Well, you've read the notes, the notes were B.I.G., and now it is time for you to post until the B.I.G. cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GLEAM!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
George, I answered your question in the other topic.

Good morning, friends.

~~~CONTINUED MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!
B.I.G. was B.I.G. before The Notorious B.I.G. was B.I.G.
And before Sex and the City's Mr. BIG.
And before Bob's Big Boy, the restaurant chain, which wasn't founded until 1936.
-
All the subsequent BIGs had BIG britches to fill.
I think I've taken this idea about as fer as it can go.
I enjoyed the B.I.G. notes, BK!
I slept 30 minutes later than I wanted, but I had Annabelle sleeping under the blankets with me and Thatch sleeping on top of the blankets on the other side. It was so warm and pleasant I did not want to move them.
I've had three days to deal with my cataract. Today I return to the ballet. No. 7 is a long one, and I need to grind it out as quickly as possible. I want to finish up the first scene of the ballet and get on to the next.
I was just wondering what happened to broadcaster and American Songbook maven Jonathan Schwartz.
-
Well, now I know. He was fired from WNYC in 2017 due to misconduct allegations. He was streaming for a while, and has now retired. I used to enjoy his show.
-
He was, of course, the son of composer Arthur Schwartz.
BK: The one time I saw Mr. B.I.G. was when you and I did a quick walk-through at that convention (Monsterpalooza?) in Burbank during an HTF meet in October 2012. As I recall, he was standing around Joe Turkel's table, and I think you hadn't seen him in a while, and you were telling him you two must get together again and have another meal at Genghis Cohen.
-
I have most of his movies (on DVD, but I they might have appeared on Blu-ray by now), and I'll bet it's been nearly ten years since I watched them. It's time to revisit the favorites, including hearing that commentary again.
-
Back to the Windy City tonight, that mythical land where housewives see the milkman instead of screwing him.
I would love to make a film called Commissary, so the home video release could have a commentary on the commissary.
DR ChasSmith, may your banner unfurl valiantly in the wind.
I think the only banner I could valiantly unfurl in this one would be "Free Roxie" or some such.
Happy CHICAGO vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.....watch out for giant grasshoppers.
They are on the loose in that city.
TOD:
The first B.I.G. movie I saw was The Beginning of the End - with the giant grasshoppers.
It was great! And Peggie Castle had a telephone in her car! And Peter Graves - I knew him from FURY on television.
I really REALLY like Earth vs. The Spider and I am fond of Village of the Giants.
BUT my very most absolute complete favorite is ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE.....the cast is so much fun and Mr John Hoyt is wonderful....and the songs are terrific!
SO there you are. DR singdaw - you must of course see this film at once!
-
I visited the shelf with the Gordon films to see what I actually have, and I'd forgotten there were this many. Note the VHS copy of The Amazing Colossal Man, which was the only way I could find it.
DR Jrand72, your favorites are all good by me. The one movie I believe I never watched is The Magic Sword, and that shall be rectified posthaste.
-
Couldn't help but think of former DR MBarnum when I read the news last night.
Someone needs to find him and tell him to get his ass back here.
-
Okay, back to work.
I'm going through the score and making all of my notations readable.
And then I've got to warm up on the six (6) piano licks that need reviewing every bleeping time I play a rehearsal or performance. I'm very thankful that tonight is a rehearsal.
Sad news regarding Chaim Topol.
Gratuitous post 99!
-
Good afternoon.
-
We got the news of which shows are coming on tour next season. I am underwhelmed, with one exception.
-
Great news, DR John G.
-
The news says that we have had 75 inches of snow so far this season. 3 to 5 more expected today, and 3 to 6 more on Saturday.
-
What the one exception, DR Laura?
-
We got the news of which shows are coming on tour next season. I am underwhelmed, with one exception.
And that one exception is?
-
Inquiring minds want to know!
-
Here are the shows:
Tina Turner; Ain't Too Proud; The Wiz; Jagged Little Pill; MJ; The Kite Runner; Hamilton (third time). And Peter Pan.
