Good morning!  I'm halfway through my usual 9-11am Thursdays shift at the first desk people come to when they enter the library - I need DR TPunk's social work degree or DR Cillaliz's law degree to help the people I've dealt with so far  ::)

DR vixmom - My DH Richard received in the mail yesterday an American Girl doll catalog (talk about misdirected marketing!).  Would the Vixter like to have it?  I have some other things for her that I'll bring to NYC with me and will add that if she's interested.

Have you seen the new DHL commercail regarding customer service?  Its hysterical.  It is also very similar to the treatment we get around here

If you wan to pretend you work in my local CVS you could try this approach, it seems to fit all occassions, all requests:

YOU:  "Whaddayawant?"

Client: "                                          "

YOU: "We ain't got any, ya can try again tammara"

See, now isn't that easier?

What was the name of the movie about alligators in the sewer? Was it just ALLIGATOR? I saw it on TV when I was just a sprig of a twig of a lad. Normally I'd say it scared the poop out of me, but after being told that the alligator would come up through the toilet bowl and bite my butt, I think I "held it" for a couple of days.

Oh!  I wonder if it's different than the ones we get in NY... if it's not too much trouble to bring along I know she would love to see it.

It seems that their marketing department tries different catalogs in different areas, one of my co-workers lives in a much more affluential area than I do and she will bring in catalogs that are vastly different than the ones we get, (although the prices are the same, unlike what I understand Victoria's Secret was doing a few years back....).

Good morning, all!  For some reason I cannot access yesterday's posts.

I'm in the Middletown Public Library catching up on the world events.  My trip to LaGuardia was very strange yesterday.  The ticket was via United Airlines but the flight was a US Air shuttle:  two different terminals, so I ended up having to walk back to USAir with my luggage, a 5-10 minute walk.  At the ticket counter, I was put on hold while my driver's license and ID were checked as a "security threat."  All omes were telling me not to fly yesterday.

I landed safely, spent the afternoon with my Father and his girlfriend, then went to my brother Tom's for the car they were lending me.  I met the members of my brother and sister-in-law's bluegrass band, saw my other brother Randy and my two nephews Cory and Matt, both recently graduated from high school and thriving.  Because I had been up at 4:45 am, I was in bed by 9.

Today I'm trying to figure my social calendar.  I now have tonight, part of Saturday, Sunday night, and Monday open.  DRGinny, since there's no accessible phone for me (don't ask about my Father and Verizon!), email me about what options are good for you and Richard.  Oy!

This is my theme song of the day

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
Guess I'll go eat worms,
Long, thin, slimy ones; Short, fat, juicy ones,
Itsy, bitsy, fuzzy wuzzy worms.

Down goes the first one, down goes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm.
Up comes the first one, up comes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm.

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
think I'll go eat worms...
big fat juicy ones, little slimy skinny ones,
hope they don't have germs!

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me
Think I'll go and eat worms
Long ones, short ones, fat ones, thin ones
See how they wriggle and squirm

I bite off the heads, and suck out the juice
And throw the skins away
Nobody knows how fat I grow
On worms three times a day
Ohh...nobody loves me.

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
Think I'll go eat worms.
Big fat juicy ones, Eensie weensy squeensy ones,
See how they wiggle and squirm.

Chomp off their heads and squeeze out the juice
And throw their tails away
Nobody knows how I survive
On worms three times a day.

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me
I'm goin' down the garden to eat worms
Long thin slimy ones, short fat fuzzy ones
Ooey gooey, ooey gooey worms

Long thin slimy ones slip down easily
Short fat fuzzy ones don't
Short fat fuzzy ones stick to your teeth
And the juice goes slurpin' (slurping noise) down your throat

Good morning!

I took my walk this morning just because I had skipped it the last two mornings due to humidity. It wasn't terrible humidity this morning, but it was less than comfortable.

And now the brilliant forecasters are saying that cooler temperatures won't get here until Monday!

Another in the long, long line of postponements of cool weather. Very disappointing.

On the topic of the day, I'd have to pick Ed Wood's BRIDE OF THE MONSTER. Really terrible and more laugh inducing than scary.

I have to admit, though, that I'm not a big fan of this kind of horror film. I'm glad we do have some experts here on the subject, though, and I'll read their posts today with interest.

MattH Thank you for lettingme know about CSI last night.  I was on the edge of me seat and I knew how it had to turn out!! (having already seen the previews for tonigt's show)

Very well done., and what a nice little bonus to see Frank Gorshin one last time.

Would you experts consider TARANTULA one of these B-movies? I don't, and I think it's great, but perhaps my fondness for it over the decades has blinded me to its lapses.

I'm so glad you liked it. I remember having the same reaction last spring when I saw it. I wanted to see it again, but there was too much to watch on the other networks. I'll see it when the 5th Season DVD set comes out, and I get it.

Topic of the Day - The only one that comes to mind is that horrible adaptation of Stephen King's "Children of the Corn".   But somehow, they managed to make a CotC2, and I believe even a CotC3.  Was there a 4??!?!?
Yes, there was a 4.  A friend of der B's and mine, Gary dePew, was a producer for both 3 and 4.  There apparently was also a 5, but Gary wasn't involved with that one.  (There are limits, after all!   ::))

Yes, I've seen the commercial.  Speaking from the other side of the counter, the behavior shown on the commercial is more like what I've seen from the customers.   :-\

I think der Brucer taped it.  (I have dibs on 10 o'clock Wednesdays if there's a new Good Eats episode, and there was!)

Today is Elephant Appreciation Day.

It is also National Centenarian's Day.

(Interesting pairing.)

It is St. Maurice's Day, the patron saint of knife grinders.

And it is St. Phoca's Day, the patron saint of gardeners.

(That's for those of you with no interest in knife grinding.)

Time to go to work.

TOD: The Sci-Fi Channel seems to be making a lot of new B-Movies, and showing them on Saturdays.  Fortunately, I lead a busier life than they would like me to be living.   ;D
