. . .and on the TOD:
I received a lovely cd in the mail today.  VOICE by Alison Moyet, produced by Anne (THE FULL MONTY) Dudley.  On this cd, the heavenly Ms. Moyet performs standards and art songs!  Of greatest interest to me, the reason I bought the cd, is Ms. Moyet's recording of Jacques Brel's la chanson des vieux amants which she does completely en francais.

Other songs are The windmills of your mind, the man i love, almost blue, je crois entendre encore, what are you doing the rest of your life?, god give me strength, the wraggle taggle gypsies-o!, dido's lament:  when i am laid in earth, cry me a river and bye bye blackbird. (since the cd doesn't use caps, neither did i.)

Interesting assortment of songs there, td.  I've always been rather fond of What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life? (with or without caps)

Good Afternoon!

Four loads of laundry.  The kitchen - cabinets, fridge and floors!  The living room, and the area rugs.

Whew!

-Actually, it felt good to get some cleaning done.  Part of it was out of "guilt" since I've been away for the weeks that I was scheduled to clean.  The "head roomie", Jim, posts a schedule on the fridge: floors, kitchen, bathroom.  Very organized.  And part of it was just because I just started finding more things to clean.  :)

Heck, I even hosed down the back patio!

I still have two more loads of laundry to do.  It is nice having a W/D in the apartment, but it's one of those stackable deals where you can only wash or dry, rather than wash and dry at the same time.  So, each load takes about an hour and fifteen to an hour and a half depending on how long things take to dry.

And then once I'm done with my laundry, I can pack up my carry-on (again) in preparation for my jaunt to Charlotte.

Although, I think I'm gonna go for a brief walk when the next load of laundry is drying just to stretch my legs and get out of the apartment for a bit.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Hmm... I guess I am becoming a New Yorker.

Not quite yet.  ;)

The Number One (1) train is at 79th and Broadway and then goes up to 86th and Broadway. No dead stations in between, like the old 91st Street station on Broadway which was around as late as the early 1940s. They closed it when they expanded the 96th Station. If you're passing uptown or downtown between 96th Street and 86th Street, especially if you're on the local train, look out the window and you can see what's left of the station. There is a platform and the walls are covered in graffitti. The sidewalks up above bear no trace of a long abandonded subway entrance. And that, my friends, is your New York History Moment for today.

I stand corrected and clarified.

;)

And thank you for filling me in on the closed 91st Street station.  I have noticed all that graffiti down there, and I've been wondering just how that much of it could have gotten down there with trains running by on a regular basis.

Last night I said I needed to back to Central Park and take a picture of the skyline over the lake. Well, I'll have that opportunity tonight because (::drumroll::) my coworker, Sal, just called and said he's got an extra ticket for tonight's performance of TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, so I get to see it again! Huzzah!

I'm gonna go home to Queens after work and grab my camera and then meet them at the Delacorte. Good times...

No worries...  I'm in cleaning mode, and as much as I'd like to head out tonight, I do need to rest up a bit before flying down to Charlotte tomorrow morning.  And with about 200 auditionees to play for on Sunday...

Thanks for thinking of me.

BK - My "get" post was posted before I headed over to the "Rewind" site...

And after reading the excerpt, I have to say I did get it.  And had a few "inside joke" giggles, is that makes sense.

And I'm not being disingenuous.

And once I have a few more "discretionary funds" at my disposal, I shall catch up on my CD and book buying.  -New York has been very good to me over the past couple of weeks, but everyone wants to be invoiced now.   And as you mentioned in regards to your payments, it's amazing how fast people want the invoices and products compared to how slow they reimburse you.

It's been a long day (a HOW TO SUCCEED reference), and it's far from over. Maybe have company tonight myself and in any event I have some rehearsing to do. More explaining about that later.

I can't talk about last night.  It was the WORST experience I have ever had onstage....and I have been in some bad shows.

I am mortified and homogenized and citified and modernized.  And I have to do it again tonight.  I just wish I could apologize to the audience and tell them "sorry."

Fingers crossed that he looks at his script today.

I just can't talk about it.

I'm so very sorry, DR JRand. If you've been in theater for any length of time, you've had at least one of those experiences. For me it was DAMN YANKEES, a vanity production from the word "go," and one of the most painful experiences I've ever been associated with with untalented and miscast leads and a production that screamed AMATEUR with a capital "A."

I wanted to CRAWL off the stage every night after the overture.

Governor's Office Gives Out Phone Sex Number

Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher (R) issued a press release calling on faith-based organizations to partner with state agencies to assist hurricane evacuees in Kentucky.

Unfortunately, the Bluegrass Report notes "one of the phone numbers listed for the Red Cross (ending in 4637) is actually for a phone sex service."

Very sorry to read of Stuart's decision to leave. I must not have been paying attention because I'm clueless myself as to the problem. I would certainly wish that whatever the problem is could get straightened out since he's such a positive force on this forum.

DR Jose,
I was just going through my New Orleans photos with my friend Paul, who lived in the French Quarter for about 9 years. When I got to the photo that I posted of Morning in the Quarter, or whatever I called it, Paul said  "Those are the apartments where the vampire Lestat lived!"
