But Ginny, I don't consider myself to be a "gourmet" cook at all.  I'm a home cook who prefers to work as much as I can from scratch.

I just happen to be using my day off to make some stock.

I'll probably also get some laundry done, but not using the same pot.   ::)

Who threw the overalls in Mrs Murphy's chowder?

Nobody spoke, so he shouted all the louder.

It's an Irish trick, that's true.
I can lick the Mick that threw...

The overalls in Mrs. Murphy's chowder.

They dragged the pants from out the pot
And laid them on the floor.
Each man swore upon his life
He'd ne'er seen them before.

They were plastered up with mortar
And were worn out at the Knee.
They'd had their many
Ups and downs.
As we could plainly see...........

I love Julie Andrews' version of this song!!!

BK - You wouldn't back off because your back was off, or just on principle?

I don't think it was principle, just the fact that I didn't really feel like showing my rear end on film

So whose backside did we see instead of yours?  8)

I was wondering the same thing, but you said it ever so much better.  ;)

Isn't this the part where DR Michael S. posts something from the archives?  ;)

How many episodes (or seasons) does it take for any of the other DR's before you are really invested in the characters....enough for you to really care about what happens to the people on the series....

Ah. An interesting question. I SHOULD care in the first episode. I SHOULD  be drawn into the story in the first episode. I do usually give a series a second chance, though. It took me a couple episodes to warm up to SLINGS & ARROWS, but once I did I really took to it. That's an exception, though--it's a quirky show and it took me a while to "get" its humor.  I frequently find that the first episode is the best and it goes downhill from there.

Der Brucer is now watching some movie called Driving Lessons, a coming of age story involving Rupert Gint and Julie Waters.

If Rupert and Julie start snogging, I'm going to insist der B change channels.

Thank you DR’s Laura, Singdaw, George, Jose, Jeanne, JRand, and TD.

TD, Craig mentioned the weather was lovely in your neck of the woods, nicer than in L.A. or S.F.

I don't know how many remember 30something. I loved the show. I think it was either a love/hate thing because I have friends who cringe at the thought of watching it. I didn't see the first few episodes but the first one I did see had me right away. I loved it and watched every episode until it was over. I did see the very first episode sometime after I had become a fan (in reruns)and weekly watcher and thought, if I had seen this as the very first episode I don't know if I would have continued watching or become so attached to the show, so I'm glad I didn't see it from the beginning because I might have dropped the show and missed (IMHO) something special.

I just discovered that there is a Bollywood remake of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

It is from 1972 and titled PARICHAY.

Just in case anyone ever wondered.
