Well, you've read the notes, the notes counted down, and now it is time for you to post until the counting down cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHILIAD!
-
First post after BK!
-
And the word of the day is: CHILIAD!
I've never read it...or The Chodyssey.
-
;)
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Around 3:00 I awoke with a terrible charley horse in my right leg. It was really bad and affected the remainder of my sleep.
-
Today I must pay some bills and take care of some Jerome Moross work. I'd like to finish it in the next three days.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I wanna sleep some more.
-
I have one of my four-hour training sessions today. I hope I can stay awake.
-
I’d rather be reading my Zola novel.
-
Continuing yesterday's discussion:
Roz Russell was totally wrong for GYPSY, as was Debbie Reynolds for MARY, MARY.
But, Ethel Merman and Barbara Bel Geddes were Broadway stars, not movie stars.
Yes, both roles were poorly cast, but I'm sure that Jack Warner had as much, if not more, to do with those decisions as Mervyn LeRoy.
-
T.O.D.
The only "full" version of PORGY AND BESS that I've seen is the Preminger movie.
Despite its faults, I wish they would release it onto DVD.
-
I liked Rosalind Russell as Rose.....but what do I know....I thought she acted the hell out of the role....my big problem with the casting in that movie was Karl Malden, the drip....
Funny musical DR FJL.
-
I cannot comment on the TOD because I don't like the show or the music....probably because the first time I heard it, I didn't know anything about it and hated the people who were singing it....
I am happy for those who enjoy it.
-
So yesterday we did our dancing - to the finale - in SISTER ACT. And the choreographer just said: "You're doing fine...you are working very hard...."
Which means it's not so good, but I give up.....just do what you're doing.
And so i will.
-
We made our patrol and the building is safe; no vampires or goblins lurking anywhere, so Annabelle feels she's done her duty for today. She knows we can do nothing about the ghosts.
-
We are not going to see DR ChasSmith today, so I will work without, hopefully, Annabelle's assistance. She doesn't claim to be an orchestrator, arranger, or editor, but she does love to lie on the work in progress and be a muse.
Thatch's attitude is "orchestrator/shcmorchestrator, who gives a damn?" Thank you, Jesus.
-
I discovered this today. I'm curious about reading some of these:

-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Elmore and I are moving the boxes of library donations out this week. We were trying for today or Wednesday, and being on vet duty today makes Wednesday the better choice. Which will be good. The rains we're supposed to be getting tonight and tomorrow should be cleared out and the day will be free. FREE!
-
I thought I wrote a sizable post about PORGY AND BESS not long ago. Yes, it must have been when BK announced this release. Maybe I'll just go find it and drop it in here. Anyone who didn't read it before -- here's your chance, because there's going to be a test later.
-
Here it is:
Being taken to see the film in 1959 or 1960 is what blew me away and opened my ears (and eyes) to the world of Gershwin. A few years later I became enamored of the 3-LP "complete" (not) Lehman Engel recording on Columbia. I then branched out to the "original cast" one on Decca, and finally got the movie soundtrack. I liked different aspects of all of these, but it was in discovering the RCA recording with Price and Warfield that I became obsessed. Finally, here were some truly great voices with truly competent conducting -- not that Previn was any slouch on the film in that regard, but here was Skitch Henderson of all people knocking it out of the park. My obsession resulting from that eye-opening 1960s recording remains alive and well to this day.
That was it for quite a while. I still have my beautiful first issue of the Mel Torme version, but I never really connected with it (I always think I should give it a new chance). I enjoyed the Lena Horne and Belafonte recording. I love the Gershwin-played and conducted excerpts. In the 1970s the Cleveland Orchestra released the first truly complete recording. It was musically stiff and bland, but I couldn't get enough of hearing all of that heretofore missing music. Then along came the Houston Grand Opera version which I think is still really wonderful.
I was never on the right coast at the right time to see the Met's production. (I might still have my rough off-the-air recording from around 1984 when KFAC in L.A. was transmitting the Saturday broadcasts. Ironically, that highly anticipated one suffered long dropouts -- which I called the station about as they were happening, and they were as distressed as the listeners were. You could do that in those days, dial a station and have your call picked up by the person at the controls and get immediate information.)
I had no interest in the recent notorious re-conceived Broadway version.

E&T DR edisaurus is on her way over for a visit. Annabelle is excited, and Thatch is looking for a place to hide.
-
Kristi and Nathan return tomorrow from Florida where the livin' is easy. When you're on vacation, that is. It's been over 90 every day with heat index over 100.
It's SO hard for me to believe that we lived in Fort Lauderdale for almost a decade without air conditioning in the house. As did most of our friends. Only a few lucky ones had it. Yes, you get somewhat used to it over the course of a year or two, but sheesh. We didn't even have it in the damned car at first. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

That's excellent! I would really love to meet her one of these days.

