Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a distinctly burnt umber feeling, and now it is time for you to post until the burnt umber cows come home.

While most of the cast won their roles in the play through the extensive audition process, Marilyn made the TEAM VIA her AMATIVE skills on the casting couch.

Favorite French songs - almost the entirety of Irma La Douce with that marvelous Margueritte Monnot music, especially Our Language Of Love.  Quite a few Jacques Brel songs.  And, of course, I do love Ravel, Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honneger and the rest of Les Group des Six, Jean Michel Damase.  I love the French singer Mirielle Matthieu.

Yes, bk, in addressing your comments to DR Ron Pulliam last night:

HD-DVD and Blu-ray are inherently sharper DVD formats. Their resolution is 2 1/2 times that of standard DVDs - 480 scan lines of resolution for DVD versus 1,080 scan lines for high definition discs. Mastered properly, the high definition DVDs feature a depth of focus, color saturation, and level of detail that DVD can't hope to match.

That's not to say that DVDs can't look startlingly good when they're done right. But unless somone in the mastering process screws up royally or has limited quality materials to work with, the HD discs are always going to be steps up in quality to their DVD counterparts.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Rameau: Gavotte et Cinq Doubles

Debussy: "La plue que lente", "Images", the Preludes, the Etudes (and the rest of the piano music) and almost all of the mélodies

Fauré: "Cantique de Jean Racine", the Violin Sonata, the two Piano Quartets, and almost all of the mélodies especially "Notre amour", "Les rose d'Ispahan", "Les Berceaux", "La Bonne Chanson", and those amazing duets: "Puisqu'ici-bas", "Tarantelle" and "Pleurs d'or"

Poulenc: "Ç" - a truly haunting song, the instrumental Sonates especially the ones for flute and oboe, the Concerto for Two Pianos

Milhaud: "Scaramouche" for two pianos - So much fun to play!

Saint-Saens: "Carnivale des Animaux", and some of his mélodies are also quite beautiful.

Ravel: "Don Quichotte á Dulcinée", both Piano Concertos, "Miroirs"

Other art-song composers/specialists: Hahn, Duparc, Bachelet, Satie, etc., etc., etc.

As for more "modern" French composers, well...

For some unknown reason, one of my French teachers in high school would play a recording of Johnny Holliday singing "Big Bijoux" (sp?).  Alas, I think the tackiness of that recording sort of spoiled my further appreciation of French pop music. :-\

My friend, Mike, just called... Their bus did get in a little later than scheduled, so they just headed up to MoMA, and will check their bags there while they are there.  He'll check back in with me this afternoon.  -He was going to call earlier, but since he knows I don't normally keep early morning hours, he refrained from calling until a more "civilized" hour.  -Which is OK - it's been kind of nice being up early here in the apartment while everyone else is asleep - nice and quiet.

Good morning, all! Another night of weird dreams: I remember a stalled car on the side of the road, an old small house in Oxford Ohio in which I was staying with several roommates and several ghosts, a hallway that wasn't always there, a trip to a mall by train, but nothing ties together.

Questions:

Do you know this house?  Have you ever been there?
These ghosts...are they stranger ghosts or ghosts of people you once knew/loved.

The hallway "that wasn't always there"...VERY interesting.  Are you imposing a hallway you always thought SHOULD have been there...or is it more a dramatic device your subconscious installed?

The trip to a mall by train....regular above-ground "traditional" train?  More modern (i.e., fast rail)?

I think dreams are fascinating.

I envy you that one!

I slept very, very , very well last night.

IT was night two of sleeping in an air-conditioned bedroom.

For all unfamiliar with the Bay Area of California, "central air" is not a "usual" feature of homes.  The "marine layer" is nature's air conditioning and is prevalent throughout the year.   Yes, we have hot days....hot weeks, even....but never for extended durations.  Folks are generally jiggy with waiting the heat out because the cool always returns.

That said, there are occasions when A/C is a necessity.

I live in a condo that has windows/balcony on the west side of the building...on the top floor....and my unit gets the full brunt of the sun until sunset.  When the marine layer rolls in, normally in the afternoons, it blocks the sun during the course of the afternoon when my unit would "super heat."

