
-
While you're sitting there on pins and needles, why don't you GUESTS go buy some CDs.
-
goodnight, Ill try to sleep now, dreaming about dancing all night
-
Such is the life of those that bought nearly every CD from varese etc years ago. We've had the pleasure of listening for a long time.

It's a musical!

I'll be on pins and needles later this morning...I have a dental appointment! :o
Fortunately, I've always gotten good check-ups, but I think I chipped a tooth, and I don't know when or how! The bottom right corner of my front right tooth is a little jagged and it never used to be jagged. We'll see how it goes.
-
Good night, four guests! 8)
-
Pins and needles are all well and good -- natural part of the game of life.
But wouldn't feathers and bubbles be interesting, too?
"I'm sitting on feathers and bubbles!"
How about that for a neology?
-
Just popping in to send lots of travel vibes to dear DR Elmore!
I'll be back officially after my early meeting at the YWCA.
-
Good Morning to me.
Anthony will be leaving for Long Island this morning and I shall be alone in the city until Friday when I head out to Centereach.
We are getting things together for our Florida trip. We will be in Florida in May for a week. A friend is turning 50 and she has rented the Sandhurst Estate on Captiva Island (isn't it nice to have rich friends). All we have to do is get there and we will be in the lap of luxury for a whole 7 days! I've taken the virtural tour of Sandhurst and it looks like a wonderful time will be had by all. We will be flying down on Continental to Fort Myers. We will be met by friends of Anthony's who live on Sanibel Island (Anthony worked at a theatre there in the 90s'). They will drive us to Captiva.
I have finished my morning oatmeal. I now need to do the deed.
-
I am still here by myself. According to the opening page when I came in there were 22 guests!!!

DR Tomovoz: Do not think that your crack last night went unnoticed. :)

Just realized, belatedly, that my last post was a classic HHW set-up. Oh, well...

I just hope that DR Cason is not too worn out by his activities to drive back to El Ayy.
-
Just realized, belatedly, that my last post was a classic HHW set-up. Oh, well...
If you think that I would say anything about your previous post, you would be an ass.
-
DR MBarnum: Thanks for the dog pics. Do you [or your friend] happen to know what breed of dog Digger is? He [she?] looks very much like my Zach. I had always thought Zach was a mixed-breed mutt. However, someone has told me that he is a German breed called Hovawart, about which I have found some information on the web. But I am still not certain. :)
-
Thanks, DR Michael S, for your posts last night. I think, though we didn't state it explicitly, that we were trying to think of recordings of a choral arrangement of The Hills of Tomorrow, as it would have been sung in the show originally.
But you did remind me that I haven't listened to that M. Heller recording in quite a while. :)
-
you would be an ass.
I do that quite well on my own, thank you! ;)
-
Good morning, all! I will be on pills and needles till I'm safely back in Manhattan. Keep those travel vibes coming today!
I have errands to run. More later before I leave.
-
DR elmore3003, someone suggested that I learn "the trio" from Cosi. [I'm a baritone]. Heathen that I am, I'm not overly familiar with the opera. Would they be referring to "Soave sia il vento"? Thanks!

WOD: Even as a young child, bk was a prime neologist.

It's the glorious trio for Don Alfonzo, Fiordiligi and Dorabella in Act One. I believe that's the title, one of the most glorious pieces ever. Wasn't it used in SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY?

DR Ben, does the website say if the 2nd pressings are also numbered?

Good choice, DR DtM!

Thank you all for the vibes this morning. Keep' em coming!
I'm off to the bank to deposit funds from the sale of dad's car and one of his boats yesterday, then the PO for a shipping carton.
I will be leaving Randy's around 1 PM this afternoon, EST, so I will be checking back in before I go.

DR Ben, the packaging should be nice. And I understand that there is some small amount of material that was NOT on the OBC, though nothing terribly significant.

DR TOMovOZ - it's an American-ized version of THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE.
But I find a LOT of improv painful to watch with much fumfing and struggling and desperation with maybe ONE to TWO lines that are worth the WHOLE set.
Last night there were TWO episodes. In the first episode, I thought Wayne Knight (Newman from SEINFELD) and Jennifer Coolidge were good. Bryan Cranston the father from MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE was okay, better in the group scene than his individual scene. Joel McHale was terrible and he had the most imaginative setting.
In the second episode Mo-Nique was awful and had to be guided around the set and never picked up ANY help that was thrown to her by the cast, Kevin Nealon completely misread the environment he was thrown into. Richard Kind was the worst - and like McHale, he had the BEST situation but completely failed to take advantage of it. Edie McClurg was the very best of the night of both shows!
So if you like improv, you might like the show. It contains the best and worst elements of that self-indulgent form of comedy.
-
I meant to watch THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE last night. I also meant to watch the documentary on Johnstown on PBS. Instead I started watching the Lassie movie on TCM, switched to TWO AND A HALF MEN and then viewed Sunday night's TAR (Go Blondies!)
I had a point I was going to make here, but I forget what it was suppose to be.

Good Morning!
Well... Since I somehow slept through my alarms...
But my train doesn't leave until 10:17... And only about 15 minutes from the train stop... But, still, I somehow slept through my alarm. ???
In any case, I'm up (now too).

Yes, D-t-M, the Web site says the second pressing is numbered as well. I don't know where the numbers will pick up, perhaps at 1001, since the first pressing, IIRC, was 1000.

Good Morning! once again...

I just checked my e-mail, and there were about 30 e-mails from eBay confirming a bunch of new items I just listed. However, I did not list anything recently - I haven't listed anything ever. And my name is not "Nancy Smith" either, so...
Of course, to access the Live Help sections on eBay you have to log in to your account. But it appears my account has been "compromised". So...
If any DRs happen to have the number to reach a Live person at e-Bay, could you PM me that info.
Thanks.

