For the last hour Keith has been having a grand time at http://earth.google.com .  Using the satellite images he has found our house, town, Bucharest and many more.  It really is cool.  He can even tip the globe for a better picture.

Yes, thanks, DRMATTH, I tried a few CD's and DVD's.  Not sure what I have done OR what it is wrong....

BUT my home theater system is a handy dandy Emerson that I paid $149.00 for about 9 years ago, so perhaps it should be replaced!

Good Evening, once again.

I've done some unpacking, and I'll take care of the rest of it in the morning and/or over the next couple of days.  I just ended up chatting with one of my roomies for a while, catching up.  She's in those readings of Noel Coward plays that the Pearl Theatre Company is doing, and I may go ahead and try to catch the 7:00 show tomorrow night if time permits.  *DR elmore - I got your e-mail - Thank you!

Right now, I'm feeling pretty run down.  I'm running on about four hours of sleep and few short naps in the car on the ride back down to the city.  -And, apparently, DR Rodzinski took a picture of me in my slumber.  Hmm...

In short:

The Blue Benn Diner - Great(!) food.  Scary/bad waitress.
The Chocolate Barn - Fudge, chocolates, maple candy - who could ask for anything more?
The Howard Art Museum - Well, more like a shack.  -Let's just say that if I had started hearing banjos being played... ;)
The Store at Five Corners - Well, the Petting Zoo behind the Store at Five Corners.  DR TPunk almost found a new pal for Kilbot and Walty. :)
A daredevil motorcyclist... with very nice eyes.  -At least DR Rodzinski said they were nice.  :P
Casa Maya - Very good Mexican food right off of Route 9 in Cold Spring.

Pictures to follow in the following days.

But, for now, I think I'm going to head to bed...  In a bit...

DR Jrand - Glad that Pippin has left the building - and sold out too.

As for your surround sound system issues...  Sounds like you blew a fuse to me.  However, since it's nine years old... and you have a birthday coming up in a few days...  I'd say hie thee to Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., and get yourself a birthday gift!

DR Ginny - One of the things I truly miss about the "old" downtown Richmond are the Tea Rooms that were a part of the Miller & Rhoads and Thalhimer's department stores.  Good food, a friendly atmosphere, and just such a sense of tradition and history.  Unfortunately, once both stores closed up shop, so did the tea rooms - and one of the buildings eventually had a date with a wrecking ball.  Although, for a year or two after Miller & Rhoads closed up shop, they would still open up the room for pictures with Santa - a true Richmond tradition.

DR MBarnum - Does this mean you would like me to send more pics of our book writer, Josh?  And I may even have some pics of some of the other people at the theatre festival you might be interested in.

Unfortunately, Pogue won't be able to delight you with his phrase, what with this being a family site and all.

Why?  Is he flying down to Brazil?  Where his plane will most likely need to use a landing strip once it approaches the airport?

OH! OH! OH!

DR TPunk had a wonderful idea...  For all those Hainsies/Kimlets in the New York City area...

Tomorrow night.  Monday.  Splash Bar NY in Chelsea.  Musical Mondays.  The evening starts at 8:00, but we probably won't gather until around 9:00.  More details to follow.

Plus, I was a little disgusted when CBS had the live feeds down for so long. That's the part that is fun to watch.

If I were paying for the live fees, I'd definitely ask for my money back. You're paying for the privilege of seeing these events in real time. For CBS to pick and choose what you're paying for IN ADVANCE is unfair and absurd.

I'm sure DR Jose is glad to be home. I love NYC, but I was glad to get back to the familiar and comfortable, too. I guess that's the way of the world!  :)

I suspect you have blown or fried a circuit or two inside. Receivers are very reasonably priced now, and I'll bet a lot more powerful than the one you're having trouble with.

Receivers now have a Dolby Prologic IIx channel that turns stereo CDs into surround sound without your having to do anything but turn on the unit.

And you can keep the speakers you've got; just hook the wires and cables into the new receiver.

Well, BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES III finally made an appearance on one of our PBS stations. I looked at one "act" until the pledge break came on, and then I flipped it off. The DVR is getting it so I can skip through those lengthy breaks tomorrow when I watch the whole thing.

HOUSE OF BAMBOO was pretty routine, I thought. The FMC print looked very good, but it was a pretty standard undercover caper movie with the action rooted in a different setting. That didn't really make the sotry that much different, though.

I was surprised it was in Cinemascope, but I should have known a Fox movie made in 1955 would HAVE to be in Cinemascope.

:)

Just remember the comfortable shoes, the umbrella (so it won't rain), and the pants with the elastic waistband.

;)

*Actually...  Well, there will be food involved throughout the tour, but you don't have to eat everything at every place we stop at.  And you only need to have one sample at Fat Witch Brownies.

SIX FEET UNDER was the cry fest I knew it would be. There were certainly some surprises and momentous acting. I don't know if Frances Conroy will win the Emmy this year (I suspect Glenn CLose is going to win it for THE SHIELD). but this finale episode should be her Emmy submission episode for next year. She really runs the widest possible range of emotions, and it's one of the great performances in series TV history, I think.

Sounds like we had similar weekends.  Did you also have maple sugar candy, chocolate fudge with walnuts, penuche, conchinita pibil, chicken mole enchiladas, tacos al carbon, gingerbread pancakes(!) with lots of syrup, etc., etc., etc.?

 :P

And, yes, I am considering fasting again this week for a day or two.

I had avoided HBO's two part tribute to SIX FEET UNDER all week fearful that it would give away some surprises from the final episode. They showed it again tonight before the final episode, and I finally did watch both parts. It doesn't give away anything, so feel free to watch it knowing no secrets will be given away from the final episode.

(It does give away a lot from the final season, though, so you DO have to be careful not to watch it TOO early!)

It was nice to see Jerry Orbach's "She Likes Basketball," but I was hoping they'd let it run so we'd get to see "Turkey Lurky Time," too, but no such luck.
