DR JMK: More seriously, is Gabe's elbow to be trapped in the cast as well as his arm? If so, the time to watch out is when the cast comes off!
I remember all too well when the cast was taken off of my broken (impacted) shoulder. Not only had the cast extended down half of my torso, it also wrapped up my arm, with a bend at the elbow and a cross-brace from about chest-level up to my elbow, keeping it stuck out even with my shoulder.
Not only was this arrangement hell to sleep in, there were real problems when the cast came off. The muscles had atrophied enough that even lowering my arm a fraction of an inch hurt more than when the break took place. Thankfully, I was recouperating at my parent's home, so Dad was able to help me through the worst of it. We ended up using the cast as a brace while the arm was slowly lowered back down to normal. We've got a pic of me around somewhere; I'll have to get der Brucer to scan it and post.
Again, mucho vibes of goodness being sent to Gabe from our house.
