I just (legally) downloaded Cy Coleman Presents Barnum by The Cy Coleman Trio (http://www.emusic.com/album/-Barnum-MP3-Download/11367686.html) from emusic.com. This is a fun album. :DI have a copy of that on vinyl and remember enjoying it quite a lot.
Weren't all those alternate takes on the last DVD? I'm pretty sure they were.
DR Druxy - hope your doctor visit goes smoothly!
And the word of the day is: CHATELAINE!
Good news about Kritzerland at the Gardenia.
A lot of DR JOSE's posts and photos on Facebook right now are from some portable device.....not sure if that has anything to do with his vacancy of HHW.....and I don't know when he will return to NYC.
I too enjoy the alternate takes of The Man That Got Away......which I do not think is grammatically correct....it should be The Man Who Got Away....but that is neither here nor there.
LOTS of posts yesterday!!!
I first heard the word chatalaine when I directed MAN OF LA MANCHA last summer.

They removed the bandage, but they said I have to keep a very low cardio until Monday.
Not a problem. since I'll be spending the next few days correcting my galley proofs.

BK,
I tend to agree with you on A STAR IS BORN.
I wish that they'd either released the original theatrical version on a separate disc OR included the restored music/production stills material as an extra.
It's rather disconcerting the way it is now.

I'd rather be "momentarily" disconcerted for a short sequence than miss out on all the glorious material that was missing from that old hack-job release we were treated to on TV all those years ago.
But, maybe that's just me.
Don't forget that a lot of the "performances" of Mason and Garland was also missing. The entire sequence in the recording studio in which their private conversation was recorded, and then played back, was out of the film, as was most of "Lose That Long Face".
Those sequences alone are astonishing tour-de-forces.
DR Dan (The Man): I agree that it's disconcerting to see those stills with the soundtrack overlay, but what they bring to the story, I think, made their inclusion essential. This sequence showed what happened the next day after Norman convinced Esther to quite the band...and it showed what efforts Norman went to in getting the studio to find her. The studio indifference was a good insight into Norman's decline in importance to the studio, as well. Norman's own efforts to find Esther were wonderful to finally "hear"...and that shot of them stopping so that she could go barf gave us an establishing shot of time and place...and a look at what that part of Los Angeles looked like in those days. Love the neon on the buildings lining the road....and the oil drilling!
I alos love, love, love that shot of an LA street at Christmas time.
The BD makes it more startlingly clear than ever before what Cukor and Ray Leavitt were after in terms of filling the CinemaScope screen...wonderful touches of lighted figures on one side...and then something softly lit on the other side of the room...a window...or a curtain blowing in the breeze. It's a film of amazing creativity in approaching the "new widescreen process" that everyone was experimenting with.
One thing that has always bothered me....all the red in the Swanee number. Everything in varying degrees of deep red/rust.

Most esteemed bk - will you be singing at the sing-along "Grease"? If so, what parts will you really want to sing?
Postage Strip....wasn't that one of Gypsy Rose Lee's old routines?

The kittens all come to me now to be fed. They are only allowed to eat while I am holding them. It sounds mean, but hunger will make them willing to come to me; otherwise, they would hide and never become adoptable.

HWHC was right next to me on the way to work....I passed him and he turned two blocks sooner than he needed to....
I'm up again - feeling better and hoping this thing came and went quickly.

Bruce, I'm very disappointed I will not be starting your book today as I had planned. I can't hold it with only my right hand. I would prefer not to feel so lousy when I'm reading it anyway.
DR Jane - you're the third person I know who has a cold. Hope you feel better soon!

Won't Keith read it aloud to you?
Team CLOSER are struggling with spots next door that I could have done in an hour. Really crazy not to be using a system when all the many hours of media are already in here and organized. And I'm done for my session for the day. Buh-bye. In an hour I get to go to a get-together to celebrate all the series launches, but as far as I know, I'm the only one not going forward since the other editors who were dropped from series are in-house and will be put on other things. It may be uncomfortable but I really want to leave the door open for future work so it seems like a good idea. Right now...

