Well, you've read the notes, the notes were auto corrected, and now it is time for you to post until the auto corrected cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INGRATIATE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Topic of the Day: I have auto-correct turned off on all my devices, but just last night, I was typing a post here on HHW and I couldn't think of how to spell a word (I can't remember which word it was..I think it started with the letter T). I got the red squiggle line under the word in my browser (Chrome), and when I right-clicked on it, the suggested "correct" word was "Emoji." :o It wasn't even close to whatever it was that I typed.
-
Today, it's back to work. For some reason, I don't like having Mondays off. I'd rather have any other day off, even in the middle of the week, but not Mondays. I don't know why. ::)
;)
-
But now, I must sleep before work, so I shall.
Good night, and have a great day, all!
-
Thanks but unfortunately we did not sleep well. I think our brains are too focused on all we have to deal with at home.
-
I realized our sleeping pillows are in the guest room closet which currently has a bed in front of it.
-
I fear the blisters are still on my elbow and will prevent me from having the surgery and delay even longer getting out of this cast and beginning the healing process.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am back to City Center this morning. I really have no idea what I'll be proofing today, but it's Rodgers & Hart, so I'm very happy.
-
For the first time I purchased compression socks to wear on flights to prevent blood clots. If you have worn them you know how difficult they are to put on. Great timing on my part as there e is no way I can get them on now ;D
-
Ha ave a good day DR elmore.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I turn autocorrect off anywhere I find it. That doesn’t mean I’m completely free of these things still happening somehow, but it sure minimizes them.
The one thing I value in this regard is the “predictive” or “autofill” feature on the iPad. When it’s working well, it’s a godsend. But I’ve found it has its share of bugs, and it can become confused, so you definitely have to look at what’s on the screen before hitting Post or Send.
-
Well, I’ve got a busy day of chores and obligations here and must get a start on it.
DR Elmore’s day at City Center sounds like much more fun!
-
Healing vibes for Jane!

Oh — as for worst moments due to autocorrect — I don’t immediately recall anything that went beyond being highly annoying. Nothing terribly embarrassing or damaging, I don’t think. But this is only thanks to the fact that I’m always checking what I type. It’s an old, well ingrained habit. Typos still happen, but not too many and nothing too horrible.

Re Encores:
This was on WPIX, about "Smokey Joe's Cafe" going full force after the same female critic Encores tried to decimate after her "Big River" review. (Have they ever gone after someone who was not powerless, I wonder.) It's from July, but I just saw it - it feels like a parody, though its not! Maybe it could be called "Smoking Gun's Cafe."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxKFvfUfbg8.
Here's the gist of the office's publicity: Female critics are only allowed to be constructive - nothing negative - towards other women! Or they're "mean girls." The actress, who is a truly magnetic brilliant performer who I feel one day will be trying to out behind her that she went on TV going after a female critic this way, says the critic should have said "the costuming was uneven." The female critic, she objects, was not constructive! Civil rights of anyone who won't make them money don't matter. What matters - Gorgeous, attractive, but pleasantly heavyset triple threat performers who are sure to be stars as soon as they get that right role! They need more care for their rights than anyone. Or anyone powerless. I've REALLY never seen them try to oppress anyone with the clout to fight back, come to think of it.

Big blackout in South Austin last night.
Power was off for over an hour.

An hour doesn’t seem like long :)

Good morning, all.

Big blackout in South Austin last night.
Power was off for over an hour.
Sorry to read that, Druxy. I was up in Austin until late, then drove home in the rain. We had lightning through the night, but Alexa woke me up as usual.

TOD:
I don't use a cell phone, so I don't have any auto-correct moments. However, I've been using word processing and e-mail software since about 1981 and the worst spell-checking moment I've seen (and I've seen it more than once) is when I get an e-mail that's supposed to say, "I apologize for the inconvenience" and instead, it says "I apologize for the incontinence." I've thought quite a bit about how this can happen, and the only explanation I can come up with is that if you're touch-typing, both the "v" and the "t" are typed with the left index finger. So, it wouldn't be too difficult for someone to accidentally type "incontenience" and that does indeed get spell-checked to "incontinence." In fact, I just tried it now with this discussion board's spell checker and sure enough, that's what it wanted to do.
-
I did buy a ticket for ACL, the big Austin City Limits music festival. I guess it’s a birthday present for myself. Paul McCartney is the headliner and David Byrne is somewhere on the bill. More than 20 acts. Now, I just hope the weather is good that day.
-
Yesterday, autocorrect wanted me to use Australia instead of Austin.
-
Where are you folks seeing a spell checker or autocorrect option on this site?
I've looked for it before and never found one, and I don't see one now either. What am I missing?
-
Something is highlighting my spelling of "autocorrect" as one word, though. I wasn't getting that on the iPad this morning, but it's happening in Chrome on the Windows laptop.
Hmm...
-
When I type "The Last Starfighter," spellcheck seems to want to make it The Last Straighter."
And the word "in" often gets changed to "fun" for some reason!
-
Let’s move on...
-
Two!
-
I hate it when Spellcheck changes the spacing in punctuation.
Such as removing a space in the phrase Let’s move on...
Grammatically, it should be either Let’s move on. ...
Or
Let’s move on ...
But no ...