When a high pressure system prevents the marine layer from penetrating inland, I get that "super heat".  The only times that are bearable is when I'm getting an onshore breeze.  I can then open my front door and get a cross-current in effect, drawing out the warm air and replacing it with cool.

When offshore winds are the norm, we get heated wind off the valley/deserts....and THAT's when I need my A/C.

I have a window unit in the living room.  And about six weeks ago, I invested in a portable unit for my bedroom (it vents out the window).  I used it two days a month ago.  And I've used it this week.  The past two nights, I left it running all night.

And believe me, the difference between a cool room and a heated, oxygen-deprived room is STAGGERING.

(And you could only read about such things here on HainesHisWay.com without getting a sales pitch).

TOD: Ravel & Debussy.  Pretty much anything by them..  Other than that, I don't listen to French songs.

Well, I'm disappointed.  I went to my history on the computer as I always do and pulled up this site on it, as I do every morning and started reading BK's notes and there he is talking about being halfway through a new Kritzer novel that will be very long.  I 'm thinking, "Oh, joy! A new Kritzer novel!  Sending young Kritzer off to college.  What fun!"  Then I realized I was reading notes from 2003 from the Archive that I had pulled up last night when I was doing a search on myself for something.

Now I'm crushed.  But College Kritzer.  Think about it, BK!

Today after work I'm heading down to J&R to purchase a pair of mid-priced binoculars for a friend's 50th birthday gift. He lost the binocs he usually uses (they are for theatre viewing when we are in the cheap seats) and he hinted he could use a new pair. Ask and ye shall receive (within reason that is).

I saw Old Acquaintance last night. It's a 1940 play by John Van Druten. They made it into a movie in 1943 starring Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins.

The show last night was pleasant. A standard 1940s Broadway play with three acts each about a half hour. The situations were a bit out of the ordinary for the time. One woman is a divorced single mother raising her daughter and being very successful. The other has had more than one affair and the writing is quite open about the fact that the affairs involved sexual relations. I've never seen the movie but I'm sure Mr. Hays made them change that part of the play. It was fun to see Harriet Harris on stage chewing the scenery. While I enjoyed myself I don't think the show will do much beyond it's limited Roundabout run. It was perfectly pleasant but nothing more. I don't think it's selling well either since it's on the half-price booth and TDF every day. Oh, well. A slow start to the new theatrical season.

Why, DR RON, didn't know you were interested in dreams. I think of that as JRAND's territory. I don't know much about dream analysis, but welcome hearing yours--as well as JRAND's.

Good morning, HHW!

I just dropped in for a moment, then got engrossed--as usual.

TOD:
I adore the soundtrack to THE CHORUS by Bruno Coulais. Enjoyed the film, but love, love, love the music.

I also enjoy the music of Saint-Saens, Ravel (other pieces more than the Bolero), and Faure. I recently heard a couple pieces by Francois Dompierre, who I believe is actually French-Canadian. I related instantly to his work.

There are others, but my brain isn't functioning well enough right now to recall them.

Much to do. Must go. Will be interested to hear the rest of today's TOD.

DR MICHAEL SHAYNE, do you know the work of Dompierre?

DR Matthew - I know what you mean about trying to "play" mutli-piano pieces on one piano... Or something like that.  And to tie it in to today's Topic...

I remember playing Saint-Saens "Variation on a Theme of Beethoven" in college with a studio-mate.  There are a couple of variations where it's a call and answer between the two pianos/players, and practicing those sections "solo" was always kind of tricky.  It was always much easier with the other piano/player to play off of.

The princess wakes me up for her treat, a bit of canned food that she sometimes doesn't even eat. She does this, I think to garner favor from the Queen, who wouldn't lower herself to actually ask for anything. Actually, DR Jose, I'm recording each part into a 4 track mini disc player.  Keeping it in time with each track has proven to be a challenge.  Time to drag out the metronome and see if that helps.

Yes, of course, Michel Legrand, how could I forget him?  How many of you know his sister Christiane was one of the Swingle Singers?  (Probably all of you, you know it alls  ;)  ).  For those who love Michel & Brasilian music (a sublime combination), there are several treasures to be had:  Michel's tribute to the great Brasilian pianist Luiz Eca, a wonderful duet album with Michel and Paulo Castro-Neves, and Christiane's somewhat less wonderful, but still enjoyable, album of Brasilian tunes sung in French.