Grrrrr... This burns my bacon! They originally asserted that there were going to be only 1000 pressings, so I bought two with the purpose of selling one for and exorbitant amount on eBay. How dare they disrupt my money grubbing scheme!

DR Jose: I hope you did not click on any of the links in those emails! You have probably been spoofed or phished one of those e-terms.
I have received emails from e-bay also regarding things I have listed for sale. I have, however, NEVER listed anything for sale.
If you have a college-age computer geek friend, he can look at the email and see what happened.

This happened to me last year, DR Jose, and I'm sad to say it was a mess getting it all straightened out. Someone listed some Prada handbags under my name, and I was swamped with orders and then people demanding their money back when they didn't get replies to their orders. I had a hard time getting Ebay to understand that I never had listed anything for sale. Got a whole bunch of negative feedback, too.
All of it eventually got straightened out, but I had to change almost everything about my Ebay account for them to clear the books. Had to change my log-in password at AOL as well.
I did have to talk with someone at Ebay, but I didn't save the number. Sorry.
-
Good morning!
Very cool again this morning but it's going to be a pretty day for most of it. I think we're to get some showers tonight. It's beautiful outside right now.
-
Speaking of pins and needles, I was on them this morning when I took my car in for a state inspection. Now that I do my own taxes, this is the most nerve-wracking thing I do annually. You never know what they might find, and even though my car is less than two years old and hasn't been driven much, things can still go wrong.
Anyway, everything passed inspection, and I emerged from the station $30 poorer but relieved of this for another year.
-
Still haven't gotten to Sunday's THE SOPRANOS yet, but I should get to it and ENTOURAGE today. I also have the second disc of special features on the La HAINE DVD to watch. This should take up a majority of my afternoon.
-
Tonight features new episodes on CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox. Of course, I'm looking to see what the singers will do with Latin music on IDOL, there's a new HOUSE that takes place on a plane with passengers getting sick (shades of AIRPLANE!), and new episodes of the LAW & ORDER shows and BOSTON LEGAL along with THE SHIELD.
A full night of TV.
-
I sent good thoughts for your travel today last night, DR Elmore, but I certainly hope you arrive home with no problems.

Haven't seen JANE EYRE in years, so I look forward to its DVD release. Never liked THE LONG LONG TRAILER much.

DR Singdaw, Digger was listed as a mix...but I don't recall what he was thought to be a mix of. Mark and James got him at the Humane Society. I am thinking he is part Australian Shephard or something like that there.

My DS looked at the emails from "ebay" and clicked somewhere that gave him code, and he discovered they originated from eastern Europe.

I saw it, DR Matt H. Thanks!
I'm so paranoid about hackers on eBay and all the other sites from which I purchase, that I change passwords every 3-4 months. I have endless lists of outdated passwords. Oy!
DR Jose, it's been my experience that eBay is very good and quick about email response. send them an inquiry and ask fro a phone number.

Aww, I love dog pictures. I miss my dog.

I tried logging into my ebay account. There appear to be no phone #s posted; the Customer Service options are to contact ebay by email or "live chat", but only after you've logged into your account, as DR JoseSPiano said.
My phishing experiences are mostly with emails that appear to be from Paypal, but aren't.

DR Cillaliz, the interviews with those eliminated from TAR are quite good at theamazingracesucks.com. I believe that these questions are submitted by the forum members (those obcessed with the show). There have been interviews with all the teams. And there have been very interesting clues about the editing. You should read them because you would not believe some of things you will learn about the show.
I personally find it to be fascinating to learn how the show really works.

RE: DANCING WITH THE STARS.
I"m not sure if anybody else watched besides me and DR Cillaliz, but did clyde annoy you?
I don't mind that he stood up to the judges, and yes i am sure he has some level of commitment. But i agree with what len said to him. He is a champion athlete and he does not seem to be giving 100%. Emmitt and jerry (rice) had their challenges too. But i always felt like they were really trying.
To me if you have less skill then you should practice twice as hard as everyone else (like billy ray did). I get nothing when i watch clyde. And it really bugs me. Leeza was not very good last night but at least she tried. And billy ray is not very skilled but his routine was great.
I really hope john and clyde are in the bottom and that one of them goes.

