All this talk of taquitos has made me think Mexican food. Not taquitos, but maybe  enchiladas.

And speaking of taquitos, I went back to 7-Eleven and got some more for lunch. ::) They're good and cheap, but I don't think I need to get them again for a while.

Fried corn chip with a little protein in them really isn't on the list of foods for a diabetic to eat, but then neither is diet soda ;)

True, but if I don't live entirely on carbs, I can have some without much trouble...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Back from picking up packages and two Popeye's mild chicken breasts.  They were good and I am full.

I have finished the first 2.5 hours of Die Meistersinger. The rest will have to wait until tomorrow. The music is lovely.

Off to have some Mexican food. Enchiladas sound good right now.

On our walks along the river we often chat with a couple.  We were surprised to see them yesterday knowing they were leaving today for a month of traveling.  They had not begun packing yet when we saw them.  They were rather calm about it.  I would be freaking out.

DR JohnG, Die Meistersinger is my favorite Wagner opera, but that old Nazi sure could have learned to edit, since I think Die Meistersinger could lose an hour.  I will never understand the Wagner cult. Three hours of one his his operas seems a lifetime, but four hopurs of Mozart flies by.  I will never understand that.

I agree. It's my first Wagner opera all the way through in almost 40 years. I suffered through Parsifal back in college. He needed a good editor.

I made a modified Greek salad for lunch tomorrow. I added red and green cabbage and radishes.

Lotta doings going on today. Mom was told that she's not capable of helping Dad anymore, so she was ready to sell the house, as if that would do anything. She hasn't been able to get the house ready to sell for the past four years. I don't know why she'd be able to do it now. Plus, there's a waiting list for every place that might be able to take Dad, which she doesn't realize. Home help, however, might be doable. She just has to bring herself to the point where she can accept that.

Sounds good.

I had some white cheese in brine, as the Greeks call their salad feta. And a can of black olives from Turkey (lifelong enemy of the Greeks, but they don't have to know).

It was time for some of the olives to be harvested. Trees everywhere were covered with so much fruit it was rather difficult to comprehend. Made my poor little tree seem like an underachiever. One tree had olives that were enormous and all were dark black. They looked ready to eat, but I won't get fooled again on that. Ate one olive right from the tree once. Never, ever again.

John, we looked around at places for my dad and they were dreadful and expensive.  We found a home health aide to be the perfect solution.  We started with a service but ended up hiring one of the aides directly.

She was an absolute Godsend.  Dad was able to be at home and passed away in his sleep in his own bed.

The cost was much better than it would have cost to put him in a facility

Are you planning on duplicating the flavor with your own olives?