Hart Was Doyenne of the Arts and Showbiz (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/13/arts/13hart.html?_r=1&ref=theater&oref=slogin)

Quote

David Lewis, Miss Carlisle’s longtime piano accompanist, played Stephen Sondheim’s “Old Friends” — one of the first songs she and Mr. Lewis learned together — and Gershwin’s “The Man I Love.”

The reason for that one, Mr. Lewis explained, was something she had told him once: “When I die and there’s a memorial service,” he recalled her saying, “I want you to go to the piano and play ‘The Man I Love’ in my key. If I don’t come out on that stage, then you’ll know I’m gone.”

I'm listening to David Shire's gorgeous score to Old Boyfriends.  When I attended the first reading of what became Take Flight, I was sitting in the third row and David was about three rows behind me.  At some point, Christiane Noll as Amelia Earhart began singing a gorgeous ballad - everyone sat, enthralled.  I, of course, was the only one who knew immediately that dear David had "borrowed" his main theme from Old Boyfriends and used it for the ballad.  I turned around and looked at him and smiled and nodded, and he sheepishly smiled and nodded back.  Nothing like making use of a good tune.

DR Jose, i also enjoyed last night's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

Who are your favorites?

I can't really say my absolute favorites yet. Since i really feel like i don't know most of them yet at all. That is my biggest complaint.

I thought the best routine of the night was the one wade did (with sara). That was so good. But in a way it's unfair that they get incredible choreography while others did not.

I really liked lacey and her partner doing mia's dance. And also really enjoyed the broadway number. I thought they were great.

I also love hok.

I'll be very interested to see who goes tonight. It's sort of sad for them. But i'm glad the judges get to make the final call.

TWENTY costume designers?!?

Yep.  Basically one for each skit.  -And since there are up to 20 costume designers, there are also 20 or so teams of stitchers and fitters.  Even though it's called "Broadway Bares", there's still some clothing involved.

Well, I don't really have a favorite right now either.  However, I think not knowing most of them is a good thing.  It helps to put everyone on equal footing from the start.  You just simply judge them on their dancing.  Not on who their father is.  Not on what their mother did.  Not on what kind of obstacle they had to overcome.  It actually makes it seem like a real competition/audition - where most of the time, all you really know the contestant by is a number.

And I can tell that the choreographers have also stepped up their game too.  Yes, there were some better routines last night, but there were really no bad ones.  Even the "Smooth Waltz" was nicely choreographed.

*And, on a sort of personal note, one of my roommates works at Broadway Dance Center here in NYC, and he knows some of this year's finalists.  And he's also working on Mia Michael's new website.  :)

I had an inkling it would not come back till this fall.  I know the final "casting" didn't finish until a few weeks ago, and just doing the timeline, well...

However, with "Top Chef" and "Hey, Paula (Abdul)" ::) this summer on Bravo, there's enough reality TV to keep one occupied.  I think.  ;)

The first editions of the last few Harry Potter books are meaningless as first editions go - because the first edition print run was over 5,000,000 copies.  The first HP book in its original first UK edition had under 2000 copies printed, the bulk of which went to libraries and schools and it's why that one sometimes goes for twenty to twenty-five thousand bucks (although the HP market in firsts has dropped significantly over the last few years).

Ron, I have been thinking about getting one of those portable units, but the only other person I know has had one, hated it.  You said that yours vents out the window.  Do you have sliding windows or the regular up and down variety?  How long of a hose did your air conditioner come with?  The longest I have seen advertised is about four and a half feet.  That doesn't sound like allows you much mobility with the unit.  Does it?

Ron, I have been thinking about getting one of those portable units, but the only other person I know has had one, hated it.

TCB:  I can't for the life of me recall the brand/model of my unit, but it looks much like the unit below.  My window is regular up and down.  The hose was collapsed upon receipt but expands 8 feet.  Of course, it has to take a bend or two from window to back of A/C unit, so it probably won't expand beyond 5 feet from window.

You can put it anywhere you have a window.  It rolls around on casters.  But no, you can't just place it wherever you want and turn it on.

Some models have two hoses, but I've never read anything that said they did what the descriptions declared they did.

