Autumn in New York made me think of the wonderful Dawn Upshaw/Vernon Duke album; My Q for mr Kimmel, allowing for discretion where necessary, is what did you think in yesterdays list of Kennedy Center Honorees?

Good morning, all! I have nothing new to report: it's another day of guidelines till noon, then Brain surgery for the rest of the day. I want to turn in the new synth parts to the  MD tomorrow morning - I've got two and a half numbers to finish today.

And that's my news.

Good morning from OZ.
Tonight's viewing was "Life On Mars". I wonder if this UK series will have a USA adaptation!  The "time travel" aspect is an interesting layer.

Spekaing of "to key a," and I was, I wonder if anyone at the reservoir will be blowing a shofar today, in honor of Rosh Hashanah, that is.

Of course, Letterman will use the joke tonight about it being difficult to adjust to the New Year, that for weeks he'll be dating his checks 5767.

And that today, before the New Year begins at sundown, is the venerable Jewish holiday tradition of Rusha Homa.

Ny-Quil did come to the rescue.  My head hit the pillow just after midnight and that was that.  I don't think I woke up once during the evening, a first for this trip.  I inner clock got me up just before eight.  I think one more night like that will do wonders.  And while I'm groggy, I can tell I feel better, if only for having gotten a good night's sleep.  I think I'll still be coughing today and my voice is shot, but I think by Friday I'll be okay.

Normally, when doing my weekly complete hard drive backup to mini-hard drive, it takes about a minute.  Today it's taking fifteen minutes because of the new operating system.

Great pics from DR ADRIANNA PATTI....I see Hollywood's own Roosevelt Hotel, where all the parties for "This Is Your Life" were held....and that view is very similar to that seen out the window of the Ricardo suite at the Beverly Palms hotel!

Wednesday morning greetings!  Everyone was surprised to see me show up at work this morning.  I have a nonprofit event here this noon and had made all kinds of contingency plans before leaving yesterday.  My managers and lots of other staff members have pitched in and were prepared to host the event in my absence.  I am most appreciative.

No word from the hospital before I left this morning, so I'm hoping that means things are progressing smoothly for Harriet.  No news is good news, in matters like this.