I spent an entertaining evening yesterday by watching the 'Scope version of "Oklahoma!" and then the "Todd-AO" one. What a curious misfire that latter DVD is, technically. A superior version of the film in a vastly inferior presentation. I cannot recall one frame being in sharp focus.
Then I watched the "Candide" concert with Paul Groves and Kristen Chenoweth (yes, AGAIN!), and enjoyed it very much.
I know some here don't like it atall...and that's okay. I have simple tastes.
-
DR Ben, great news about your FL trip.
I spent a week once at a time share on Sanibel. I kept pinching myself the entire week, feeling like I didn't belong there - so luxurious! I'm sure your time will be most pleasant.
-
And DR Ron Pulliam, I knew the quip about TULSA, but had never heard the one about SANIBEL. :)
-
[Is that what you had in mind, DR singdaw?]
My DR Ron Pulliam, you DO love to stir the pot, don't you??? ;)
-
What to do? What to do?
I find myself in a curious situation. One of my co-workers has decided that she is going to be part of my daily walks around the lake.
I've not invited her to join me. I've not voiced any interest in being accompanied. I've not blessed her vocalizations on the topic in any way.
Today she let me know she has brought in her "walking shoes" in anticipation of "our" walks. She has even gone so far as to establish a set time for each walk.
However do I tell her I don't wish to walk with her? This co-worker has a history of trying to ingratiate herself to folks and insertig herself into facets of their lives.
I don't want to hurt any feelings, but....NO!
-
Then I watched the "Candide" concert with Paul Groves and Kristen Chenoweth
I think Paul Groves sounds simply smashing on this...
-
My DR Ron Pulliam, you DO love to stir the pot, don't you??? ;)
It can't just sit there and wither on the vine.
-
However do I tell her I don't wish to walk with her?
Oh, dear. I will be very interested in what our DRs have to say on this subject; I seem to find myself in such situations frequently.
-
Oh, dear. I will be very interested in what our DRs have to say on this subject; I seem to find myself in such situations frequently.
My instinct is to confide in another co-worker and ask that, the next time it comes up, she be told that I have often stated how much I enjoy the alone time of the walk as a way of clearing my head. Perhaps she'll grasp that.
-
wither on the vine.
While her withers wither with her.
(An Into the Woods reference)
-
Another co-worker has just arrived at work. This is the one who has been masking body odor with perfume.
Today it's grotesquely obvious.
I may have to go home "ill."
-
It's because i'm a lesbian that you said that, didn't you Ron??? ;)
Singdaw, that was a thread, a long time ago. IIRC JMK (possibly former DR but he may come back, who knows) began using that phrase after it appeared as almost a throwaway on a Law and Order episode when the female district attorney was leaving the show. It has become a staple, much like
I BLAME JOSE
-
DR Ron, I would have no problem telling the co-worker that I preferred to take my walks alone. That you get pleasure in the solitude.
-
I know how much y'all love folks "sharing" such info.
Otherwise it's a beautiful day in Oakland C-A!
-
And now I'm heading downstairs to check the mail (expecting the DOris Day boxed set today, and I'm going to be LIVID if it doesn't arrive, even though I have no time to watch any of them until probably the weekend.) Then, it's on to preparing lunch.
WBBL.
-
It's because i'm a lesbian that you said that, didn't you Ron??? ;)
Oh, I see....
...then, YES...I've OUTED you!
;D
-
DR Ron, I would have no problem telling the co-worker that I preferred to take my walks alone. That you get pleasure in the solitude.
If I give you her number, would you call her and tell her?

NEWS FLASH:
I've prepared and mailed my taxes.
And GUESS WHAT!!!???!!!
I get a refund from the state this year. My first refund in more than 12 years!
-
I am SO looking forward to this week's "Lost"!
I've seen the previews for the "new" editions of "Ugly Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy"....and I have to say I'm not overly excited about either. I don't mind "best of" shows, as a rule, when you get to see some terrific scenes from great shows of past seasons.
But "Ugly Betty" isn't yet a season old. It seems like a stall tactic to stretch the season.
As for "Grey's Anatomy" doing something similar with highlights from its past seasons....feh.
I sure hope there's an all-new "Smallville" and "CSI".

I'm up, I'm up.
Jose, simply forward each and every e-mail to spoof@ebay.com. Then, you can log into your account, just NOT from the e-mail - go to ebay.com via your browser. Change your password. Then you can see if there are really things listed. Or PM someone here your eBay username and we can look up and see if any of those items are indeed for sale. But, use your browser, log on, change your password immediately. Then, at the very least, you can unlist all those things and contact eBay. eBay is horrid about having a phone number, unlike paypal.
-
Excellent vibes and xylophones to elmore and Cason.
-
And, to dear pixie-like, suave, and hunky DR JOSE ........
Be very wary of any email from either e-bay or PayPal that doesn't have your actual epbay username as part of their greeting. There are a lot of bogus emails from offshore baddies, and the whole look of the email is incredibly accurate and authentic looking. I get them that look so real, and even start off "Dear Lyn," etc., but a real one will also say right up at the top [username *****] and it will be what your actual log-in username is.
And as many have told you this morning, don't ever go ahead and log in or communicate with a bogus email.
And if you don't do what I tell you to, then it's "over the knee" time for you! :)
-
Good morning to dear Esteemed, rested, rehearsing, needled, and ravishing BK --
I wish I'd seen your post about e-bay before I sent mine to dear Jose....I wouldn't have had to be redundant..... oh yes, I was redundant.

"Bust" would have been the most "subtle" word on the topic, apparently.
I guess we've learned that it's folly to cast subtleties after 9:00.....

DR MusicGuy, DH is home sick today. Some nasty bug that I hope I don't get. I have board meetings in the LA area this weekend.
I sure hope they book us at a different hotel. I haven't heard back from the office yet, except they received my email links with the travel reviews and they will look into it.
The reviews from previous hotel guests are amusing to read, except that I know I have a room reserved there.
-
Do you have a toolbelt? I have an electrical outlet that I would like to have moved.
;D
-
My instinct is to confide in another co-worker and ask that, the next time it comes up, she be told that I have often stated how much I enjoy the alone time of the walk as a way of clearing my head. Perhaps she'll grasp that.
"...and yet, he hasn't said anything to me that he likes to walk alone... I guess he wants my company! He must really like me!
Mrs. Pulliam...Mrs. Ron Pulliam...Mrs. Sylvia Pulliam...Mr. and Mrs. Ron and Sylvia Pulliam are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Carlotta..."

Oh, DR Dan(theMan), you are incorrigible. Yes, you are.