I went to a local ACE Hardware and asked the questions I needed answering:

1. Do you sell any other units than this model? (No)
2. Have any ever been returned, and why? (Yes.  Folks didn't like the fact that they had to empty the water from the unit after running it for about a week)
3. Have you ever had one returned because it didn't cool sufficiently based on the area it was designed for? (No.  We've sold these with success.  We warn folks it's for a room of no more than 300 square feet -- the model I got, that is -- and no more)

That information, plus a money-back guarantee should it not perform to my satisfaction and I paid my money and took my prize.

I am NOT disappointed, thus far

While at the pet store today I saw a cute, semi-reasonably priced toy & offered it to Sherlock.  As usual he didn’t want the reasonably priced toy but picked up an expensive one.  I tell you, that dog has expensive tastes in toys.  He was so cute holding the big stuffed monkey with long floppy arms I couldn’t resist buying it for him.   Fortunately Keith didn’t notice the price tag until it was too late.  Sherlock had already carried it around the store, squishing it the entire time so it would make loud noises.

Chet Clark was a very run-of-the-mill artist. He didn't meet with success in Oz.
He appeared on Six O'Clock Rock which was compered by Johnny O'Keefe known to some DRs through "Shout" the bio musical which starred David Campbell.

Judy Cannon, listed on the LP cover, was in the London production of Gypsy with Angela Lansbury in 1973.

Perhaps by nationality...but he was born IN Paris.

Thank you for the link DR Ben!

Dame Julie is taking her bloody time to write her book which was promised quite a few years back!

Now... I think that stopping at My Fair Lady is a BIG mistake! Who wants to read about Julie Andrews from age 0 to age 22?

The TOD reminded me that I had never purchased the orchestral version of Milhaud's Le Boeuf Sur le Toit on CD. When I went to look for it, lo! I discovered there was a 2 piano version! Can anyone recommend a recording of this?

I have Bernstein's recording which also includes La Creation du monde but I also like this Hyperion recording with the New London Orchestra because it includes Le Carnaval de Londres, Milhaud's arrangement of music from The Beggar's Opera.

DR Tomovoz, DR Francois can carp about the Belgian Brel not being French all he wants to, but the songs have French texts and I would guess the arrangements and often co-writers are French.  Is a song with a French text and a British composer, such as Les Illuminations a French song? Beats me.

Brian is very similar to "BRAIN", which you will hear mentioned in these parts from time to time. We have some notoriously bad typists here, (me included) so keep that in mind if you see yourself mentioned.

If i/m in the right spot I love Bizet's Carmen(Leotyne Price) and Kurt Weill's song from Marie Galante(on teresa Stratas' Unknown Kurt Weill

Again! Are J'attends un navire and Le roi d'Aquitaine from the German Kurt Weill's French show Marie Galante French or German songs?

Thanks, DR Elmore! I will pick up one of those. Maybe you or Jose can recommend one of the two piano 4 hands versions? Just the IDEA of it is very exciting to me

I am not carping about anything, I am just -- well, I did not, DR Tomovoz did -- saying that he was Belgian because his writing and his singing, his inspiration and his sensitivity were very Belgian; that's all! Of course, he spent most of his short career in France and I am rather "proud" that people think he was French.

re: so you think you can dance

Well, I don't really have a favorite right now either.  However, I think not knowing most of them is a good thing.  It helps to put everyone on equal footing from the start.  You just simply judge them on their dancing.  Not on who their father is.  Not on what their mother did.  Not on what kind of obstacle they had to overcome.  It actually makes it seem like a real competition/audition - where most of the time, all you really know the contestant by is a number.

I don't care about their personal stories.  What i meant was that i like to know everybody by name/ know what they've done leading up to now in the competition.

I think it really sucks that we were not given the chance to watch every step of ALL the dancers.

They are making up for it a bit by going back now.  But i would have rather gotten to see everybody's dancing before last night.

Chet Clark was a very run-of-the-mill artist. He didn't meet with success in Oz.
He appeared on Six O'Clock Rock which was compered by Johnny O'Keefe known to some DRs through "Shout" the bio musical which starred David Campbell.

The reason I asked was because I met him when I was in LA...and I knew nothing of his career until yesterday when I finally too a look at his website. I had run into he and his lady friend while shopping in Burbank and we talked for quite a long time as his lady friend turned out to be a 1950s actress that I liked.