-
I'll just bet it's Pampelmousse: The Musical, isn't it?
-
I am not a fan of biographical shows. There are three this season. Three.
-
The news says that we have had 75 inches of snow so far this season. 3 to 5 more expected today, and 3 to 6 more on Saturday.
And while my radio
Says Chicago’s 11 below
I’ll sit weeping softly
Into my iced coffee
And dry the tears
With sun on my face.
Thank you, Bob Merrill
-
The Wizard was a real person, so four. ;)
-
I wanna see The Wiz.
-
Thank you, Bob Merrill
Indeed.
-
This has to be the worst season we've ever had. The only one I have any interest in is Peter Pan.
-
I saw the original NY production of The Wiz on an elementary school field trip.
-
Is it Peter Pan, or Peter Pan Goes Wrong?
-
Come to town on January 6 and I'll give you the tickets.
-
Peter Pan. I know someone who would be very happy to see it.
-
BAD Cinderalla. Bad.
-
FIVE!
-
Sakes alive.
-
At least Bad Cinderella isn't touring yet.
-
The season option is Les Mis, which I've seen a number of times. But this tour has a local actor who moved on and up. We miss him here locally, and I'd enjoy seeing him in Les Mis.
-
DR Laura - that avatar photo is the cutest thing ever.
Actually, four. Ain't Too Proud is about The Temptations.
While I loved the novel, I am not sure I would want to watch The Kite Runner as a play.
-
Hamilton is a biographical musical, is it not?
-
I don't know if Jagged Little Pill is about Morrissette, or if it just uses her song catalogue.
-
The TOD is hard for me so I asked Keith for his response since he actually liked these films and watched them long before we met.
-
First film:
The Amazing Colossal Man
-
Favorite film:
He keeps changing his mind. He simply has too many good memories of watching, and enjoying these.
-
First he told me his favorite film was Earth vs The Spider.
-
Then he said it was Beginning of the End.
-
Now he has settled on Attack of the Puppet People.
-
I don't believe I have seen any of those films-lol
-
I am surprised, DR Jane, seeing as how you were a friend of Susan's.
-
Six.
-
Her "Den Mother" time here at HHW was before my time.
-
And I'm as old as the hills.
-
I don't know if Jagged Little Pill is about Morrissette, or if it just uses her song catalogue.
It's an original story using the songs from the album.
-
I am surprised, DR Jane, seeing as how you were a friend of Susan's.
I didn't really know her father, and Susan working wasn't a novelty. She would be off school, then return, no big deal. I remember being very interested when she was working with Danny Kaye as I adored him. If she was on tv I would have watched her. Even then, the only show she did that was a big deal was Twilight Zone. I remember commenting to her after seeing a shampoo commercial she did as I liked how they did her hair. She was underwhelmed by my comment ;D
-
My guess is that the first film I saw was The Boy and the Pirates. It seems like something I would have gone to see.
-
In high school Susan talked a lot about her experience while filming Picture Mommy Dead, so of course we went to see it. Keith remembers we saw it at the drive-in. I only remember we went to see it. It was pretty much what we were expecting.
-
That is the only movie I saw simply because Susan was in it.
-
That's some good entertainment there DR CHAS SMITH.
The Amazing Colossal Man [owned by James Nicholson's widow and being hidden away by her] and its sequel War of the Colossal Beast are highly entertaining.
The Cyclops features Gloria Talbott!
DR singdaw Attack of the Puppet People features one song.....'You're A Dolly'......that Susan Gordon recorded for MR BK on a CD of horror film tunes.....
-
Had two tacos from the jernt I like.
-
I'll leave for the opera performance around six.
-
Just in case I have trouble finding the parking lot on the college grounds and the theater.
-
I wonder if anyone ever sang "You're a Dolly" to Dolly Parton.
-
:)
-
I have to replace my work computer on Monday, which is going to be a BIG pain in the you-know-what.
-
Oh, heck. I'll just say it, in DR ChasSmith's honor.
-
ASS.
-
There, I said.