What to do?
I would try to nicely explain that the lake is lovely and you can understand that she'd like to walk there, too, but this is your "private time," that you need to be alone to de-stress. some people pick up on such comments right away; others have to be hit between the eyes. I try to start nicely, then escalate only as is necessary. I don't think you'll have to tell her many times.
-
Thanks for the advice, all.
Dan, you have a VIVID imagination. :D

I recently had a situation with a good friend who got just too much into my business, then started dictating to me. I had to break off the friendship, which I hated to do as this person is going through a very difficult time right now and needs support. After a break of several weeks, I'm trying to reestablish the friendship on a much more distant basis. I hate having to break friendships--I always try to keep them in some form. And I really dislike having to be very direct and very firm--the "hit them between the eyes" approach. So, I guess that I, too, would like to hear of others' ways of handling such situations.
-
I've gotten a ton of phishing e-mails from eBay, PayPal, Amazon and banks where I have no accounts. A couple of times, I've actually clicked and gone to the phony site and filled in the login and password boxes with incredibly obscene phrases having to do with "YourMama". Unfortunately, these filthy logins have a tendency to always pop up in legit login boxes on other sites because of the Google toolbar's autofill. I have a hard time explaining to my young nephew why I have such logins on my laptop when he occasionally uses it to websurf.

The toolbelt is on Long Island right now. We only bring it out for "special occasions" ;)
If we ever make it out to Phoenix (we have a friend in Tucson who keeps begging requesting us to visit him) we can bring the toolbelt and do any necessary repairs. Of course, since we don't know when we will be there, it might be easier to just hire the lesbian.

Overkill. I just ordered a copy of the second pressing of the vinyl edition of The Drowsy Chaperone.
Ben, do you (or does anyone) know if the second pressing copies will be numbered? And isn't a "limited edition" supposed to mean that it's limited?? That it's NOT going to be reprinted? Why are they reprinting if they said that it was going to be a "limited edition?"

DR Ben, does the website say if the 2nd pressings are also numbered?
Yea, what he said. ::)

Yes, D-t-M, the Web site says the second pressing is numbered as well. I don't know where the numbers will pick up, perhaps at 1001, since the first pressing, IIRC, was 1000.

Back from an interesting rehearsal - there's always one like this, where things are just "off" - hopefully, we're past that now. I did make the decision to cut the introductory rubato verse to the opening number, and it's much better now.
-
Had a message from muse Margaret saying she'd really enjoyed the pages - she has a couple of questions, but I won't be able to hear what they are until after six. So, pins and needles will remain, just less of them. Hopefully I can answer the questions and hopefully (as has been the case all along with this book) they'll be minor questions. I think she would have said if she'd had any major plot or tone problems, as she did with the ending of Rewind.

So, I'm feeling good, but will feel better after we speak this evening.

DR RonP, I have a feeling that if you talk to this woman you will hurt her feelings. She is probably sensitive and I think she will be hurt.
I sort of liked the idea about having another co-worker casually mention that you've talked to them many times about how you like your walks alone to reflect. Maybe they could even add an "but i'll bet he's too nice to say anything to you."
I suppose there is no way that you would consider walking with her occasionally. That might be a lot easier for her (if you mentioned that you would be happy to walk with her once or twice a week but that the rest of the time you use to think/reflect).
Or perhaps you could mention that you powerwalk and hope it won't be too fast for her.
Good luck.

Just had a nicer than nice conversation with muse Margaret. She loved the pages, and only had three little comments, all of which are easy as pie to do - I have to add a couple of lines in one section, change one verb, and add one little detail and that's that. She liked my first ending (as did I) rather than the alternate, so that's done, too.
VERY happy!

If someone has the AUDACITY to inflict themselves on your personal time without invitation, they DESERVE to have their feelings hurt. I really try to be respectful of people's feelings, but when you're being put upon through no fault of your own, I think you can say "no thanks" kindly, and if that hurts someone's feelings, well, they asked for it.

Ron P - I think whether or not the person deserves to have their feelings hurt (and they are imposing on you in a way that makes it not unreasonable for you to hurt their feelings without guilt), consider though the impact on your own well-being and serenity if this person's feelings are hurt by you. If there are no negative repercussions for you, then what is paramount for you is that these private walks are important for you.
-
I actively seek out people who'll impose upon my well-being and serenity JUST so I can hurt their feelings.

I've made the third change - it required about three new sentences, which I'll read to muse Margaret on the phone this evening.

I popped it into the player to give it a listen while I was internet surfing. An awful debility,
A lessened utility,
A loss of mobility
Is a strong possibility.
In all probability
I'll lose my virility
And you your fertility
And desirability,
And this liability
Of total sterility
Will lead to hostility
And a sense of futility,
So let's act with agility
While we still have facility,
For we'll soon reach senility
And lose the ability.

She watches them on tv (they are from australia). I got her 2 dvds online (they don't sell them here) and all she wants to do is watch them!

Ha ha ha -- oh man, nothing like terrible audition experiences.
I blazed back here into LA today so that I could make an audition this afternoon for a staged reading/production of a musical based on the movie "Mermaids" - which starred Cher. They had specifically asked for a 1960's pop song for the audition.
So, there were only about 7 people at this open call - I was the last one who had walked in; it started up at least a half hour late; then when I finally went it, the pianist couldn't play "Runaround Sue," the song I had picked. So, having been frazzled from driving 6 hours and not really thinking about it when I had left the house, I didn't really have any other music to sing. So, we gave "Miracle of Miracles" a shot, but the accompanist could barely figure that one out as well...
Okay, God, I get it - this one wasn't meant to be! :D

Good Evening!
Well... I believe my e-Bay problem is in the process of being solved. I actually got an e-mail back from e-Bay this morning. So...
In any case... I got into Westport around Noon, and I've been going(!) every since. WHEEEE!!!!!!!!
And now, First Preview. -Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
*And, yes, I will be back up here tomorrow afternoon...

Six hours? What route do you take?

Yes, it could mean the tub is in place.

