Well, since it looks like I'll be staying in tonight, I guess I should go ahead and get some laundry done.

*That pic was from last February when he had that great storm.  I took pictures of our backyard, every hour, on the hour.  When all was said and done....

No, I don't think Ben Donne wrote that one...

Hmm... I'm watching the news right now, and they keep showing pics of the snow.  In New Jersey and Connecticut.  Alas, here in NYC is basically freezing rain right now.  Not pretty.

'bout time to shut down here and meet Richard and Rob for some household shopping and dinner.

Bye for now!

It's nice to see that my favorite film composer, Clint Eastwood, is up for both score and song.  One just scratches one's cabeza.

No surprise - they nominated Paint Your Wagon, too!

Watching the Presidential debate.  This moderator's qualifications for doing this are - what?  Did she win a drawing in her office or soemthing like that?

Her performance today was 100% improvement over yesterday! When the panelists jeer the moderator you know you have a problem.

I'm not a Stephen King person; I don't like things that are too scary. Would LARRY, or anyone else who has seen it, tell me a bit more? Gruesome? Depressing? Violent? I'm not sure it's for me.
Thanks!

It is gruesome, with some bloody sequences and frightening images.  The monsters are fantastic creations but truly violent and aggressive in their destruction of mankind and use of the human body as breeding grounds.

There's one truly scary sequence in a pharmacy and a frightening scene of "Christian" humanity at its worst.

I began my afternoon viewing with last night's CSI: NY. Two murder cases, one very gruesome (an exploding cigar takes off a man's face) and one really tragic (a young kid on a bicycle hit by a stray bullet.) I enjoyed the show very much though the mysteries weren't very mysterious.

They sure gave Carmine Giovinazzo a chance to show his stuff.

I'm a big Jerry Herman fan!  Even more of one since meeting him, Don Pippin, Karen Morrow, Paige O'Hare and Jason Graae when they performed here at Carnegie Mellon a couple of years ago.  Both Don and Jerry were very gracious to everyone at the reception following.  Jason insisted on personally introducing me to Karen Morrow, who had sung the finest "I Don't Want to Know" that I have ever heard.

And on that note, my favorite Herman songs are:
Shalom
Milk and Honey
Love, Look in My Window
Love is Only Love
It Only Takes a Moment
Just Leave Everything to Me
Loving You
Mame
Bosom Buddies
Hello, Dolly
And I Was Beautiful
Kiss Her Now
I'll Be Here Tomorrow
Marianne
Song on the Sand
The Best In the World
La Cage Aux Folles
My Great Dream
Where in the World is My Prince?

Aww.... I was just checking out a friend's blog, and he posted the following:

I think this is one of the most brilliant moments in television history. It was on the "Andy Griffith Show," circa 1960. Here's the setup: Ben, the Scrooge-like character in Mayberry, wants a mild-mannered family man jailed on Christmas eve for making moonshine, seeing how Ben sells liquor legally at his own store. The family man explains he was just making some holiday cheer, and Andy -- of course -- is reluctant to lock him up over Christmas. But Ben insists, so Andy decides to bring the guy's family -- and his own -- to the sheriff's office for Christmas Eve. Ben climbs on a stool outside and peers into the jail, secretly longing to join in the spirit of the holiday. He even tries to get himself arrested, to no avail ... And then THIS SCENE...

Hmm... I guess I should start thinking about dinner.  Especially since I don't have anything here in the apartment to cook up.  Of course, I do have that box of cookies that Disney sent me yesterday... ;)

Ugh!  Local media now using words like "plowable" to refer to Saturday's snow, but it looks like it won't start early enough to close the library in the morning.  So, I'll probably risk life and limb to get here and no one will show up for my workshop.

Surely your coterie entourage of homeless will not abandon you.

I guess with all the cold and snow you all are experiencing, this wouldn't be a good time to mention that my wildflowers are sprouting. Looks like it will be a good year.

Back from a fun meeting with Mr. Spirtas and Mr. McDermott, who it was very nice to see again.  So, it looks like I'll be directing two back-to-back two-person shows - we'll start each right after the first of the year, although the first couple of months of each will just be choosing material and doing structure work.  Should be fun.

I must say, the last couple of times I went to Bird's it was not good, so I"m happy to report that today's meal was up to their old standard - great roast chicken, lovely side of Caesar salad, and oh them onion rings, which thankfully all three of us shared.

So... I decided to make a run to the grocery store up the street to buy some paper towels, as well to pick up the fixin's for a pot of chili.  Well, once I got back to the apartment, I noticed some similar items laid out on the kitchen counter.  It turns out that Jim and Bill had gotten home just a few minutes before I did, and they too made a stop at the store to pick up some Mexican-themed ingredients.  So, I may make my chili later tonight - and then let it sit for a day - it always better the day after.  And in the meantime, I shall be supping on the Mexican Lasagna that's being composed in the kitchen right now.

I hate/have to admit that is sort of fun watching Jim and Bill "cook".  The homemaking gene seems to have skipped both of them, and even opening a can of black beans can turn into quite the "event".  ;D