On the plane, engines have started

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
It is hotter than HELL here.
I've been working around the house, though not exactly strenuously, and I ran a couple of brief errands. I was only outside for a few minutes, all told. But today feels worse than the past couple of days.
Web sites say it's 88 with a heat index of 94. Feels like 104.
-
I have an internet connection, if I can stay awake to use it.
-
My walk from City Center to Eighth Avenue was torture this afternoon, but I am home in the AC, and Thatch and I have cuddled, so all is well. Annabelle refuses to come down from her current aerie to greet me.
-
I had a playwright/director write me an e-mail, castigating Rob Stevens for reviewing his play/production poorly - Rob basically hated it, although he gave it two rather than one star because he liked an actor or two. This guy was asking me to publish his rebuttal here ("if you have any integrity" was the way he put it). Amusingly, this guy and I and others got into it on Facebook on Pogue's page because his comments about actors and how to act was so inane that I could not sit idly by and I had some grand fun taking him on. I'm guessing he doesn't remember :). Anyway, I wrote a response and sent it - we'll see if he carries on beyond that, but he better develop a thicker skin.
-
Unless the review was posted here to begin with I am not sure why the rebuttle should be posted here, unless you3saw the play and agree with the rebuttle.
-
Travel vibes for Jane.
-
What would his rebuttal be worth? It’s not as if he’s impartial. It’s his own play.

WOW!
-
The views flying over Greenland and the Canadian Arctic are in credible.
-
And I thought the adventure was over.
-
Of course I had a bit more adventure than we planned on.
-
I wanna go listen to my book now.
-
I am going to return to reading mine. We just had a nice stretch. Only 4 more hours to go.
-
Page two? Really?
-
Back from a sandwich and side salad and picking up packages but no important envelope.
-
Did I miss your saying what the expected envelope is?
-
A while ago this became the perfect evening to watch High and Low again while listening to what is so far an excellent commentary by Stephen Prince.
I’m about 20 minutes into it now.
(By the greatest of coincidences, I also happen to be about 20 minutes into what might very well amount to a pitcher of Manhattans.)
-
Hello!

Page 2?
-
Travel vibes for DR Jane!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
continued travel vibes for Jane and Keith.
-
I flew over Greenland once and it was indeed beautiful.
-
Speaking of Greenland, many years ago I had a friend who was stationed there while in the Army. He suspected that the person responsible for that didn't like him and was doing it as a sort of punishment, but my friend was both a photographer and open-minded and enjoyed it.
-
I slept late this morning, but really needed it. It threw my whole day off, as it often does. Nothing on my to-do list was accomplished. I did take care of some other things, though.
-
What is this page two malarkey? This is slightly nauseating in a slightly nauseating way.
-
Page three? Really?
-
I suppose in an hour people are coming here to read through some material - I wish it were not so but it is and I can only hope it moves along quickly so we can end it after about ninety minutes.
-
DR Jeanne a nature photographer would love living in Greenland.
-
We just passed over the beautiful Rockies.

I am once again trying to get some help with the cleaning. My hairdresser, Richard, and I have had this conversation many, many times. "Why is it so hard to find cleaning help?" he asks. I explain why I think it is. He's been looking for someone to clean his salon for ages. Everyone who responds to his ads wants an exorbitant amount of money. So Richard ends up cleaning it himself. Now his at-home cleaner has quit; she found another job. My situation is complicated because of my allergies: said cleaner must adhere to the allergy guidelines. They've never heard of them, of course. I can explain them, but they're not interested.
Tomorrow a nice young male who works at a nearby eatery that I frequent has agreed to come over for a couple hours to assist me. We'll see how that goes. He's very good at his job at the eatery and very personable. I'd like him to do the cleaning that is getting just too difficult for me to do. I pay at the top end of the scale--but not the ludicrous $43.50/hr that Amazon charges if you book someone through them. We shall see.
-

Yes, exactly. He was more than just a nature photographer, but he certainly could appreciate Greenland's natural riches.
-
Travel vibes, coping vibes, and vibes of comfort to all who need them.
TTFN.

Hi Tom and Goerge. We are flying over you.

Read-through (more of a sing-through) was fun, and it's going to work out so that I can direct it - first as a cabaret evening on October 22. Ordinarily I would have turned it down since I'm in rehearsals for the Christmas show, but we're actually going to rehearse and do the tiny bit of staging for a week this month. Then we'll just meet a couple of times in October on my off day or days. It will all work out just right.
-
Went to Ralph's and got some drummettes and a little salad.

Teachers strikes! We never had them when I was in school.
-
Now they happen every September.
-
Here's the synopsis from IMDb:
After David Kim (John Cho)'s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter's laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter's digital footprints before she disappears forever.
