I ushered tonight for Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots. I left at intermission. His opening act, Emma Klein, was one of those singer-songwriters who has a good voice and really horrible music. Imagine new age chants. No melody. Just the same line repeated over and over and over again. Oh, and depressing, too.

Way too much happening at work, because so many people were out. I was at the downtown office, where everyone leaves at 2 on Friday. I was there until 5:30. And I was in meeting after meeting.

Back to watching this weird French movie, L'Humanite, which is a murder mystery with a police detective who does not connect with other humans either physically or terribly emotionally. The nonactor in the lead role is a very sad-faced, wide-eyed individual. You can almost feel the character's thought processes in action.

My building closes at 7:00, but tonight I was the last person in the building by 6:00 pm.

We don’t have much thunder in Western Washington during the summer, but when we do have a storm it usually fades out when it gets dark.