I'm back to THE CLOSER, Season 2.  I swear Frances Sternhagen is channeling Miss Daisy, which I saw her perform with the wonderful gentleman Earl Hyman, a really wonderful man.  I'm very fond of him, and I love Frances; she's one of my favorite actresses and always adorable whenever I see her, but I can't call her a friend even though I'm friendly with her two sons Tony and Paul, who is on the Kritzerland AFTER THE BALL.

Even funnier but true department:  just had a short-lived gig at a little restaurant that wanted to try live music.  Usually you get booted from these gigs because nobody comes and it doesn't pay for them to have music.  Well, guess what?  This place cancelled after two weeks because too many people were coming and no one on staff wanted to stay later than 9 p.m.  Can you believe it?

How is Sherlock enjoying his monkey?

Classic Broadway sounds great....and I forgot to say yesterday, it sounds like a great release!

To read a book?  Sadly, a lot of people feel that way about theater.

LOL....to read more than ONE Harry Potter book.....I leave it up to your discretion....

Theatre....I have always thought that people have been subjected to so much BAD theatre, that sometimes it's too much of an effort to take the chance, or spend the money.

BUT then there are the nights - and it could be in any kind of theatre...anywhere - that magic strikes you, everything works, and you are touched as you never can be touched by a movie or television show.  AND that is why they also keep coming back....

Jrand there isn't much Sherlock doesn't enjoy eating.  He loves popcorn, even dropped the monkey at the store once he realized we had popcorn (the pet store has free popcorn by the exit).

He bcarried the monkey into the house and then ignored it while he napped (it was a big day out, including a trip to the dog park).  Once he woke up he played with it for awhile.

I am sleepy....I went to a few sessions, but celebrated flag day and my divorce anniversary by getting a Sedona Mud Body Wrap at the Spa here. It also included a reflexology foot massage and a scalp massage while I was wrapped up.  My skin is soft, I am relaxed and I could care a less about most everything :)   I had a great grilled grouper for dinner.

I must say, the biggest Marriott in the world is too big for me and 3000 people at a conference is total chaos.  But I'm learning a few things and enjoyed relaxing today, very much

So - is the Harry Potter talking book available on the same day that the book is published?  And if so, does that mean that Jim Dale and his sound engineer know how it all ends ahead of the rest of us?

DR Singdaw - we've been seeing more and more simultaneous print and audio releases.  Here's a

great interview with Jim Dale (http://www.bookpage.com/0706bp/jim_dale.html)

about his recordings of the Harry Potter books.

Today I refilled the magnetic paper clip holder I got at the only ALA I attended with Keith.  I had fun checking out all the new books that hadn’t been released yet, unfortunately there weren’t any freebies of books.

While I was touring the city of New Orleans and its outskirts, everywhere I went there were librarians.  I kept wondering if they were getting any work done.   ;D

When you are in a great city like DC it is going to be difficult to stay in-doors.

Are your evenings free or do you get invited to any functions?

Our schedule is a 96 page book!

Entertainment? Not really. There was a reception tonight that was not enough food for too many people and a few open bars for about an hour.  There was a pub crawl tonight, but it was pretty much a handful of 20 somethings and I didn't have any interest after having a body wrap.

I'm sure I could find some people going here or there if I wanted to, but frankly, this relaxing stuff is really nice, and I'm happy with it. Oh Saturday night there is a big party over in Downtown Disney.  I'll probably go to that.

Cat Destroys Lloyd Webber's Phantom Sequel Score
By Andrew Gans
14 Jun 2007

After putting felines in the spotlight for nearly two decades, one would think the furry creatures would have more respect for Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

London's Daily Mail reports that Lloyd Webber's new kitten Otto has managed to destroy the music he has penned for the upcoming sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. The six-month-old cat somehow climbed into the frame of Lloyd Webber's digital Clavinova piano, which features a built-in computer.

The award-winning composer told the London paper, "I was trying to write some new music; Otto got into the grand piano, jumped onto the computer and destroyed the entire score for the new Phantom in one fell swoop."

Just had a nice phone conversation with a fellow who owns a few off-Broadway theaters - very interesting.  I've know him for years (he, in fact, produced Together Again), and have seen him now and then (his daughter was on a Nickolodeon show when I was working with that network for a few weeks).