OH MY GOSH! Did you all hear about my new i-phone?
RLP, that's all I was saying - a bonus, for history's sake. It would be like me putting out the director's version of The Creature Wasn't Nice - a completely different film in many ways from the hack job that is Spaceship/Naked Space - but I wouldn't put the director's version out without including the hack job, too, because that's the film people really know and despite it being lousy, some people grew up with it and love it. I don't prefer the shorter version of A Star Is Born, but it would just be nice to have it as an extra, just to watch it again.
Isn't air conditioning one of the best inventions ever?! It's 93 here right now-I think it was higher earlier. Ugh!
Wednesday morning greetings! Just saw DS Rob off to paramedic school and now I'm gearing up for grocery shopping and food prep for tomorrow evening at the synod. I'm making a veggie tray with dill dip, cocktail weenies in chili sauce, and a hot cheese spread with dried beef and green peppers.

A Portable Vice - where can I get one of those ;D
I have been out all day while DR Sandra has been taking care of kittens. They are all running around the room playing at the moment. No one is hiding under the leopard-spotted fainting couch, which makes me very happy. I think they were turned in to the pound about ten days ago and were kept in a cage in the foster coordinator's office, and then caged here. I don't think they have had much opportunity to run and play. They are having a GRAND time!

I will sit there like so much fish. Barry needed a date for the screening and I'm it.
I just canceled PT for tomorrow :(

Hey BK, if you need help putting together the Gardenia shows, how about that helper girl you had working for you?
Sooo.... it's a walkway.
Did I miss the photographs of the walkway/driveway?
Here are four of them. I couldn't get them all together. Singdaw was sleeping.

Sooo very cute, especially Barnum. :)
Well, I broke down and turned on the air conditioner. I'm sitting in the bedroom listening to Mike Harding on BBC Radio Two. It's a folk, roots and acousting music show. I just finished darning two socks (yes, people still do that). I was going to iron a shirt but decided against it since dripping sweat on a clean shirt doesn't do much good for the shirt.
Yes, Kevin, AC is a wonderful invention!!! It's terribly hot here (I did exercise but only briefly) and it's supposed to be worse tomorrow. I'm glad I have an air conditioned office.
Somebody else mentioned one that looks like Yoda. Are you talking about the black and white one?
One of the tabby-headed kittens is Edisaurus and the other is Sam.

Real estate vibes, DR Elmore! Have you planted a St. Joseph statuette yet? It's said to sell property quicker.
Or get somebody to bury one for him. Or perhaps it's Lady Macbeth who needs a burial.Real estate vibes, DR Elmore! Have you planted a St. Joseph statuette yet? It's said to sell property quicker.
But he would have to go to Ohio to bury it.

That requires a stake through the heart (if she had one).

Such lovely markings on all the kitties!
DR CILLA LIZ's continuing story of HWHC is most amusing. Men are so predictable.
Did anyone feel the earthquke in Canada?
It's supposed to be unpleasant today with very hot and humid weather. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse with predictions of record temperatures. Of course, we have nothing on Phoenix with temperatures over 100. We will just hit the very high 90s with extreme humidity.
our driveway is finished. we can walk but not drive on it.
Oh, boy. I woke up with terrible cramping - I'm a bit better at the moment, but send all excellent vibes and xylophones that this isn't another case of food poisoning - I did have mushrooms last night, which I believe was the cause of the last food poisoning I had a couple of months ago. Or maybe the drumettes, which are very spicy, had a little too much spice. Hoping it's the latter and that this will subside shortly.
DRs, can I please ask you again for more real estate vibes toward selling this damned property in Ohio? I hate to keep bugging Randy about it, and Macbeth and Lady M, as they have done since Feb 2007, will do nothing, although they'll both get burns on their wrists reaching for the check from the buyer as son as it's signed.
I'm in Manhattan so I can do nothing but send property-will-sell vibes and ask you to do the same!
Where is George this evening?
That means I need to pump out at least 2 a day, preferably 3, between tomorrow and July 1.
