I may or may not be through writing for the day - I'm going very slowly because I keep adding stuff to the first two chapters.   Still, I'm making good progress.

I truly don't know how to respond to this.  Are you addressing this to me?  If so, what on earth have I posted in this forum that makes you believe I'm at odds with you on this issue?  I think we are both on the same side of the fence.

No, it was not addressed to you in particular. I was expressing my point of view on P.C.  to the HHW group (and lurkers and guests) as a whole.

In about two hours I shall toddle over to the Disney studios to do the ASCAP/Disney workshop.

And tomorrow is the 31th....that's "thirty-oneth" to anyone wondering if I typed the wrong ordinal ending.

La Dolce Vita is not a movie..It is a voyage. I love it when I have that feeling like I've been somewhere, in another place, after I watch a movie. I think I will have to watch it about a million more times before I fully understand and appreciate it.

La Dolce Vita is amazing on just about every level.  I find the ending of the film, with that beautiful blonde girl trying to communicate with someone for whom communication is dead, to be ineffably moving.

Not only is communication, but so is his soul - or so it seems to me - especially with the dead, bloated, and deformed fish that has washed ashore.

I hope they didn't run roughshod over the library and give the film community a bad name! Keep us posted so we can keep our eyes peeled for the display!

Well, DR Edi, I haven't been around many film crews, but they'd have to be pretty darn rowdy to compete with the dramas that play out on a regular basis in our building.  These guys seemed very professional.

MBrnum-I too enjoy the ethnic & race diversity of the larger cities & have greatly missed it in some of the towns we have lived in.  It must be exposure since most immigrants to those towns learned to speak English & worked hard to balance their two cultures.

On the other hand I have met too many people who don’t make an effort to learn our language & then have actually criticized me for not speaking theirs.  One reason why so many Californians have little patience for the situation there.

I'll add myself to the chess group. My brother tried to teach me when we were teenagers, and I ended up having him hit me over the head with the board because I just could NOT remember which directions the pieces moved. I could learn lines in plays and lyrics in songs easily, but I couldn't learn what to do with a bishop or rook. Argh!

And if you had been an altar boy, you would have already known what to do with a Bishop.

Many people on the board but no postings for thirty minutes.  It's enough to make a Jew eat herring.

Give good advice, BK!

BTW, when did participants in the ASCAP Workshop start doing press releases about being accepted into the Workshop?  Just read one on one of the theater sites.

Oh, I guess ASCAP itself did the press release.  I got confused by the title of the article.  They never did that back in the old days, right?

And yet most of the article seems to be about only one of the four musicals.  I'm confused.

Maybe one of the musicals did a press release with lots of info about itself, but felt obligated to mention the other three musicals?

It's towards the back of the orchestra, but it's just where I sat for the last show in that theater, so I know the view is pretty good from there.

Meaning the back of the orchestra section of the audience, not the orchestra itself.

As opposed to where Cilla is sitting for Spring awakening, which is with the actual orchestra and cats.