This was the young plumber, so all is ok.
-
Well, that's pretty standard from Prescott (then again, I was trying to be mindful of my speed, since there were cops scattered throughout the route) -- and I hit a little bit o' traffic just right here in LA.
-
Through Phoenix?
-
No, no - I go down through Skull Valley, Yarnell, Peeples Valley, etc. and pick up the 10 right outside of Quartzsite.
-
Ok. It takes me more than six hours to get to LA from here.

Good luck.
Or tell her the truth, and say you had beans for dinner last night.

Now, all I have to do is catch up on the postings.
You have all been warned.

Indeed -- I saw Merissa's name on the board and thought of you guys. I also saw her flyers on the table next to the front door.
-
What to do?
You could propose marriage. And insist that all her bridesmaids be your ex-boyfriends.
More seriously, she sounds like one of those people who need their feelings hurt, because she's not taking into consideration your own feelings. Sure, she'll wail and weep and make you seem like such a meany, but she's bound to have wailed and weeped many times before, when the people she's forced to include her have have also finally said "no." Just count yourself among the many.
Be selfish, dude.
-
"...and yet, he hasn't said anything to me that he likes to walk alone... I guess he wants my company! He must really like me!
Mrs. Pulliam...Mrs. Ron Pulliam...Mrs. Sylvia Pulliam...Mr. and Mrs. Ron and Sylvia Pulliam are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Carlotta..."
Like minds... sorta.

You're assuming that DR RP considers the person he is dealing with to be a friend. The problem is, the person he is dealing with is also assuming friendship.

I'm curious what you guys thought of sanjaya.
I can't believe j lo seemed to love him.
I will say this though. He was good in his original audition. And even though he annoys me a lot, he must be able to get back that something he had originally.
If he had done this performance 5 weeks ago i probably would have liked it. But i just seem to cringe whenever i watch him now. BUt i agree with simon. It wasn't horrible. It was actually the best he's done in these elimination rounds.
It was interesting to see simon complain about melinda for the first time. I really think she has the best voice. But i must say i just find her slightly boring. And i just don't know if i would want to watch her in a concert performaing song after song.
As for lakisha, i loved her in the beginning. But i'm liking her less each week.
My fav is still blake. I just cannot wait to see what he does every week. And i was very pleased that simon said he was the best of the night. That is really something when you have such good singers.
I think haley has to be the one out this week. I hope it's her and sanjaya.

Yeah my 2 favorites are the first two teams safe!
Well i did think joey fatone did the best dance last night. Although he was in a boy band where they did lots of dance moves. So even though he was out of shape, he still had quite a bit of training.
So the 2 teams safe are apolo and juliane and billy ray and karina. I really love both of those pros as well.
I am quite sure joey will be safe. The only other team i am really rooting for is heather.

Just read muse Margaret the little fixes and she thought they were fine, and now we are finished with this book. One section, the one where I added about a paragraph, is much better now - there was just a little leap the reader had to make, and I got rid of the leap and spelled out what she felt was missing (having to do with a character who was skeptical suddenly believing what said character is being told). It really helped, and it was very simple to do. Otherwise, I added one sentence about twenty pages before that, and changed one word to another near the end of the book.
I went to Staples to print and velo-bind two copies, and that place is just falling apart and getting completely pathetic. Their velo-bind machine is broken, and their replacement machine is broken and he was just too too busy to even print the pages even if the machines had been working. I'll be going in tomorrow morning, when someone I know is there and seeing what's what, before I get a manager to deal with it.

No, DR WOODY, I understand that the walker wannabe is a co-worker, not a friend. I just prefer to take the nice approach first, then only escalate when I have to. Some people really are quite sensitive and will back off immediately. I doubt that the co-worker is totally obtuse. And besides, it's helpful to get along with co-workers.
My second post related to a situation where the offending person really IS a friend, and one I hate to lose. But he just really stepped over the line. Long, involved story and no need to go into it here. Just difficult when someone you do care about and don't wish to hurt puts you in a position that is simply untenable.

From DR RP's posts, it is clear to me that the co-worker is a serial imposer. Being nice simply makes things worse. If you want to wimp out in these situations, that is your choice. But often the best way to say no is to say it clearly and forcefully.
And if she insists on continuing, file a sexual harassment charge. This woman is sick, and RP deserves better treatment than that.

DR Laura, I take TripAdvisor with a grain of salt. People seem to write in and comment mostly when they've had a bad experience. When i was looking for a NY hotel, I felt like no place was safe after reading that site! Hotels that I love, like The Edison, sounded like a real pit! Everything's relative, I think, so don't be afraid if something has a bad review.

Work was interesting. I think my boss sent the other lawyer the email I sent him yesterday. We had a conflict of interest between 2 clients, one was mine and one was the other lawyers'. He just didn't get that it was a real problem, so I called my boss who also clearly didn't understand from the email I sent. It didn't take long on the phone before he got what I was talkking about. Bottom line - we are getting off of both cases (the ethical thing to do) but I can't believe what I had to go through to get that done. It was so obvious, but the other lawyer didn't want to get off his case. Not sure he understands ethics