Page one! Page One!! PAGE ONE???
-
Not for much longer, sir.
-
TOD:
I've never seen "Porgy and Bess" in any incarnation. It's on my list of classic musicals I really must see, along with "Hello Dolly" and "South Pacific".
-
Hi, DR Edi.
-
Having laptop problems at work. Not fun.
-
Thanks so much, also even for looking at it, Jrand!
-
DR edisaurus and I had a wonderful 2-hour visit and she brought toys for the kitties! Thatch showed off and enthusiastically played with his. Annabelle sniffed hers and retired to her closet. How Shakespearean.
-
Around 3:00 I awoke with a terrible charley horse in my right leg. It was really bad and affectewd the remainder of my sleep.
Oh, no! I hate it when that happens. :P

HA! Annabelle is particular.....
-
Annabelle is a diva.
-
Good morning. Late morning.

Poor kitty and one of my all-time favorite animal videos. Watch it to the bitter end.

Sounds like our East coast experience.
-
My cast is off and I am not to wear the sling, yet I am not to use my arm. It is going to be a challenge.

Nice.

HA! Annabelle is particular.....
Yes, she is! She wants you to direct Bell Book and Candle so she can play Pyewacket. She also expects a salary!

I'd adopt Pinky in a second!
-
Woke up after six hours of sleep.
-
Dealt with merde right at the top of the day. Amazing how merde puts a damper on everything.
-
Then I went to the House of Pies and met with my set designer. He's come up with something very simple and fun that will really serve the show well. He'll now make me a model I can play with.
-
I had two broasted chicken breasts - kind of gross - should have had eggs.
-
Quite nauseous right now.
-
Traffic everywhere is horrible and for no reason. Going there it was because they could see some fire trucks about a half mile away on a hill - everyone had to slow up and why? Coming back, no reason for any of it.
-
I'll go to the mail place soon.
-
I shall mention BELL, BOOK, AND CANDLE to the program committee DR ELMORE.
-
Now I shall be off for the Designer's Run of SISTER ACT.....Spread the Love......
-
Pinky was having NONE of it!
-
Pshaw! Child's play. You should see Thatch when he's having none of it.
-
Miracle number one has arrived.
-
So a few days of respite ahead, thank goodness.

Miracle number one has arrived.
Great news, BK!

Pinky did not like the leash. I felt bad for the guy too-ouch.

Miracle number one has arrived.
That is how I feel today getting my cast off.
-
I found out today that I don't have 2 screw holding the plate in place but 6 screws :o Maybe one day they will remove all the hardware and maybe not. I will have to keep it at least a year.
-
109% and both signed Sondheim notes are now gone.
-
DR edisaurus sent me three photos she took today. She also sent a wonderful video of Thatch playing, but I have no idea how to take it from my Facebook messenger and download it to my Facebook videos.
-
Nice photos.
I don't know how to transfer the video either but I bet edi can tag you on facebook with it.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Good evening!
-
Going to watch the Emmy Awards, at least till I fall asleep, which will probably be by about 8:30 pm.

I set my DVR to record them.
-
Watching a vampire movie that’s singularly unattractive: Spike Lee’s Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.
-
Strange day at work. I didn’t have to do the dreaded four-hour training session. But I ended up with four other meetings. So it all balanced out.
-
I am shutting down my computer for the night. Chances are I won't use my tablet tonight in order not to bother my elbow.
-
What is this page three malarkey?
-
Today I saw a cat on the front lawn. What it was doing there I have no idea.
-
Just now I saw a dog in my house. Baxter Geissman was his name. I have doggie treats here for that very thing and he ate three of them.

What...no picture??
-
Well, I need to leave work.
-
My sister needs help moving a canopy in her backyard, so I'll go over there and help.
-
Fortunately, it's pretty light.
-
And with the help of her boyfriend and daughter, we'll all be able to movie it very easily.
-
We can just pick it up and move it.
-
We don't have to move it far...just from the lawn to the patio.
-
And now, since we're so close...
-

And now, I'm off!
Be back later.

Watching a vampire movie that’s singularly unattractive: Spike Lee’s Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.
The movie turned into something else. Rather odd yet affecting. Apparently it's a remake of another film called Ganja and Hess.