Have you sent him a copy of THE BRAIN (not to be confused with Brian) FROM PLANET X?

Yes, but it was based on the novel which was officially authorized by the Mitchell estate.

Loved the kitty/headphones pictures!

Welcome to new DR BRIAN....tell us all about yourself.

Thanks to DR DtM for the item in my mailbox today.....sharing space with some lovely photographs of Miss Allison Hayes from DR MBARNUM.

Is Chet's gf the lovely and talented monster from FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER, Miss Sally Todd?

Yes siree! He just sent me the photos he took of Sally and I at the store. That was very nice of him.

I began the evening with another episode of THE CLOSER, this one concerning the two doctors accused of murder after a child died on the operating table. Very dramatic episode, and the actress playing the grieving mother gave a very intense performance.

I've been working as many hours as possible since I've been back from Europe, trying to make back all of the money I spent, so I'm sorry that I haven't been around, really! I did want to share this video that I was just shown, because I know so many people on this website appreciate music in all of its forms.

http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=646496&cache=1

This is Paul Potts, a contestant on "Britain's Got Talent," the British equivalent of the lame American version. This video is so incredible to me, because although he clearly isn't professionally trained, thats the ENTIRE point of the movie. It was sort of a reminder of the purpose behind my studying music- that you have to love what you're doing to make it profound and beautiful. He so clearly is passionate about this aria, and whatever mistakes he makes are made up for by his love and devotion. He says himself that confidence isn't his strong point, and yet he's willing to risk that fear for the sake of performing that song so beautifully. I can't get over it! I cry every time.

Anyway, I hope you love it!

Next, I watched last Thursday's night's STUDIO 60. It was a fairly frantic and slightly muddled episode with the time shifting back and forth between the present and 2001. Some of the stories were interesting, but some of the dialog put into the mouths of the characters was too much speechifying and not enough "real speak." I believe there are two more episodes to go, tonight's and next Thursday's.

I finished the ANGEL episode where Fred was able to discover a way to win back the souls lost to the being's "countenance." But it didn't work on Connor, and who know what happens next. I didn't count the number of episodes left, but it must only be one or two more. They're on the last disc in the set.

I finished the evening with the Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn film WITHOUT LOVE. I'd never seen this in its entirety, and I ended up liking it very much.

The DVD looks very good, but there were a few specks and bits of dirt on the print used for the transfer. Still, a good job all around, and quite a cast in addition to the two stars: Keenan Wynn, Lucille Ball, Patricia Morison, and in a tiny role as a flower girl, Gloria Grahame.

You and me,
We're the kind of people other people
Would like to be.

Toddy
A little strolling?

Victor
Why not!

Both
Wand'ring free,
We present the kind of picture
People are glad to see.
And we don't care that tomorrow
Comes with no guarantee;
We've each other for company.
And come what may,
You and me, we'll stay together
Year after year,
Won't we, my dear?
"That's why we're you and...

Victor
Me!

Toddy
Walk this way

Victor
Oh!

Toddy
I taught him everything he knows

Victor
And that's why he has so little left, oh!

Toddy
I'll get you for that

Victor
[whistling]

Toddy
Oh, I love this guy!

Victor
Out!

Toddy
Careful now!

Victor
Humm...

Toddy
Twice

Both
Ah...Ah!

Toddy
I can fool you...

Victor
No, you can't!
Watch, Toddy!
Humm...oom...
Dah dam dah dah!

Toddy
You're on your own, kid!

Victor
What! What! Oh, Toddy!
Humm...oom...

Both
And come what may,
You and me, we'll stay together
Year after year,
Won't we my dear?
We'll always be you and me.
We'll always be you ...and...
Me!

I liked it very much, Sarah.  "Turandot" is my favorite opera, although I prefer Pavarotti's "Nessun Dorma."

I'm certain he was near-petrified, so some of the control issues may be due to that.  As he progresses through (or, if he progressed through), I'm guessing he'll get (or got) better.

Gone in one swell foop.

And from now on, we'll only have his word for it that the destroyed score was creative inspiration he cannot possibly hope to duplicate.

And then we'll get something more akin to "The Lady in White".

Everyone I think is French turns out not to be French.

It's amazing, isn't it.  There's not noir or blanc about it.

And don't even start on the French things that have been stripped of the word and replaced with "freedom"!