To bring me up to the beginning of prime time, I watched the "making of" documentary on the EASTER PARADE second disc. Nice but not exceptional.
-
I went to see the rental agent for the new office today. She has to get the owner of the building to sign off on a lease and it just isn't a priority for him so he hasn't gotten to it yet. She keeps apologizing for not getting it done etc. She really feels bad. She's promising a lease by the end of the month. No problem there. That's plenty of time.
The good part is they cleaned the carpet in the new office and they aren't happy with it, so if I'll sign a 2 year lease, they will give me new carpet! 2 years is nothing and will be long enough for me to know if I need more space. So it will be freshly painted with new carpet and they are going to put a mail slot into the wall to the hallway so I can let my post office box go and have the mail delivered to the office.
We measured the office and the agent said that she isn't allowed to take lessees along to pick out carpet, but wondered what color I would like etc. I think she understands exactly what I want.
-
As for tonight's IDOL: an off-night, I thought. No one did exceptional work, but two people did solid professional jobs: Blake and Melinda. Blake was the best he's ever been, and Melinda was her usual smooth, professional, elegant self.
Everyone else had problems of one kind of another. LaKisha had breathing problems and let the backup singers cover for her - not cool. Haley did that as well but with less secure vocals than LaKisha. Poor Phil's voice had a horrible crack near the end, and CHris's was a very "pitchy" performance, something he didn't get nailed for as he should have been.
Jordin's vibrato seemed erratic and her pitch verged on the sharp in her upper register, and Sanjaya, well, it was a touch better than most everything he's sung, but there's still nothing much there.
I think maybe Phil may go home this week and Haley saved due to her hot pants. Chris Richardson may also be in trouble.
For the first time in the competition, I voted tonight. About 1/3 of the time for Melinda and 2/3 of the time for Blake.

THE SHIELD also continued to grip my attention solidly. We say goodbye, at least for now, to Forest Whitaker, but there's still plenty of trouble around the corner for Vic and company.
-
Tomorrow, I should be able to watch tonight's BOSTON LEGAL. DR derBrucer was correct about the two LAW & ORDER shows having reruns tonight. I was glad so that will leave time open tomorrow to watch things I haven't seen before.
-
Oh, HUZZAH dear BK....you must scrimp and atone and deny yourself and be generally as if you were wearing a hair shirt AND eating bitter herbs for several days before our festive dinner. So that no courses will be skipped, and no foods will be passed by!!
Now... as long as the vivacious and studly DR MichaelB doesn't let us down, it will be a truly splendid fete !
I will certainly be there! Just let me know what time din din is! (and I presume you still have my cell phone number)
-
Guess who has an office two blocks from the Music Hall theatre where we premiered the film?
And guess who has contacted us and asked us for a copy?
Brad Pitt!
I think you should deliver the print personally, DR Edisaurus...or better yet, I will deliver the print personally.
-
And speaking of din din...I had two wieners and a salad and am still not full.
-
We measured the office and the agent said that she isn't allowed to take lessees along to pick out carpet, but wondered what color I would like etc. I think she understands exactly what I want.
Casino carpet???
-
Heading down to get ready for bed.
Good night!
-
Good Afternoon! Good Evening!
...I believe I actually have three days off next week... And I think all I'm going to do during those three days is sleep.
But in the meantime, I'll be catching up on today's posts...

Dear BK,
Which of the CDs has Guy Haines singing "I Love Fish" on it? Would you reserve one of those for me?
I wish I could buy lots of CDs, but the house repair bills... oy!
I know that there is a wonderful website that can answer that question.
www.brucekimmel.com (http://www.brucekimmel.com)
and the specific page that will answer the above question is here

Hello! I know I haven't been here in almost a week, but life has become busy, and spare time has been spent sleeping, or in the library.
However, tonight, I had "front row" (meaning squished against the front bar) seats to Ben Folds. Not sure if anyone here is a Ben Folds fan, but I am in LOVE with the man, and I think he's an incredible performer and musician. This is the third time I've seen him in concert, but the closest I've ever been. He randomly just came to JMU.
Of course I screamed the entire time, and will surely regret it in the morning.
Hope everything's lovely here! I'll be around tomorrow, hopefully.
-
Thanks, Michael S!
-
Hi Swishy! Glad you had a good time tonight!
-
Just finished watching Citizen Kane- It was certainly every thing I had heard about it- Wonderful.
-
All caught up on the posts... Now it's Try To Remember time, so...
-
(to the tune of An English Teacher from Bye Bye Birdie)
A walk with Ron might have been fulfilling
But hope is gone 'cause Ron isn't willing
It could have been such a wonderful life
She could have been Mrs. Pulliam
Mrs. Ronald Pulliam
Mrs. I-better-slap-her Pulliam
The shame cuts like a knife
-
DR SwishySarah - I love Ben Folds too! I saw him at Wolf Trap a few summers ago when he was on tour with Rufus Wainwright and Guster. Such a totally crazy-good concert - and just plain crazy!
And I also like the EP he did with "The Bens". "Bruised" is one of the most played iTunes songs. :)
-
DR Ben - I LOVE Sanibel.
Did Ben work at the Old Schoolhouse? or the other theatre basically across the street from there?
I worked for a few months at Broadway Palm in Ft. Myers, and they had a nice deal with one of the resorts on Sanibel. I was there for a Christmas show, and was able to book a nice room on the beach for me and Steve during Christmas week.
OH! And the Bubble Room! That basked of "bubble bread" and sticky buns that come to your table as soon as you sit down, practically a meal in itself! And they also have an incredibly rich Red Velvet Cake too.