-
And I'm not sorry.
-
Not one iota.
-
And you know how much an iota is.
-
Why, I otta...
-
You should see the other guy.
-
Now I'm just spewing random thoughts.
-
But who can tell the difference, really.
-
From what I normally post.
-
But we're close.
-
Oh, so close.
-
Glenn Close.
The relief, it is palpable.
The pablum is palpable.
-
The palpable pablum plotzed.
Or PPP, for short.
I always like a good acronym.
-
BK is spending a night at the opera.
-
Maybe we should post memes with Mimi.
-
If you knew Mimi like I knew Mimi.
-
I've shaved. Will shower in about twenty minutes, then at six I shall be on my way.
-
I have to replace my work computer on Monday, which is going to be a BIG pain in the you-know-what.
Groan. Good luck and vibes you are pleased with your new computer.
Good luck! My work is on a 4 or 5 year replacement cycle. They get replaced whether they really need to be or not.
Ain't nothin' wrong with that!
True.
I shall shortly be on my way to an opera.
It's classier if you say "OH-PER-AAH."
So I hear.
It will be fine. It's just an irritating nuisance.
I feel fortunate to have a job, to be working from home, and that I am given the proper tools.
Finished The Fabelmans tonight. There were some really nice moments. But overall, it wasn't my favorite.
-
Good night, friends.
-
BACK...
From our one and only dress rehearsal, and of course we hadn't even played or sitzed at least a third of the numbers. So it went about as well as it deserved to.
-
Pretty sure there's an original Evita in there.
VELVITA?
-
Now there's the possibility of a few inches of sn+w tomorrow evening, starting at about show time! So watching that will be very interesting as the afternoon progresses. Being a school, which by nature is going to be fairly conservative, weather-wise, tomorrow's show might get cancelled. Which would be fine with me.
And if anyone wonders how this works, the musicians are still paid if it's cancelled. At the regional theeders, that can vary...except when I'm MD'ing because I make payment for commitments a stipulation.
-
Payments for commitments is sort what I used to.
-
I feel fortunate to have a job, to be working from home, and that I am given the proper tools.
You are very fortunate.
DR Singdaw I hope you also enjoy your job.
So, I was just on the Cast Album Collectors group on FB, and there's a discussion about The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (BK made a post).
-
When it was first released, I bought the 3-CD that others were talking about, and wondered what's new at the Screen Archives website (https://www1.screenarchives.com/index.cfm) where I bought it, since I haven't been there since last year.
-
Well, speaking of BK, they now taking preorders for the 2-CD release of sizzling Marco Beltrami sci-fi horror score to The Faculty (https://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/44426/THE-FACULTY-2CD/).
-
I saw the 5,000 Fingers just the other day on TCM.
-
It was very atomic.
-
MR BK must be very deep into La Boheme at this moment.
-
I enjoyed a vodka and cranberry juice so I am not exactly in my right mind.....
-
But that's okay.
-
I have emailed former DR MBARNUM but I have not received a reply as yet.
-
I think I introduced former DR MBARNUM to HHW.....but I am not sure....
-
He was the first to notify me that Classic Images magazine was publishing an Allison Hayes article that consisted most entirely of information featured on my Web Biography of her.
Without credit to my research....except for a "special thanks." The SOBs.
-
He is indeed missed and I hope he stops by at least for a moment.
-
I am watching THIS SPORTING LIFE on TCM which is a very interesting film.
-
DR MBARNUM one of the world’s nicest guys.
Dr. Teeth the Muppet.
House in turmoil report…
-Cabinet guy mis-measured the length of bathroom cabinets, so plumber had to come and re-do some plumbing he just did yesterday.
-Maybe for the best because the plumber pointed out that our water heating tank is like, really at the end of its life.
-Contractor’s van now lives in our driveway, as it is leaking coolant.
-
Home improvement vibes for DR RODZINSKI.
I of course concur with your opinion of DR MBARNUM.
-
He is indeed missed and I hope he stops by at least for a moment.
That would be real nice. :)
