I like in THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT, how the guy had his heart broken by Julie London and she keeps appearing to him in ghostly fashion, singing "Cry Me a River".

Also, Charles Pogue, what's this about the upcoming miniseries you wrote?

JRand- Have you ever heard the studio outtake where someone has turned down all of the vocal tracks on "Hey Jude" except for Linday McCartney? Oh, dear, that's good times.

I think Guy Haines should do Ray Peterson's "Tell Laura I Love Her". That would show 'em all!
Certainly not Marilyn Michaels' "Tell Tommy I Miss Him".
(I love "answer" songs)

I was at a Town Meeting tonight, the Tanger Outlet people, have discovered out little hamlet and have decided it is the perfect place to put a 190 store "Outlet Mall", complete with BJ's Wholesale Club and 16 screen , 3000 seat movie theatre., and five  restaurants.

Not to worry tho' during the "off season" (like now)... we shouldn't get more than 8000 cars in on a weekday or 15,000 on the weekend days, maybe double that during the holidays.  Oh! and the main east /west road in town, the one EVERYONE takes to get ANYWHERE in town, they want to make one way, towards their lovely little outlet of course .

The citizens are very unhappy!!! Will that deter the Town Board? No, of course not!!!

Am I bitter? YES!!!

Ah DR VIXMOM....I feel your pain.

We subdivided a large property, put in streets, streetlights, sewer & waterlines, and turn berm on the road....and then the local zoning board decided (after we put up six homes) that no new construction could be done because of the airport and the noise pollution the homes would be subjected to.  Talk about owning a road to nowhere!

Tomovoz, you need this Skeeter Davis LP I found recently called "Here's the Answer". It features original songs by guys Skeeter promptly answers.
"Tell Tommy" is on there.

Also: Jim Reeves does "He'll Have to Stay"
Skeeter responds: "He'll Have to Go"

Floyd Cramer: "Last Date"
Skeet: "My Last Date (With You)" Great how she answers an instrumental!

Hank Locklin: "Please Help Me I'm Falling"
Skeet: "I Can't Help You, I'm Falling Too"

Eddy Arnold: "I Really Don't Want To Know"
Skeet: "I Really Want You To Know"

I have had a couple of LPs melt in the trunk, but I learned my lesson.

I don't listen to the iPod in the Jacuzzi.  I like to think and/or talk on the phone.

No, I haven't even printed out the song yet, jrand, but I will.

DR LAURA is that an Affack duck on your avatar?

I don't know from Aflack. This is an Indian runner duck I found in a local park who posed for a photo one day.

Haven't printed it out yet?  Okay, then no news is good news.

Reminds me of a Bette Davis story.  Bette was out on the road with a play in late 1957.  A note came back saying that Warner Bros was doing "The Helen Morgan Story" and would Bette be interested in playing the mother in the film?  Bette thought it was a bit strange, since she had left WB under less than ideal circumstances, but she thought she would take the bait.  She sent a telegram to Jack Warner:  "Interested in me for role of mother Helen Morgan Story?"

Jack Warner wired back:  "No Bette.  We never even thought of you. Jack Warner"

Oh my! Butyou were on the other side, you were the builder?  We know these guys have zero chance of being turned down.  And the head of teh company sat in the back and had his snotnosed little 25 year old son run the meeting.  He kept telling
us that they were doing this for the betterment of Deer Park, said if they didn't have this we would have to deal with a office complex.  So I stood up and said we would welcome an office complex, the omnly traffic generated wouuld be the employees Mon - Fri, they would bring living wage jobs to the town,  there wouldn't be night or weekend traffic and we wouldn't have packs of teenagers hanging around

What they are bring us are part time, miniumum wage jobs , heavy traffic when we are home from our jobs and the kids are home from school, and an attractive nuisence for those with too much time on their hands ....

This kid (who I have shoes older than) told me that perhaps I wasn't very well aquainted with the town, and that a office building would generate more traffic.  I advised HIM that I had lived in this town since 1966, and that there used to be a Aerospace company employing 7500 peoeple on the exact site he wants to build on  and I am extremely well aquainted  with the type of traffic it generated.

I got applause and his daddy came up to take over the presentation

daddy gave us a lecture about how we should be "grateful" for their interest in the property and said (not in so many words,of course) that  if we didn't watchput , they would just raze the current buildig there, and have their property taxes reduced to vacant land rates and then we'd be begging him to build

How to win friends and influence people huh?