-
DR Ron Pulliam - So, what's the other anagram for SANIBEL?
-
When and where is it showing?
Laemmle's MUSIC HALL 3-Beverly Hills
5:10pm 7:20pm 9:40pm
Laemmle's PLAYHOUSE 7-Pasadena
12:50pm 3:15pm 5:30pm 7:50pm 9:55pm
through Thursday but probably not beyond!
-
DR Ron Pulliam (again) - Just tell your co-worker that you prefer to walk alone. And do it sooner than later. No need to stress yourself out on something that is obviously her "problem".
Feelings are not an issue here. You just simply like to walk alone. And she should simply honor your routine.
-
DR edisaurus - Welcome back to Atlanta! -How long do you get to stay in town this time?
-
DR edisaurus (again) - This is something you mentioned a couple of days ago... But I saw the production of Kudzu with the Red Clay Ramblers when it was mounted at Ford's Theatre in DC. The totally talented and adorable, James Ludwig, was the lead. It was sort of weird - in a fun way - seeing him with blond hair. -And all those kudzu vines all over the theatre were a hoot.
-
Thanks to all the DRs who had suggestion as for what I should do in regards to my e-Bay issue this morning. If I did not have to head to the train this morning, I would have spent the time trying to find the proper contact info for e-Bay, but, thankfully, the DRs came to the rescue again.
Also, thankfully, after I had forwarded my e-mails to "spoof@ebay.com", I received an e-mail from e-Bay stating that they had suspended my account and had removed all the listings. So, once I have a bit of time to do some further investigating, I shall do so. But, for now, everything seems OK.
-
I will certainly be there! Just let me know what time din din is! (and I presume you still have my cell phone number)
Dear DR MBarnum....yes you shining jewel of the northwest, I still have your cell number, and it sits close to my heart most days....(it's where my pocket is on my shirt). I guess it's a good thing I don't carry it in my pants.....
You want to make sure that you are very hungry that evening, so have a tiny lunch...... oh yes, tiny bites of almost nothing at all.
-
DR edisaurus - Welcome back to Atlanta! -How long do you get to stay in town this time?
Forever... :'(
Although, Margaret Whiting is out of the hospital, and although she isn't coming here, DH may have to go to NY to interview her.
And if it's during a break in The Closer schedule...
-
I saw a presentation of KUDZU that had a young and very fit Norbert Leo Butz in the lead. It may have been at NAMT - quite delightful.
-
Two Wieners And A Salad - that's the title of my next novel.
-
I just listened to the hidden track at the end of The Burt Bacharach Album- It should have been at the very beginning....
-
And as for rehearsal...
All I will say is this: If I happened to be in the pit for this show, and did not have a "free" music staff person running around editing and copying parts, taking notes for the conductor and the composer and the orchestrator, I'm pretty sure I'd be a bit stressed and overwhelmed. There hasn't been a lot of big work to get done, just a lot of little things. God is in the details. And there are a lot of details.
-
wonder if he'll see himself as Sacco or Vanzetti?
I don't know. Maybe one of the lawyers?
But I DO know that I have a casting couch. ;D
-
Dear enchanting and studly Jose..... I'm glad your long day is finished, and I hope you have a wonderful rest tonight. I send you a warm pat on your po-po to wish you goodnight.
-
Casino carpet???
;D
-
And one for po-po
(whatever that may be)
-

The director of UPTAs (Unified Professional Theatre Audtions) always makes sure to announce before each audition session begins:
"Now that we're about to begin, just a reminder: Please check your cell phones. Please turn them "off", to "silent", or to "Enjoyment".
:)
-
Wasn't PoPo that Cantinflas film?
-
Dear enchanting and studly Jose..... I'm glad your long day is finished, and I hope you have a wonderful rest tonight. I send you a warm pat on your po-po to wish you goodnight.
My po-po is always warm.
-Whatever the frell that means. ::)
-
Two Wieners And A Salad - that's the title of my next novel.
"......oh Arthur, you've eaten............" (we all know the rest!), and I still love it.
I also did three (that is 3) sets of "Kimmel hands" in my car tonight, driving to various things. Yes, the Brain CD was back in the player again. OY !!

Just finished watching a good French policier from 2004 called 36 Quai des Orfevres. I wish the director wasn't so bloody enamored of Michael Mann, but the story is very good and the cast was great - more in the notes. However, be afraid, be very afraid - on the imdb there are a lot of comments wondering why an excellent film with two powerhouse French stars that would appeal to an American audience could not get a release in the US. Simple - it was bought by an American company who is - wait for it - remaking it - they just sat on it and it remains unreleased. The cast for the American version? Robert De Niro and George Clooney. I'm quite certain it will be awful in just about every way.
-
Isn't PoPo what they cry out duiring the Dance at the Jim in West Side story?
-
As for the first preview...
It went very well. The cast seemed fresh, and the audience was very attentive and really seemed to "get it". -And they also didn't seem to mind the lack of an intermission. There were a few rustles at the two-hour mark, but they stayed in their seats until the end about 15 minutes later.
-
MusicGuy - You mean "Arthur, you've eaten more po-po than anyone else?"
So is po-po some sort of Hawaiian dish?
-
And one for po-po
(whatever that may be)
dear DR Fred....well, from my adopted Jewish mother I learned years ago that the "pupick" (sp?) was the tummy. And though not yiddish derived, the "po-po" is the pair of cute little butt-cheeks that one sits on.
Here endeth the reading......go with God.
-
Time for this cowgirl to get some sleep. Night all. Rest well DR Jose. You deserve it!
-
Popo,
People who need popo,
Are the popiest people in the world
-
Isn't PoPo what they cry out duiring the Dance at the Jim in West Side story?
PoPo the Puppet can do anything
When somebody else pulls the string!
-
So is po-po some sort of Hawaiian dish?
A PoPo Platter?
-
And I have to say that John Kander has to be one of the nicest and most generous people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. It's been great getting to know him over the past couple of weeks. And I'm amazed at how much I've learned over the past couple of days just by taking notes for him.
And, yes, I will be taking notes for him at tomorrow night's preview. I'm part of the "family" now. :)
-
MusicGuy - You mean "Arthur, you've eaten more po-po than anyone else?"
So is po-po some sort of Hawaiian dish?
Fred... your mind really is wonderfully warped, and I'm glad I'm going to (hopefully) get to meet you in NY this summer.
When I read the first line above, I think I may have pee'd my desk chair! :)
-
Isn't PoPo what they cry out duiring the Dance at the Jim in West Side story?
Aren't you thinking of Shi-Po-Po?
-
Time for this cowgirl to get some sleep. Night all. Rest well DR Jose. You deserve it!
Alas, I have to be out of the house tomorrow by 9:00. I'm playing some Grease auditions tomorrow. It promises to be quite an interesting session.
-
Goodnight, Cillaliz!
What am I still doing up?
-
Aren't you thinking of Shi-Po-Po?
Hmm... Well, John's been looking for a new "button" for one of the songs in the show. I'll suggest that too him tomorrow.
;D
-
Goodnight dear Jose....take care of your po-po.
Goodnight lovelies and crazies...... I must drift into dreamland.
Goodnight guapo BK..... you chiseled hunk of manitude !
-
Edi - got your message. Glad it got there.
-
DR singdaw - Is there any chance you could make a stop at that bakery sometime tomorrow and pick up a couple containers of those ginger snaps? And then drop them off at Westport? -Or at least give me directions to the place from Westport?
;)
-
Oh, you're gonna see that little popo shake
And all that....
(wait, this is a family site)
-
DR Cason - I'm sorry you had a bad audition experience.
And I find it kind of strange that the pianist could not play "Run Around Sue". -You brought in the music in your own key, right? I've come across some of the music for Mermaids and it's not hard, but it's also not really easy to play. If the pianist could play the music from Mermaids, then s/he should have been able to play "Runaround Sue". -Of course, with some of the younger pianists out there, if the song was written "before Wicked" or "before Rent", then there's a good chance that they haven't heard it before. :-\
-
Got a little adage 'cause my Mom's a Jew
When you're good to Popo
Popo's good to you
When they pass that basket as folks like to do
You put in for Popo
It puts out for you
-
DR Cason (again) - Now if you could be at Ripley-Grier between 10:00am and 2:00pm EST tomorrow/today... I think you'd make a good Doody. ;)
-
I know a couple of Runaround Jews, but no Runaround Sues.
-
Got a little adage 'cause my Mom's a Jew
When you're good to Popo
Popo's good to you
When they pass that basket as folks like to do

