And sometimes the squeeky wheel just squeeks.

Or, as I used to say to my DP Joe when he was complaining about a job he had recently taken--"The wheel that squeeks the loudest gets... replaced."

My Report on the B/K-less Hainesy/Kimlet gathering of 5 October 2005, Part Deux:

After I had finished chatting and laughing and crying with my friend Michael about Old times and Lehman Engel and other departed friends, I tried Jose's cell number to find out where the Magical Mystery Tour had got itself to, but he didn't pick up  (oh my, have I become a Nyorker!  I used to find "pick up" for "answer" the phone a peculiar expression).

But it was about 15:00, and according to the schedule they should all be somewhere in Chelsea.  Now how hard could it be to find them, I ask you?  So I hopped on the Way of Sub at 72nd and hied me to Chelsea.

I will pause briefly so you may admire a picture of my old friend Michael at the piano playing "Fly to Carracas".  Please to excuse the quality of photos from my credit-card digital camera.  It liketh not low light.

OH!  And what size and color turban would you like?

;D

Why, Jose - I don't know whatever you're talking about!

I would like an appropriate turban:

XXXLARGE for my ego, in flaming levender, please

WFO, Michael seems to have aged  very well.  I remember him as a very nice and handsome man.

I also remember the wonderful banana pancakes at the place he took us to after he kindly invited us to stay for the night....

My Report on the B/K-less Hainesy/Kimlet gathering of 5 October 2005, Part Trois:

Well, Chelsea is a little bigger than that, you know.  So, having no cell phone, I decided to search out a working pay phone--an increasingly rare item in this day of satelite communications.

Imagine my surprise to discover that New York City appears to have operational pay phones on almost every corner, as in the days of yore.  And imagine my further surprise to find that for the pris fixe of 25¢ you may call anywhere in the U. S. for one minute!  Why, they charge 50¢ for a local call out on the Isle of Long.

First, I tried vixmom's phone, but she was evidently inside somewhere where she couldn't get reception.  Finally, at the corner of 15th Street and 7th Av, I talked to Jose, who told me to head over to the Chelsea Market at 14th and 9th.  Wrong!  It was 15th and 9th.

But I did manage to enter the bulding, and seeing no H/Ks, I walked on until I was mugged from behind and almost knocked over by the vixter.  She claimed her mother put her up to it!

So here I joined the Merry Band of Jose, MBarnum, Danise, uh,  well, I'm not going  to list everyone again and again, but at this point I made some new face-to-face acquaintances, renewed some old ones, and began "We're walking, we're walking, we're walking..." along with all the early risers.

-And they even have custom-sized ones now!  -Well, at least 51 different sizes.  And they even have a handy-dandy sizing chart.  How convenient.

Double Spoo!  That's not the back of Jose's head.  It's the back of MBarnum's head.

More photos of backs of heads to follow.

I didn't remember that I actually set the DVR to record JOEY last night even though I had pretty much given up on the show.

Surprise! It was one of the funniest episodes JOEY has had. That might not be saying much given the dismal track record of the writing, but it really did make me laugh out loud several times.

Thanks for your comments, JRand55.  I appreciate your understanding my side of things.

I really don't care what reasons Amazon.com might offer up....there can be no acceptable "excuse" for not shipping in a timely manner the item which is readily available and which folks ordering yesterday could get by today.

None.

Zip.

Nada.

WILL & GRACE had a few funny moments last night, too, but my favorite moment was when Will, taking stock of his life, admitted that he had a great boy friend and a perfect job and threw them away.

Exactly what I was screaming from the rooftops last season! Took him an entire 6 months to see the light! Sheesh!

I saved NIGHT STALKER to watch tonight.

Instead, I spent the last two hours with THE VIPs. I had forgotten that Terrence Rattigan wrote the screenplay and was astonished when his name popped up in the credits.

Yes, I can see why Margaret Rutherford won the Oscar for her scene stealing performance. And Rod Taylor, I suppose using his own natural Australian accent, has never been sexier. Some nice moments with Maggie Smith, too.

Liz is obviously putting on some weight by this time in her career, but Richard Burton has tousled hair, expensive suits, great lighting and make-up, and thus never looked more glamorous in a movie.

A fun two hour popcorn movie.
