Off to the theater.  We are sponsored by Duke Energy Foundation, so I think I have to wear a hard hat for the curtain speech.

I may need for after the show anyway!

Pray for Rosemary's Baby.

Thursday morning greetings!  We've received word that John is in surgery, so we'll be heading up there soon.  Thanks to DRs Vixmom and FJL for the vibes I found here this morning.

I've had a long day out and now I'm safely home. I took the bus down to 50th Street and transferred to the crosstown bus to get to Radio City for my barber, then I took a bus down Fifth Avenue to Union Square and walked to Chris Denny's apartment, where I heard the songs for Brent's Christmas album. I think it's going to be good. Then I taxied up to 27th Street and went to Toyland where everyone was working on Life Begins At 8:40; the reading is now scheduled for Sept 1, but if the Library of congress doesn't start honoring our contract and paying us within six weeks of invoice date, there won't be a reading since I won't release the music. It's ridiculous for a government organization to be so screwed up.

After my visit to Toyland, I was considering a subway ride home but after walking to Seventh Avenue, I decided to taxi home. That's my day, and I'm rather proud of myself.

I am a bit nervous about the reception of the show this evening.  It's very different from KISS ME KATE and FOOTLOOSE and SINGIN' IN THE RAIN.
But I also have great confidence in our audiences.....we shall see.

See-- if you'd had Carol Channing singing, "The Impossible Dream," you wouldn't have that problem.

Simply have Dulcinea sing ALWAYS TRUE TO YOU IN MY FASHION to Quixote and all will be well.
Sancho changed his boots from gray to brown.
LOL.  Red sequins might work!

I read also that Budd Schulberg died yesterday.  Schulberg won the Oscar for his screenplay for "On the Waterfront".

I'll add to the lists of beach movies, one of the oddest ever made, but one I'm fond of in a weird way - Can Hieronymous Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe And Find True Happiness.

Who owns the rights to MERKIN, and why hasn't it ever been released onto DVD?

I watched a MURDEr SHE WROTE episode while I ate lunch. In this one, a trucking company run by Earl Holliman is going bankrupt due to hijacked shipments and the secretary stealing money without telling him.

Earl's son is played by Patrick Cassidy, and Melora Hardin from THE OFFICE plays Patrick's finace.

This is horrible. He's the same age as many of us! Very sad about that.

THE HARVEY GIRLS is very colorful and I love Judy and Angela Lansbury and Marjorie Main...and John Hodiak....but Ray Bolger on the BIG screen might be more than I can take.

Why does "everybody" on this board seem to dislike Ray Bolger?

Please enlighten me.

I only dislike him when he's miscast or is trying to do material beyond his ability. He was a horrible choice as the leading man for Doris Day in APRIL IN PARIS and his singing was very off pitch in that movie.

But in something like BABES IN TOYLAND or THE HARVEY GIRLS, he's just fine. And, of course, he's magical as the Scarecrow.

I watched both parts of my work project STARGATE: ATLANTIS. I don't think the show was ever regarded as a great piece of sci-fi, but the feature length pilot was reasonably entertaining. The second episode on the disc was the series finale. After five years, many of the core cast had already departed, and the show seemed to be borrowing sci-fi ideas from STAR TREK. I found that last episode pretty anticlimactic.

There were no bonus features on the STARGATE Blu-ray, so I had a big chunk of the afternoon free. I began by watching my soaps.

Y&R and AS THE WORLD TURNS had nothing of interest.