It puts out for you
Hmm... Something tells me I won't be sharing that with Mr. Kander tomorrow.
;)
-
We're be back with more of Popo Gigio after this message.
Also, can Cason make a good Doody, with or without Grease?
-
I guess that was a single entendre.
-
Will we never get to page seventeen?
-

Yeah, I brought it in the right key and everything. He was an older gentleman and was able to get through the first portion (where he just plays the chords and holds while I sing), but then when he actually had to play something at tempo, he just couldn't keep it going and the director even made a comment like, "Well, this certainly isn't one that people go around humming these days." !?
-
What other Kander and Ebb songs could have Popo put into them?
-
There's Oom-Po-Po by Lionel Bart
Popo Can You Hear me? by Michel Legrand and the Bergmans
Happy and Popo And Bursting With Love (not sure who wrote that)
-
As for tonight's "American Idol" - I've had it on in the background while I've been reading and posting...
Sort of a dud night. The "Latin" music featured was not really that "Latin". Very middle-of-the-road material.
When I heard that Chris R. was singing "Smooth", I immediately knew it would be a test for him. That song requires quite a bit of range - especially on the low end. And even though they raised the key for him, he still had to modify the opening (and/or he just totally blew it - I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt).
I liked Blake the best, but I thought it would have been neat to hear him sing a Marc Anthony or Enrique Iglesias ballad. However, it was nice to hear more of his top range.
Melinda was good, but I think tonight may - and should - have been a wake up call for her. As all these sort of stupid theme weeks come up, she's definitely gonna have to pick some material that does not sit naturally for her. Yes, she may still come across as professional and polished. But that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be exciting.
And Jordin still sounds a bit off-pitch to me.
-
I feel like a kid who just learned a new word.
-
And even thought I should be in bed by now... I'm not. I stopped for some food after the van dropped me off at 125th Street, and I just need some digesting time. -And I also still have to type up the notes from tonight's first preview.
-
I feel like a kid who just learned a new word.
And what will tomorrow's new word be?
;)
-
That wild dance The Pennsylvania Popo
I'm sure MusicGuy's favorite toy, the Popo Stick
Since yuckilicious was already used, is there anything like Popalicious? (almost sounds religious, don't it?)
-
I don't know about tomorrow's word, but for sheer learning pleasure, popo may be hard to top.
-
I guess I won't be seeing 17 tonight.

Lena Horne?!?!?!?!
;)
*However, I'm not sure I agree about the new seats at the Playhouse. They're quite comfy, and there is nice amount of legroom, however, they're "stacked" right in front of the other. Consequently, the best seats in the house are the ones in the second row - which is deeper than the other rows, LOTS of leg room, and any of the seats on the side aisles. Otherwise, you have a couple of heads in your view of the stage.
-
OK... Notes have been typed up and sent. Train schedules have been checked, and I'm about to fall asleep on my laptop, so...
Goodnight.
-
Today when I went to the dentist, my check up was good, for the most part (flossing...the bane of my existance ::)) but I just noticed this weekend that I chipped a tooth! So, the choice was for them to either fill it (which would, I assume, involve an additional cost!) or to smooth it out and they chose to smooth it out. They got out the drill and grinders and I must admit, they looked scary! But it actually wasn't bad at all. I "felt" the noise throughout my whole head, but it wasn't horrible. Now, I'm chip-free. :)

Isn't PoPo what they cry out duiring the Dance at the Jim in West Side story?
There's someone named Jim in West Side Story??
