Heck, at my weight, I'm pretty sure I could lose ten pounds by fasting for two days.  Is the sparkling prize worth it?  :)

I refuse to use a scale.  I go by whether or not my clothes are fitting better.  That's more of an incentive than a scale!

Not sure if this is everywhere. But here buses must stop at railroad crossings even if no train ever goes there!

Back from lunch.

That "clay pot" special is wonderful.

I will tire of it one day, I'm sure.  But not for the time being.

What a shame about THE QUIET MAN looking less than wonderful. There should be no reason it doesn't look as good as other color movies from the same period. It was done in Technicolor, not that garish Republic Trucolor, so there's no reason it shouldn't look as good as SINGIN' IN THE RAIN or LOVELY TO LOOK AT from the same year.

Had a great Agatha Christie afternoon. Started off with MURDER AT THE GALLOP, and it looked as pristine as MURDER MOST FOUL. And with Robert Morley and Flora Robson in the cast, you just can't go wrong.

Obviously Margaret Rutherford didn't ride horses since the stunt double is very, very obvious in the few shots where Miss Marple is supposed to be horseback riding.

I am EXACTLY the same way. I tell by how easy it is to hook the last loop on my belt. If I get to it easily without sucking in my stomach, my weight is exactly where it should be. If it's an effort to get there or if I have to use the second to last notch in the belt, I've put on weight. I've been on that last notch for a month and a half now, and I'm very happy with my current weight.

Then I watched TEN LITTLE INDIANS. I doesn't look nearly as good as the Marple films, but it's OK. There were some light scratches at the start and some spotting and deeper scratches later on and the contrast wasn't as good as it should have been. Still, it's OK. Glad to have it in an enhanced transfer. They've all taken their places proudly on the Agatha Christie shelf.

Next put in a CSI episode from Season 2 just to bring me up to 4 p.m. Didn't get to watch but about 15 minutes of it due to a phone call from dear friend Jeff who was bored at work.

Well, I know you and several others here must be giddy with anticipation! I never imagined this would see the light of day, and I'm so very glad it has.

Now, why won't Warners get off their tails and release the DVD!

Well...I was excited by it.  There's been quite a furor of anticipation/speculation and -- true to form -- pronouncements against it in the "what will it be" discussion thread at the Film Score Monthly Messageboard.  "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" was the hands-down best guess, but many others pooh-poohed it as nonsense, a bad decision, financial suicide, etc., etc.

I hope it does well so that more musicals might get similar treatment.

I know I'm extremely impressed with what's on this set...overwhelmed, actually.

Of course, BK has known for some time this was in the works...and has probably heard most all of it already (if he doesn't already have a copy).

eBay has a slew of "Song of the South" DVD's for auction.  I just purchased one (using the "Buy it Now" thing)  It's sad that Disney won't re-release it - legally that is.

For those who enjoy this sort of thing, I wanted to share with you the photo I won on eBay. Here are Judy Garland, Roger Edens and Georgie Stoll (conductor, in the background) going over music for "Presenting Lily Mars":

I got one a couple of years ago from www.efilmic.com, but you had to have a specific link, you couldn't (and still can't) find it by doing a search on the site.  I no longer have that specific link, though. :-\ The copy that I got looks darn good enough for me. :)

DR RLP - thanks for the Garland-Edens-Stoll photo AND for the CHIPS link. I will be ordering it as well....

As for the paper that MR BK is doing for DR TPUNK....please remember that the correct spelling is Faery Dust!

I stopped at the Salvation Army store on the way home and I am now the proud owner of my own Marcy & Little Marcy LP, The Serendipity Singers, the Complete Musical Play London Cast of MAN OF LA MANCHA 2-LP's, and a record cover that I will be scanning a bit later!