:o
LOL!
-
I think I need to do some reading. My next movie, I Never Sang for My Father, is not putting me in the right mood. Gene Hackman is great, perfectly natural as always. Melvyn Douglas, whom I generally like, is overacting like crazy.
-
Good night, all.
-
Hello
-
Is it me you're looking for?
-
Vixdad and I were watching "you've Got Mail"
-
I love that movie
-
I could watch that and Sleepless in Seattle once a week
-
Chick flicks Vixdad calls them disdainfully
-
But I notice he stays and watches them
-
I could watch anything Tom Hanks was in
-
Except that thing with the disgusting drooling dog
-
Of course everybody doesn't like something but nobody doesn't like Tom Hanks
-
To steal that old Sara Lee commercial
-
I would like to have a big fish of tin roof sundae icecream right now
-
No, no I wouldn't
-
I would like to have a big DISH of tin roof sundae ice cream right now
-
I don't actually have any in the house
-
So the first one of you to stop by with it may share it with me
-
Ain't I generous?
-
Elmore I am glad you had a nice visit withEdi today
-
I hope she remembered to deliver my hug
-
I don't remember when I first saw Porgy and Bess but it was definitely on television...maybe when we first got cable and AMC first started
-
I just bought a DVD of the Harry Belafonte movie online but I haven't watched it yet
-
There is a guy in my office that makes amazing Italian heroes every once in a while he will make them for the whole office
-
But today he brought one in just for me
-
Actually I have noticed that the entire office has been taking turns feeding me
-
I have a tendency to just get in early and work straight through and never actually eat anything
-
Which brings forth the question
-
Why am I so darn fat?
-
Could be the late night dishes of tin roof sundae ice cream I suppose
-
Of which I will not be partaking today
-
Since there is none in the house
-
It's made by Turkey a Hill y the way in case any of you are on your way to the all night supermarket to get some for me
-
Friday someone brought me half a cheeseburger and some fries
-
Thursday someone gave me a plate of eggplant rollatini and baked ziti
-
Wednesday there was a glazed donut
-
So maybe I am loved
-
Or they reLize I am so fed up with the job they're afraid I'll leave and then they'll have to do it
-
So l they're feeding me like a stray cat in hopes I'll stick around
-
Or get too fat to get out of my chair
-
Yom Kippur starts at sundown tomorrow
-
I wish an easy fast to those observing the occasion
-
Well here we are on page five with nothing but drivel from the likes of me
-
Sorry 2 guests for the boring nonsense
-
I will try to think if some more entertaining nonsense
-
Chas, did you see that Lumberton is under water again?
-
I wonder if my favorite stopping place is affected
-
Mind if I hawk this Fasting shtick again?
"I Will Survive Yom Kippur"

-
That's fantastic FJL!
-
Goodness gracious. It's nearly 1 am
-
What are we East coasters doing up?
-
Don't we have work in the morning?
-
Don't I have to drive Vixdad to the train station?
-
It's been officially 1month since Vixdad drove his car to the Hyundai dealer
-
I am sorry I didn't answer the queries about lemon laws... The car is 15 years old, but has only about 80,000 miles
-
I don't think it had a fatal illness
-
I think the socalled mechanics killed it with incompetence
-
I wanted to go down there and see what's what but Vixdad prefers to handle things more sedately through Geico
-
I suspect he is concerned about venting of spleen
-
However I firmly feel that there are times when only a real spleen venting will do the trick
-
Of course he may be concerned I will attempt a spleenectomy on an incompetent and incommunicative mechanic
-
With a dull tire iron
-
Vixmom has been on a roll and I am jiggy with it.
-
Vixmom has been on a roll and I am jiggy with it.
Yes , but are you going to bring me any tin roof sundae ice cream?
-
Or stroganoff ?
-
You could send me a Kimmel Kitchen Kit with all the ingredients for your stroganoff and instructions so I could make it my very own self
-
Though the logo might not be politically correct
-
Next month you could send me the Wacky Noodle Kimmel Kitchen Kit
-
I should think of something intelligent to write before my next post, but why start something new now?

For DR George and anyone else who enjoyed the Sherman Brothers medley clip I posted the other day:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLrgfNLYf-U
It's rumored that the hooded and shaded pianist is actually a famous rock star incognito. Who knows?
-
Glad your cast is off, Jane!
Vibes to all.
Good night.
-
I think it's time for a little shower, don't you?
-
Happy Millstone to vixmom!
-
Good evening.
-
I was gone to the fair all day...
-
And I was having computer problems all evening.
-
”...the people who inspire the living crap out of me!”

—Darrin Criss, 9/17/18, Emmy Acceptance speech for Best Actor in a limited series or TV movie.
-
What poetic words!
-
Today at the fair I at a $7.75 burger and a $6.00 ear of corn.
-
Last night I said the scones used to be 25 cents. Actually, someone reminded me that when I was a kid they started out at 15 cents a piece.
-
Now, they are priced at $1.75 a piece.
-
I have no idea what percentage the price has increased.
-
I still bought six of them to bring home.

Hello, 0 Guests.

I am all alone in the world.
-
I am sorry I missed talking to vixmom.
-
Good night to nobody.
-
Good night, Tom.

I guess BK hasn't written his notes, yet.
