THE BROKEN RECORD

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're just breaking some records now - they started with a Mrs. Miller album, and now they're destroying an Xaviar Cugat LP.

hmmm...fish

I don't really like fish....

I guess the best fish I have ever had was a straight out of the lake rainbow trout cooked over a camp fire. Whether it was the fact that I caught the fish or that it was the only food available, or it was just fresh, it was the most delicious thing.

Today at Dinner my grandpa was telling us about some of the things he has thrown away in his life that he regrets. For example a hand painted invitation to David Lynch's birthday party(painted by David Lynch) while shooting Dune....

Bruce is of couse setting a new record for highest number of posts every time he posts!

With a 2232 post lead from the nearest DR, I assume he will keep that record for quite a while.

I don't really care for fish, except the kinds of fish that's used in "fish 'n chips" and McD's Filet-O-Fish. ::)

Marie Callendar's has some of the best fish and chips ever, and their tartar sauce is great (I am very picky about my tartar sauce).

One of the most spectacular fish dishes ever is the cracked crab in garlic sauce at Crustacaen.  You sit there and you cannot stop picking at it, lapping up the sauce with every bite.  Amazing.

I am a huge fan of shrimp cocktails, but finding a great shrimp cocktail is daunting.  Musso and Frank has a good one.

Is the Manhattan Ocean Company or whatever it's called still there?  I've eaten several great meals there - usually cold shellfish in red sauce.

As a child growing up with a restaurant owner as a father, I fell in love with lobster, with lots of butter for dipping.  I haven't had it in years, but I've been thinking about it recently.

My Aunt Lillie made the best filet of sole ever - fried, fabulous tasting and it was always served with her incredible home-made from scratch macaroni and cheese - the best mac and cheese I've ever tasted.  She once told me how to make it and it worked and was swell - I don't think I have that recipe though - perhaps I'll try and get it - she's in her late 90s now, but still sharp as a tack.

Although I don't do it often (don't know why, really) I do love to buy fresh halibut steak and just broil it simply with some spices and butter.

I caught sand dabs once and cooked them - they were quite yummilicious.  I've never really been fond of trout, though.

Skipper's has a dill tartar sause that's very good.  I like dill tartar sauce...a lot. :)
